I love how you can so clearly demonstrate why something doesn’t work and what to do to improve. Also, all of your points can be adopted by anyone at any size.
That combination works in a mild temperature country. In a cold country, probably the skirt would have to go or the "malfunction" wardrobe stays, because between looking rightfully stylish and being warm, I think the last is far more important. Though the leather jacket with the skirt looks pretty good.
Gap between boots and skirts drives me batty … but still see it everywhere… looks ok on models but not shorter people. I’m so glad you address this is🙈
Why would I never wear this ? First of all because the skirt is ill structured, it misses fitting vertical darts at the waist so when you sit or bend over there is no ugly bump at the hips as it shows on the video. So first: skirt is a no-no.
At least somebody was brave enough to say it. The outfit was decent, but the skirt should be tailored. It’s swallowing her up in my opinion and I really don’t want to make it seem mean or discouraging to her. I personally just think she should tailor it and it would look better on her.
Lovely Tips! Also for those that don't want to buy or don't have tall boots, never underestimate thick opaque stockings that are black/ match the color of your shoes to keep the color continuation!
I love the fact that she is wearing a turtleneck! And the final outfit is beautiful! All the pieces are beautiful, one just needs to know how to put them together. Tights w the shorter boot would also work, if you dont have higher boots!❤
Lydia you are quite simply my style queen now! You explain everything so clearly and I have learned so much from your videos. You always look absolutely impeccable - the epitome of timeless style and elegance ❤
Thank you for making videos about fashion maths. I am trying to learn how to piece together outfits and this is a huge help! Please continue to make more!
To me the coat and the skirt worked well considering their shades are similar It is the black turtle neck that was too much and made the look discombobulated If she changed it to a white or cream turtle neck I think it would have worked just fine Also the boot trick is brilliant
long boots and long skirt looks a bit rubbish unless it's a flowing skirt imo. I would put this with heeled ankle boots, the gap looks OK then as you're making a feature of the boots. The long boots are fighting with the skirt length. tbh I don't think these midi lengths are especially flattering to anyone. A maxi skirt should be longer than this.
The way Ipeleng has found comfort in her awkwardness and quirkiness, it reminds me of Doja Cat. She's just who she is and she's good at it. She truly found herself in this show😍❤️.
Would love it if you could do more styling videos on prints & colours 😍 Zara is doing a lot of colour & print rn and been tempted to get a few of the skirts, blouses & dresses!
Ipeleng has won my heart. She's a true introvert and she's representing us introverts. For someone who is shy, she is very brave for auditioning to become part of such a big❤. It's beautiful to see her grow on this show. She was initially very reserved but she's grown to find her confidence in who she is and that's the win for her🎉. I love it for her.
The result is lovely. My dilemma is this - at 66, I still like to look pulled together, but I'm unable to wear heels. Would a streamlined tall flat boot still look ok? 🤔
I'd love to see you style that skirt for spring/summer. I have a cornsilk (pale yellow-cream) maxi from Samsœ that I want to take to Paris, but I'm struggling with the correct tops. My nude sandals with a low heel look better than my white sneakers or my tricolor (white, navy, cognac) loafers. I don't like my cognac ballet flats with it at all! Thanks!
I know why you would never wear it, because the second version looks better on you. But the first version has a lot going for it. It depends on: one's personal style / context / body composition.
Lydia, do you think you can do a video on how to style this particular maxi shirt? I'm considering added it to my wardrobe but not completely sure how I style it. Lots of love
Lydia, I have enjoyed fashion my whole life, but much of the advice is repetitive (emphasize waist; rules of thirds, blah blah). THANK YOU for breathing new life into modern day style tips.
Talker boots so the line isn’t broken up. Maxi skirts are classic. Wear a shorter coat, probably a jacket. These proportions are just off in this outfit
See I like it when you say OK this outfit doesn’t work, but if we just change, you know like the short boots to the tall boots and the long jacket into a short jacket without changing the whole outfit thank you for doing that because normally people will say let’s start with this outfit and then they change the whole thing and then I’m like well what did you do when you first
I’m on a budget for business casual workwear. I’m starting a new job so I need a wardrobe. What kind of basic staples should I get to get the most out of each piece?
I love how you can so clearly demonstrate why something doesn’t work and what to do to improve. Also, all of your points can be adopted by anyone at any size.

