First motorcycle bought it not running. I had a guy work on it he didnt get the cam sprocket bolts tight . it ran about 10 minutes . The sprocket came off broke the chain . I got a book and a new chain but it wouldnt start . it had a bent valve.
I watched your video & seeing the bent valve - good catch. My query: I'm working on a 1981 CT70 & when kicking over it is Extremely easy. Taking out the spark plug I Can Not see the piston moving at all. Would this be a Motor split job to see if the kicker inside motor is not hooking up to the motor? Thanks, Wildman RG3
@@woodysgarage469 Broken rod as in; the shaft that connects kicker to inside the Crank ? Yes- I will be getting shop manuals asap but just seeing what this could be? Is there any other way to see what this is? And/or am I stuck splitting cases if it isn't a bent valve - if valves are not bent then it has to be from deep inside this motor which is bad news.
@@wildman3541 Broken connecting rod which is the link between the piston and the crankshaft. Does the kickstarter feel kind of spongey? It could be worn plates are not letting the kickstart engage. Iv had quite a few problems with the timing chain on those engines. But they are pretty easy to fix
My guess is the threads in the block stripped since they're aluminum and the studs are steel. Haven't seen the whole video so just a guess.
You may be right, stay tuned.

I'll remember to make sure the cam sprocket is tight now. Thanks
Bent exhaust valve due to contact with piston
Yep, the adjuster became loose when I was riding.

I would start by removing the head/cylinder and have a look. If it's a broken rod then yes, you will have to split the cases.
