Morale of the story: if you have passion and you have drive..you will make it

the most perfect thing about this talk was the title. . . let me explain to those who didnt get it: stop being focused on the book deal and go do something really worth writing about

Great information. I am a Kurdish American and I have been working as a linguist for U.S military in Iraqi Kurdistan since 2005. I almost finished writing my novel based on my experience with U.S military in Iraqi Kurdistan and my life under the tyranny Saddam Hussein. Hopefully I will find a good literally agent.

be unreasonable and don't settle for the "no's" and the "you cant's" and the "it's impossible". Just do it.

she's amazing. as a muslim, it's really nice (and surprising) to see someone who isn't one go out of their way to help a muslim. and she published it!

The advice is simple and worked for the presenter and she does a great job tying it into so much more but I can understand some people thinking the title is misleading. On a very real level though it is good advice so I personally would like to say thanks!

    Underrated TEDx talk.
Really inspiring. I am going to send this to my wife and ask her how I can be more unreasonable.

We put so much efforts finding rules, patterns, and role models. In the end, what matters is all about passion, none of the above. Language. Writing. Career. Marriage.......

She answers the question of how to get a book deal in the last 20 seconds - I'll spare you the 17+ min... How do you get a book deal? "I don't know, what do you think"

There is way more valuable information in this than that its just not as technical perhaps as what youd like.

Lol. The opening advert says Everyone hates writing because of writers block. As long as there’s alcohol, I will never have writers block.

CAUTION: While the content of this presentation is touching she doesn't answer the question posed by the title. This is very misleading and is really nothing more than a verbal resume.

Did you make an impactful presentation? Yes. Was it relevant to the topic? No. Was it valuable? Maybe, but not if you are looking for information on getting a book deal!

That was one of the best ted talks I've ever seen! the title doesn't exactly work, I'd prefer if it was something about being unreasonable. But in the end, it was still a good one. So glad I stumbled upon it.

this is a bait. I was hoping she would tell me how to find a publishing company and the steps needed to get something publishing. maybe some tips, and also ways to prevent piracy, etc.

Interesting. Doesn't exactly match the subject line tho, but is of interest. (She might want to adjust her speech pattern a tad and try to not bury some of her words. And/or get a better mic---which is not her fault, presumably.
