Things you will need:
● Business cards: us.moo.com/
The cards in the video were "luxe" cards which are 3x thicker than normal business cards.
● Clamps: goo.gl/CQOEGE
I used "c-clamps" for the video, but any type of clamp should work.
● Ironlak Spray paint: www.ironlak.com/ or fifthelementonl...
This spray paint is a little high-end, so you can try to find cheaper paint somewhere else.

You can do more cards at a time, but only work one edge at a time. You are spraying too heavy. Give it a very light coat to seal the edges. Then apply a few light coats in succession to achieve your final coat. Then when you break then you will not have so many bleeds, none at a matter of fact. The pressure from the c-clamps needs to be as tight as you can manage. And go with a lacquer or enamel. The acrylic drys slowly and has time to soak through. I'm not trying be a smart-ass, I do this for a living. Nice design on the cards.
I observed that the cards which were in middle came out perfect .. so we can use few (waste) cardboard rectangles of the same length of the business card on the both sides. I guess it will save the printed cards. I have to try it. Thank you for the tutorial :)
Yeah, I tired that and it worked much better!! Thanks for watching :)
Thanks so much! Just did this to my Moo cards and they turned out fantastic! So much better than plain edges!
That is amazing...
your C-Clamps match the
color of your cards... "COOL"
good idea, thanks for the tutorial. We make metal business cards, any good idea to create the unique cards?
Love this! I love the cards on moo. Thank you for the tutorial. :)
Thanks, they are great cards!
I might actually get my cards printed and do that. Looks awesome man. Perfect tutorial too :)
Thanks Moe!! Go for it, it's worth it.
Animation at the start is really cool!
Thanks man :)
I like the letters do you have a name for the letters?
Really like the colour may even try this out!
Awesome tutorial! I wonder if priming the cards with a clear/frost paint would help with the color bleeding in between the cards?
Yeah, that would work as well. I actually tried that about a week ago. It works much better.
Do you use moisturizer?
I hope you guys enjoyed this special video!! If you did, be sure to leave a like and comment on what you think!!
Enjoy!
Great vid man, love seeing the logo in use. Keep it up

everything in it is really professional :)
Thank you man. Glad you like the presentation!
No problem dude, you're welcome. Look forward to post more content in the future! :)
I'll try this idea!
Very cool video ;)
Hi Sir! Just wanna ask if this would work with normal business cards of about 300gsm? Really curious about it. Thank you!
Great video! Loved the style :)
Thanks Patrick!! again :p
might have to give this a try
it's totally worth it!
Looks awesome man! And the design work is extremely clean. Going to have to give this a shot. Used to get my cards from Vista but the quality wasn't very good
Thank you man, it means a lot
Which layout did you use on Moo? I can't seem to find one that I like and that fits all of my info, yours seems to work really well.
Um, what do you mean? I designed the cards myself. I didn't use a template...
Right, but there are different layouts you can choose on the Moo site. Some being text only, images and text, and just images. I was curious which setup you used for your cards.
I didn't. I uploaded my own design. I didn't use any layouts from moo.com
Did you get paint on the neighbors house?
My best video to-date!!
Nice job! :) Which softwer do you use for editing videos (just like this)? It's also a good one!
cool! Very original work!
Great tutorial as always! Keep it up Ryan :)
Thanks Cody, you da best :p
Forgive me if you've answered this already, but couldn't one simply run a marker over the edges?
Yes, you could certainly do that. But since most markers are water-base, the color will most likely absorb into the paper and dull out a bit. With spray paint, there are many colors to chose from that won't be absorbed by the paper and not fade over time.
But if you wanted an even cheaper alternative and you wanted to do that - then you could certainly do that.
SymmetryTutorials Cool. Makes sense. :)
it can also lift the laminate. The best result would be proper Ink. you could order an specific PMS colour you wanted (if you can find a supplier).
If we could smash through 100 likes, that would be insane!
Great Tutorial Man, Are you a Graphic Designer?
Thank you!
And yes, im a graphic designer currently going for my degree in design.
Show us how to make professional/clean business cards ? Great tutorial by all means (:
Thanks man and sure, I will put that down as a tutorial idea :)
Looks nice, thank you for vid. cheers
No problem! Thanks for watching.
Loved the video
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
Very good video! Thanks for that :)
Thanks man!
how did you make that logo
Incredible!
Thanks Will, your incredible!!
So out of a 100 cards how many did you lose to bad bleeds? 20? If so, that's not a very good ratio. Especially if you're dealing with cards that are $1.00 or more a card.
Jay Holtslander it was more like, 6-10. Once I nailed the technique, everything was good. Also, Money wasn't a factor really. And they paid for themselves quickly anyways.
very interesting! thanks.
Learn how to create stunning business cards that will impress employers and clients!!
What fonts did you use on the back of your business cards
Helvetica
What type of paper is that?
gabriel cabrera As said in the video, it is called "Luxe" paper from Moo.com. Its a thick cardstock, type of paper.
Omg, I'm dying to pull that hangnail...
Very nice man :D
Cheers :D
Woo awesome!
;)
If you jog the stack of cards with the boards against a flat surface like another board, before you put the clamps on, they will line up perfectly.
You'll NEVER get a stack of paper to line up smoothly trying to align them with your hands.
Take the stack, and tap one short edge against a board, and then rotate it and tap one long side against the board, and then put the clamps on.
You're approaching this like an "art project", not a "production multiples" job. Think like a factory worker, not an artist, and the job will become MUCH easier.
awesome !! thanks !!
Thanks man, no problem.
Makin a local business some juan day...
Coollll
ironlaks like 3.50 a can? how did you pay 15 dollars lol
Garcia Graphics the bottle itself cost me $4.99+ tax (gyazo.com/31ad6bfb3023f224cbacaa005f7df7bd) but the shipping cost me like $6-$8 since it was coming from overseas. Now, I know I probably could have gotten it cheaper, but at the time I couldn't find a dealer / store that had the color I needed.
thats alot of tax. not from america right?
Nope, this shipped from Australia.
But they were the only people that had the exact color i needed.
RE-Liked this video. xD
decent try but the bleed kills them :(
Aduh
You look kinda like Linus from LinusTechTips!!
This video should be less than 5 minutes long, not nearly 15.
problem. I sell 250 edge painted cards on a 32 point cotton for under $100. Not spray painted. good luck with everything.
would you spray paint your car? it's just wrong, you ruin a ton of cards, the look is awful, spray paint is harmful, as a 3rd generation printer I have never seen anything like this before . printing is a craft.
- Plenty of people spray paint their car, it's called plastic-dip
- I didn't ruin any cards, it saved me hundreds of dollars and all I got was good feedback + nobody would know the difference.
- Also, as a business associate / owner - I wouldn't recommend calling people out like this to get business - Not really a good move. Also, if your are a 3rd generation printer and you take pride in your work; your website/company name does not reflect that at all. ( weissprinters ??? ) I'm still laughing!
Hit me up if you want a professional to do your website hi@ryanduffy.co
as a printer this is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. Who would spray paint their cards. Just insane. .
Larry Weiss not really, I think 50,000 other people might say other wise.
- the price is expensive to have done
- from past personal experience, spray painting them actually had better quality then What I was getting from other printers
- And many people have done it before and it works just fine :)
