Every doctor and hospital I have been to have refused to let me record what they say. I wanted to record them so when I went home I could remember what they had instructed because I knew I wouldn't remember everything. It really makes me angry AND very suspicious. Why??? If someone is telling the truth, why be afraid to be recorded???

I, however don't understand why she is being grilled about hugging that child on a non sexual way when she's upset or crying. To me, that is a normal reaction. It shouldn't be made into a big deal if it is not a sexual thing or an inappropriate way of touching her.

Yes, I was taught the same thing. Now that I'm a patient in severe pain that nothing can control it, I use every tool (imagery, music, art, and most of all prayer) that I can just to survive. If you saw me drawing, you could wrongly conclude that I'm not in pain, but it never stops the burning, ripping and aching. We get by sometimes minute by minute. I done being judged by ignorant health care workers and professionals and am finally standing up for all who suffer horribly with no relief in sight.

In no way am I defending the social worker, but as a licensed mental health professional, I will add that we are what’s called mandated reporters in every state, & that means if it is even possible, not proven as that’s not the job of any reporter to make a finding, then we are required to report that concern to CPS. It is CPS who is responsible for looking into the situation & making a finding as to whether abuse or neglect has occurred. Anyone who’s a mandated reporter has almost always been instructed by their employer, and by the ethics of their respective profession, that if there’s any possibility that abuse could be going on, that we need to err on the side of caution & report it, given that children are helpless to protect themselves if abuse is occurring.

What is glaringly obvious is Maya's mom was a NURSE. And when she went head to head with this woman, this woman puffed up and refused to see that Maya's mom was not someone off the street with no understanding of medical industry. And instead of being treated with respect Maya's mom was accused of criminal conduct and stripped of her child. I don't know how this woman sleeps at night! Not an ounce of compassion. Why do healthcare workers always like to use “overworked” and “understaffed” as an excuse when they get called out for their ab-sive behaviour? That is no reason to go ab-sing patients and their family members.
F&B and Retail workers work twice their hours with only a fraction of their pay and so often understaffed too but you don’t see them ab-sing customers or their family members like this.

Maya‘s documentary on Netflix was so hard for me to watch because I could feel this little girls pain and nobody believing her was so heartbreaking. This monster of the human should be jailed for what she put this little girl through. People and especially kids don’t just scream out in pain for attention especially when they’re in a hospital bed away from their family. This is a very real experience and fear for many parents out there. Statistics of childhood chronic illness is happening at staggering amounts and the only physicians who are brave enough to treat these children and often are found outside of hospitals or medical group practices. These illnesses are often not covered or recognized by insurance companies which is just one really big part of this very concerning problem.

My little nephew broke both of his arms at 5 years old. Not a single tear, not screams. He just kept repeating it hurts. And "it hurts" was all he said while in the hospital to fix the bones and put the cast. No screams, no tears. Nothing. If the injury wouldn't have been visible, you would think it "was nothing serious" but we expect more from medical and social professionals. They can't dismiss somebody's elses pain because "is different than that of others". How the hell can you "standardize" how anybody, a child un particular, reacts or explains pain! Unbelievable. The injustice this child has been subjected to makes my heart break! The entire situation was caused by the hospital and watching those attorneys laughing and snickering truly shows they have no caring and compassion! not the oldest; it's only 2024-374=1650 years old; ie. since Christianity became an official religion of the Roman Empire. Christmas and Easter are both 2000 years older than Christianity: and Moon-worship is 33,000 years older than Sun-worship. But yes, probably the oldest trick in the book is indeed pretending you are close to supernatural omnipotent power. so as to get other people to do what you want.
In this case, Beata was able to get Maya to do what she wanted, partly by use of blind faith in supernatural power, which we may or may not hear about later on in what may become one of the longest drawn-out trials, that is, if the lawyers can achieve their objectives of dragging it out for as long as possible because they are paid for time, not for finding truth.
