5:35 "Normanni" is another word for "Norman", which is the French word for "Dane" or "viking". The reason being -- there was a region in France called "Normandy" that had been taken over by vikings about 150 years earlier. So the French associated all Danish people and vikings with Normandy.
Thorfinn S1 was a menace but it always makes me sad seeing him killing all these ppl and being so far gone from the path Thors envisioned and hoped for him.
S2 is actually a masterpiece. Idk how there is some people who actually hate the Thorfinn from S2, it's one of the biggest character development that I've ever seen.
Someone probably said this but this is actually the first chapter of the manga when it started in a shounen magazine, so that's why it has some wackier elements like the French leader, after this it moved to a sienen magazine and got a bit more grounded.
Im glad shes enjoying the show. Vinland Saga is such an underrated banger of a show. Alana is going to be a WRECK in season 2, and I for one...can...not...wait.
@@HachimaruuTV That's cause you're comparing it two of the biggest series in shounen jump that are still currently airing. Vinland is a Seinen, it's like comparing Taylor Swift to Queen.
@@yellowcard8100 ehhh yes and no. Just because its a Seinen doesn't mean it cant be as popular a Shounen. Look at Berserk, I can as any anime fan and they probably know it. But Vinland is one of those hidden gems. Masterful story, just doesn't get enough reach.
This is one of the hell of a show really inspiring also really loved watching it great reaction you are going going to witness peak in further coming seasons
As for accuracy: The battles are all real battles that happened, but there is some creative liberty being taken by the author. Similar to the mushrooms Bjorn eats, Viking lore stated that they would carry their ships on land as a form of intimidation, so there is accuracy within the lore there.
Viking ships were fairly small and light, and had low-profile keels and draft. This made them relatively easy to navigate shallow waters, and carry over land, so portage was a pretty common tactic (and also simply used for travel) for the vikings.
I'm really loving your reactions to this anime, #AlanaMisako. I love you so much because you're so cute, and I'm still continuously supporting you because your anime content is so amazing, and also because I enjoy watching your reactions to different anime series.
I think it was said already by other commentators, but they need money to survive the winter, they're not farmers and Askeladd has a lot of hungry mouths to feed
if Thorfinn didn't show up even 30 seconds later to the boats there, they'd be gone without him, leaving him to drown/die. I think that Askeladd didn't let the possible death of a kid pining for his life sour his mood after getting away with a shitton of treasure. He used Thorfinn like the useful tool he is, and figured the tool got broken when stopping the crossbow guys from attacking them.
@@gutsglory3625you're wrong. he trust that thorfinn would come back multiple times. he already knew thorfinn's ways since he's a child, he kept coming back to duel him and he knew he's not gonna die that easily coz he's the son of thors. backed up from his words with one of his ppl. the major proof was when he went to go to the prince and then there's a silence from askellad when bjorn asked him if thorfinn would come back then when he got back, there's an actual subtle relief reaction. since thorfinn's a child, askellad taught him unintentionally how to survive in the world of battlefield. his words of "that isn't how to use a sword right", "try to achieve smth in the battlefield", "you're a viking right, is that all what you've got" and etc. askellad have his own ways of teaching thorfinn as kenny did to levi in aot. askellad may have used him as a weapon, he still started to grow fond of him.
true. actually he doesn't care about money at all. he even called out his uncle about that. that's just how he knew his crew would get to survive coz he doesn't have much authority like thorkell.
I really like this series and SpyxFamily. I'm looking forward to watching your reaction for next episode, the episode after the next! These are so nice!🙏
Vinland Saga is pretty historically accurate, and some of its characters are based on real people (yes, Thorfinn included and he actually has a statue but don't look up information on him to avoid spoilers), so the skirmishes among kingdoms from different regions (like the one among the french shown here) have actually happened, as well as the main conflict which is between England and Denmark... But these skirmishes were common back then for various reasons, so making some up in a fictional narrative wouldn't be historically inaccurate. Of course, since this dates pretty far back, there's not that much information on the full life of these people, which is what the mangaka takes advantage of to flesh out the characters how he wants to and tell his story (Thorfinn, for example, only has written accounts based on his adulthood, nothing is known about his childhood and teenage years beyond him being born in Iceland and knowing Leif).
thorfinn go CRAZYYYYYYY?????
we are starting s2 on patreon today weeee patreon.com/alanamisako

Askeladd is the kind of guy who fights fire with fire even though he hates fire & wishes the world would have been better off without fire
Ahhhhh Thornfinn popped off this episode 🙌🏻 loving the Vinland saga reactions 😆

@@joaogabriel5182right? So much wisdom & character growth in S2. I honestly prefer S2 over S1 because of that despite S1 being more action packed.

8:03 WHO'S GONNA CARRY THE BOATS??!?!?!?!?!? (David Goggins reference)
season 1 Thorfinn is a fighter but season 2 Thorfinn is a warrior ❤🔥❤🔥...Goatland saga for a reason
happy to see more vinland here! thanks for the reactions, alana!!
Commenting for the algorithm, since I love the show and your reaction.
Askeladd: If you bring me the head of a general, I'll give you another duel
Thorfinn: really? Ok bet

I'm glad you're liking Vinland Saga!
Vinland Saga is historically authentic and per checking accurate to a degree
14:03 i think thorfinn is gonna realize that....... good question for anyone in that situation.....
Vinland is on my top 5 list of anime. It sits alongside AOT on the realms of peak fiction. (Though some are based on historical facts)
8:02 certified David Goggins moment
Allways nice too see Usopp get fooled:D
thorfinn really popped off

This is probably the most filler episode in the whole of Vinland Saga. Whatever ever happened to the Franks wasn’t mentioned again in the show
askeladd is definitely a bad person, but at the same time he is so weel written!! It's hard not to like his moments

Askeladd is just a magnifienct bastard. He leads with so much charisma compared to that frankish toad.