Exactly what I thought... if it's long coat season, it's definitely not leather jacket season
I loved the coat with the skirt. yes I'd change the boot though.
If I had to change something I'd got with you.
Exactly
Gap between boots and skirts drives me batty … but still see it everywhere… looks ok on models but not shorter people. I’m so glad you address this is🙈
Am I the only one who liked the final outfit but without the shorter leather blazer?
Nope not just you. That's just a preference of silhouette.
I dislike the black matchymatchy and I like the first coat.
@@drdeb_ocherry yes, too easy. The coat shorter, in my case with a more mustard or kaki color. And the heels thicker.
Prefer the longer coat too.
Yes.
Why would I never wear this ? First of all because the skirt is ill structured, it misses fitting vertical darts at the waist so when you sit or bend over there is no ugly bump at the hips as it shows on the video.
So first: skirt is a no-no.
Agree. You can tell that the skirt does not fit her property, either not her size, or a poorly structured skirt / bad quality skirt.
At least somebody was brave enough to say it. The outfit was decent, but the skirt should be tailored.
It’s swallowing her up in my opinion and I really don’t want to make it seem mean or discouraging to her. I personally just think she should tailor it and it would look better on her.
WHERE ARE THE LINKS???
100% the skirt is not it.
Lovely Tips! Also for those that don't want to buy or don't have tall boots, never underestimate thick opaque stockings that are black/ match the color of your shoes to keep the color continuation!
You could also wear black tights to continue the line of the black short boot, although the higher heeled boot probably looks better.
This styling was genius! The difference is astounding!
I somehow like the first variant more😅
I love the fact that she is wearing a turtleneck! And the final outfit is beautiful! All the pieces are beautiful, one just needs to know how to put them together. Tights w the shorter boot would also work, if you dont have higher boots!❤
Circa '90s Gwyneth Paltro 🥰

I agree with changing the boots, but honestly overall liked the first outfit better.
Or the second without the leather blazer.
Love these videos! You’re clear and to the point. It helps to see hard wrong and how to fix it. Thank you for explaining it well.
The first one is boho-chic … nothing wrong with it
I totally agree with you. The black blazer and longer black boots are much better.
Love it. 🥰👍😊
Yay! Finally someone knows how to style maxi skirts
To me the coat and the skirt worked well considering their shades are similar
It is the black turtle neck that was too much and made the look discombobulated
If she changed it to a white or cream turtle neck I think it would have worked just fine
Also the boot trick is brilliant
I need 1 whole day to watch every Lydia short video. Such good and concise info!
I also glad i nailed nearly every point (apart from the colour of the coat). Goes to show you’ve taught me a lot lydia!
Ngl I like both and would wear both. They’re just completely different outfits.
❤❤❤ how about a much wider maxi or midi skirt combination for the winter.
long boots and long skirt looks a bit rubbish unless it's a flowing skirt imo. I would put this with heeled ankle boots, the gap looks OK then as you're making a feature of the boots. The long boots are fighting with the skirt length.
tbh I don't think these midi lengths are especially flattering to anyone. A maxi skirt should be longer than this.
I totally agree with the length of the coat being off. It would have worked with trousers.
No one does proportions better than Lydia!
The way Ipeleng has found comfort in her awkwardness and quirkiness, it reminds me of Doja Cat. She's just who she is and she's good at it. She truly found herself in this show😍❤️.

