Mens sana in corpore sano. The point artist is trying to make is that news media write and talk about health, supplements, diet, exercising... Meghan Markle was mentioned because in media there was an article about most important issue for the survival of life on our planet, her hair. According to media, woman has to be beautiful, artist has to be beautiful and healthy otherwise can not succeed. And artist asks: What about "Mens sana" part. Media do not care about state of mind, peoples spirit, mental health. To the contrary. Fake news, all sorts of lies (Serbians are especially sensitive because they were and still are victims of media warfare for over three decades) are there to make us total idiots, ignorant about what really is happening around us, spreading belief that nuclear war can be won or that Putin is going to back down if enough pressure he is under, unaware of how close we are of destroying our home, Earth. Read lyrics carefully several times, and pay attention to lyrics at the end: "A sick mind in a healthy body A sad soul in a healthy body A desperate mind in a healthy body A terrified mind in a healthy body" Open your minds! That is the way I understood it. Of course, great art provokes us to have an opinion. The really great art can be seen from different perspectives.
"Don't read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly." It is a bit the same with social media these days. So she asks interesting questions. I just hope the message comes across.
In corpore sano (in a healthy body) is a song that will represent Serbia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy. The music was written by Ana Đurić and Milovan Bošković, and the lyrics by Ana Đurić, who performs under the pseudonym Konstrakta. In corpore sano is an excerpt from the saying - men sana In corpore sano, which means healthy spirit in a healthy body, a verse written by the Roman poet Juvenal, born around the sixties of the new era. And this saying is taken from the verse which reads in its entirety - one should pray for a healthy spirit in a healthy body, ie "orandum est ut sit mens sana in corpore sano". The essence of Ana Đurić's text is the question - what if we are healthy if our mind is sick? She expresses it in the words - "the body is healthy and what will we do now, a weak mind in a healthy body, a sad soul in a healthy body, a desperate mind in a healthy body, a frightened mind in a healthy body" ... rhythm, Ana actually lets out a howl of despair of a modern man who promotes at all costs a healthy body, physics, matter, supplements, drugs, vaccines and constant hand washing, without anyone caring about the spirit that is sick due to the influence of propaganda, forcing false values for the purpose of general deafening. Humanity is healthy, but the spirit of the times is sick - weak, sad, desperate and scared. Hand washing as a symbol of cleansing from dirt will be well received not only as a kind of marking the end of the pandemic and all controversies, but also an invitation to start washing hands from all diseases of this world, which is not in the corner and which lacks Juvenile - we should pray for a healthy mind in a healthy body. She ask important questions. And the song is fascinating I'm just hoping it gets across to people who don't understand the language, or the symbolism. I miss a lot of that, since I come from a historically protestant country and these days most people here aren't religious. Most swedes won't understand a thing. Thankfully you (and others) have explained it to me and I am very grateful for that. Thank you! :D
@@gittanwaitingforthenexteur4525 Thanks for the comment. It should be emphasized that this is the first song in the history of Eurovision that is sung in living and non-living language - in Serbian and Latin. The Serbian author also uses the Latin dictionary, since Latin is also taught in Serbian high schools, which is later used by artists, lawyers, judges and doctors. Latin as the language of the failed Roman Empire is still used in science, philosophy, medicine, law and art. Serbia has always nurtured those values. Konstrakta used language, rhythm and melody to make this composition. There is moderation in expression, the mind and the heart are equally represented. This is a feature of today's art that is not only ideal for beauty, but also for the transmission of ideas and thoughts. So, the final work has a good balance between those two values.
This is sooooóó good!!! Real art, bravo! There are more than 2-3 different, important topics in the song and even more interpretations. It needs listening/ watching 4-5x to understand (this isn't an usual la-la-laa song). 1. Megan: Rich people/ contrast in lifestyle, "beauty", their artificiallity and us, ordinary people on the other side. 2. Washing hands: in Slavic nations it emphasises how the "authorities/governments" "washing hands" or not taking responsibility for the wellbeing of the ordinary people (water washes everything/every dirt from their hand/authorities hands). 3. Last 2 years & Covid-19 measures, people were locked at home, directed to wash hands/face etc. in order to keep themselves healthy but at the same time them 5 people in dark clothes standing & watching?! These are the authorities. 4. "Let the heart beating..." we are actually left alone, nobody cares about ordinary people. 5. Find a video with English subtitles and read what is she singing in her last 3-4 sentences in Latin!!!! This is actually the finale..." ill/sick mind in the healthy body" = we became unwell/ill because of the restrictions during last few years...the ongoing lockdowns across the planet created so many mental health problems. 6. Now after hearing/ understanding last 3 sentences, go to the beginning and start again... here come the rich people (Megan)... they can be "beautiful" ...bla,bla... but in the end coping them, celebrities makes us all artificial and we lost our mind, ourselves, we gave/sold our souls because of copying various top models and celebrities and wanting to be/look like them. :)
Thank you for explaining all of those layers to me. It's an interesting song and it's going to stand out. I just hope it's in the right way and that it gets rewarded for its guts. Compared to Portugal a few years ago I'm thinking it's going to get the support from other Balkan countries and move on. Don't you think?!
@@gittanwaitingforthenexteur4525 all of them, Croatia, Bosnia, Macedonia...Austria, Slovenia & Montenegro will give 10 or 12. Hopefully other relevant musicians, in the national ESC voting teams & the audience also look in the quality, meaning & messages not just usual Eurovision melody
I'm from Serbia. The choreography can only be understood if you're familiar with the orthodox Christian church tradition. The guys that she is surrounded with, with the towels around their necks and with the vessel filled with water that he pours on her hands and later she dries her hands with the towel the second guy has, is the picture from the Holy Archiereus Liturgy, the Liturgy that is served by the bishop or the Patriarch, so the head of the Church. So, knowing this it is easier to understand that this is the criticism of the Church. She is referring to the hypocrisy of the Church members, I guess those the most respected ones. Greetings from Serbia! ❤️
Oh.. I see.. Thank you so much or explaining all of that to me. I would never have understood it otherwise. Gutsy! The song surely seems to have a lot of layers to it. My feeling now is that it's going to grow on people. It also stands out and that's always good! I hope she does well! Cheers from Sweden! :D

Satanism? Nooo, inform yourself… no covid song either, this is art, this is a masterpiece of many layers, both lyrics, visual stage performance, and use the subtitles to get your personal opinion based on the impact… Its not a superficial song, love, or just rythm bla bla… Its deep this one!!! And its a message, its out of the box!
This song is an masterpiece!
Pure art with a strong message!
