  • Cool little project that I undertook to learn a bit more about the very low level operation of computers and calculators. This thing can multiply, divide, add, subtract, take compliments, etc. Just about everything that an old four function calculator could do. However its registers are only three and four bits long, so it can only multiply numbers up to 7 x 15.
In this video I removed the weight from the arm that releases the next ball so that I can control it manually.

I can imagine a warehouse filled with these machines trying to calculate prime numbers. The sound would drive someone nuts.🤯

The lever is supposed to be activated by the marbles, you may have tightend it too much.

This is very interesting… but, what IS it, exactly? Can you give a brief explanation?

This is a device where two binary numbers may be added, subtracted, multiplied or divided, and the complement of a number many be found.
One digital three bit number is on the extreme left, another four bit binary number is in the middle while an accumulator is on the extreme right, The three binary bits on top are routing mechanism to route the marbles to transfer the centre number to the accumulator as it is a four bit number it needs two division by two. It is a nice ingenious machine.

      Good explanation😊

I just see you playing with marbles. You provide no explanation about what's happening or what this is. The labels on the machine are too small to see. Useless.

That's nice, but can it divide by zero?

Not even Chuck Norris can. Maybe Linus Torvalds.

Aahhh, they don't build 'em like this anymore.

    This is just a digi-comp 2

The digicomp 2 is actually based on this design which was made a few years prior. This design had a couple of bad flaws that were fixed in the DC-2

I don't understand what is the input and what is the output of these machine.

So Cool! Now make a FLODAC, patent 3190554 . I would really like to see a FLOWDAC calculate log tables or something! Patent 672267 , 3116040 .