Love the revitalized outfit!!
Lydia I get your point but honestly you look amazing no matter what ☺️
Brilliantly presented!
I feel like the skirt is the problem
Wao! this women for sure is a perfectionist of the fashion it had to be perfect 🎥👌
Love the long length boots!!
Yess! I've loved fashion since I was born and this video is everything! You really get how to build and outfit
Great styling tips. Thank your!

love those second boots!
Beautiful final outfit. I would love to see how you style rubber rain boots.
Now i want more of these maxi skirt tut but in florals.
I love the coat and its color! Although you're right it wasn't quite the right combination with the skirt etc
Am I the only one that love the first look😊. The long boots I feel makes the look a bit heavy
Thanks a lot ❤❤❤
Love this styling education!
The result is lovely. My dilemma is this - at 66, I still like to look pulled together, but I'm unable to wear heels. Would a streamlined tall flat boot still look ok? 🤔
10/10 Lydia! Love you styling tutorials!! ❤
Your videos are so helpful 😇
I Love it so much ❤

Coat looks good with dress
The tall boots are super nice
I REALLY LIKED IT.THANKS.
I also hate the gaps but don’t want to buy another pair of boots.
So I wear stockings or knee-length socks to make the gaps disappear. 😊
I loved the first ensemble
I know why you would never wear it, because the second version looks better on you. But the first version has a lot going for it. It depends on: one's personal style / context / body composition.
Much better, though maybe a jacket that finishes just on the skirt waistband might be even better?
I totally agree. A long skirt always looks much better with a cropped jacket.
Honestly the coat was fine.
❤ Looks great
i actually liked the first version more
Lydia, do you think you can do a video on how to style this particular maxi shirt? I'm considering added it to my wardrobe but not completely sure how I style it. Lots of love
Do a series on chilly weather holiday outfits
Love your style ❤
Brilliant 🎉
Love it! The blazer sleeves never stay up 😞
The longer coat was better, shorter coat cuts off too
U have such a great style
Looks better without the jacket or coat
Lydia, I have enjoyed fashion my whole life, but much of the advice is repetitive (emphasize waist; rules of thirds, blah blah).
THANK YOU for breathing new life into modern day style tips.
Love the leather jacket look
Amazing skirt. From where does it come from?☺️
The first one is frazzled English woman and I like it
What about în winter? Thank you! :)
Where’s that leather jacket from?! Cute!
Wunderbar aber ich vermisse eine Halskette auf dem dunklen Rollkragenpullover🥰
thank u 🫶🏻
Talker boots so the line isn’t broken up. Maxi skirts are classic. Wear a shorter coat, probably a jacket. These proportions are just off in this outfit
Perfekt 👌🏾
Where is the skirt from? I love it!

I like the first look better
The final product is a gorgeous outfit for indoors, or a crisp fall day! But what would you wear with that same skirt outside when it’s very cold?
Maybe you could solve the boot problem by putting long socks to cover the skin between skirt and boot.
The skirt could turn sideways where split shows leg
I love that skirt!!! Where is it from?!?
What if someone only had the short boot and long skirt? How would you make that work? Black tight to fill in the gap which might extend the leg?
Omg, where is the coat from??? ❤
More skirts Please
Jacket is not an option in colder countries though. What about short puffy jacket? Is it better option than coat then? If it’s closed?
The skirt needs a belt large enough to hide the band, which doesn't lay flat. Otherwise I agree with everything.
First boots were great. 2nd boots clashed with the look
I liked the first
If one doesn't have the tall boots to swap to, will black tights do the same thing?
You are wearing the skirt wrong. The zipper is supposed to be in the back.
Gal! 😊😊A long skirt isn't for you. Oversized coats aren't for you. Just sit through this trend.
I actually liked the camel color coat. It looked couture. The problem is that ugly yellow ill fitted skirt.
Less cut off points got it 👍
Does it mean we can't wear a coat with a long dress ?
Would it work if you wore long black socks with the short boots? I don't have long ones😂
I’m on a budget for business casual workwear. I’m starting a new job so I need a wardrobe. What kind of basic staples should I get to get the most out of each piece?
