So well done - hopefully we will get back to Ireland in the near future. I love the drives through all the small towns and seeing all the people out and about. Great video, I love how you don't rush around and try and cram too much in, you just enjoy the places you come across. I travelled the West of Ireland a few years back, it's a beautiful place but as you've discovered the weather is something else. I visit Ireland every year(I have family in Wexford)I was supposed to move over this year but guess what put pay to that? As you're heading to Wexford for the ferry I recommend a visit to historic Enniscorthy which has a very nice Norman castle and a fantastic Cathedral built by Pugin of Palace of Westminster Elizabeth Tower fame, there is also Vinegar Hill the sight of an historic battle in the 1798 uprising. Also on your way to the ferry you could take a slight detour to what is often voted one of Irelands best beaches Curracloe where the beach landing scene in Saving Private Ryan was filmed. I hope you do come back to Ireland and complete your very enjoyable series. I'd recommend June or July next time though.
Great tips and thanks for taking the time to share them. I didn’t realise Saving Private Ryan landing scene was filmed there. We are back in the UK now but we will add your tips to our list for the next visit, we will certainly return and see the rest when covid is back in its box. Got to admit all of those empty "cottage's" your were mentioning would make for a cool show of some sort where it would be about someone or some company really using the what remains of some of those locations and rebuilding them for some sort of use such as an Air B&B or something... also been watching several of your earlier content and have to admit I enjoy your old camper.. but can see how your van really gives you freedom that you didn't have before.
Huge difference in comfort between the caravan and the camper but nowhere near the freedom to see things. With a caravan you are always going back and forth along the same roads visiting places. With the van you just go from attraction to attraction and camp. 👍
Forgot to say there are a huge number of abandoned properties, more than I have seen anywhere else in the world so far and some of them are huge. I don’t know why that should be but I guess people still own the land and have let them go back to nature once they move into modern facilities
@@LifeistooshortCK There is a very long history in Ireland of people leaving through famine, emigration & rural depopulation. These places look beautiful in Summer but Winters were /are harsh! You can't eat scenery!
Such a beautiful place, lived in Kildare and Dublin for six month’s years ago , miss the place . Enjoy your stay. 👍🏴🏴🏴🏴👍🏴🏴🏴🏴👍
I've watched many holiday videos of Ireland, and your ones are among the finest. I hope you will return once this damned Covid has gone. Don't miss the midlands, Athlone, Tullamore etc, many places to see next time. And fingers crossed the weather holds.
Sorry to hear you weren't feeling well and hope you have recovered, despite not being well you have outdone yourself again with this video and the length is starting to greep up, we think you next goal should be 30 mins lol Particularly liked your discriptions, we would like to go there now. We were also very pleased that you mentioned about your initial anxieties about where to park and even though we haven't tried it yet and our van isn't finished, Yvonne and I were just discussing this the other day of how we felt a little bit anxious, we are so glad to hear that this will be an initial passing phase. Once again, really enjoyed it and looking forward to the next one.
I am good thanks and just felt little sick so decided to sit in the van and edit. I soon felt better. I think most people are anxious the first few nights and for a while you may worry about finding a parking space but that has certainly gone for us. I now know that I can park it most places you can park a car and if we go into stealth mode very few people have a clue you are there. Good luck with your first trip, you don’t need to go far. We tested stealth mode overnight in a town centre car park where we live and that gave us confidence. 👍
I think I would be like Carol, I would want to carry on travelling. My dad travel in a Type 2 VW, he travelled for 2 years. He even drove to Switzerland. All in a Air Cooled Engine. Really sorry you didn't feel well. I hope you recover soon. Thanks again a excellent video.
What a great video of the cliffs. When we were there last September everything was foggy and we couldn’t get a good view of the cliffs. You made it seem like we were right there.
Couple of videos left in the series I think, maybe three I won’t know until all the rubbish gets chopped out. We intend to come back after Covid for series 2. 👍
Since discovering your Ireland trip I have gone backed and watched all your videos from the beginning. Enjoyed them all so much and look forward to the future trips. Take care of your health and thanks for the tip on non slip trays, got our own now.
Thanks for watching the older ones and good to hear you enjoyed them. We didn’t have much experience on how to get the sound right back then but hopefully they are getting better 👍
Great video and information as always very nice Ken / Carol just love it I thanks so much for sharing and taking us on your journey thanks carol for taking us through the history of the castle 👍🇬🇧
enjoy your video the views are fantastic!! you visit some very nice places , you made me hungry when you had the 🍕 🍕, I hope you are better now. enjoy your evening. stay safe and take care.
Particularly enjoyed that episode. Although I’ve always live in London, Kilrush is my mum’s home town so I’ve been there many times. It’s well know for its traditional Irish music scene with a popular yearly music festival . Also had a few pizzas 🍕 from Roma as well.
I am doing grand thanks. We need to work out a way to get extra supplies shipped to us so that we don’t have to return. 6 weeks is about the limit on what we can carry.
I'm enjoying your travels almost as much as you are! The Cliffs of Moher have changed a lot since we visited there twenty years ago. I'm not sure the change has been for the better, but I will withhold final judgment until I see it firsthand. Sorry you weren't feeling well at King John's Castle. It is fascinating. If you walk around the castle to the river, there is a beautiful park. A friend of ours that lives near Limerick has a schoolmate that grew up on the castle grounds. Many years ago, there was low cost housing inside the castle in the open area.
Glad you like the videos. I am surprised that they once had low cost housing in the castle and then removed them. I had intended to grab a drone shot from that park but for some reason I just didn’t have any energy that afternoon. It cleared up soon enough though 👍
Went to the Cliffs of Moher about 2 years ago. Sadly the day was so misty and it was raining. Could not see for more than about 2 to 300 metres ahead while driving. So obviously never bothered to stop. I live in Southern Ireland, in County Cork. The weather is so much nicer than the east side of Ireland. When we arrived home that day the sun was shining.
Its pot luck what you are going to get on the day and I feel for people who have looked forward to the cliffs and then not been able to see them. Its an advantage of the camper that we could wait several days if needed but we were lucky the next day.
Hello Ken & Carol UA-cam has some great videos to watch, I was put on to you from my father in N.ireland, I've watched all to date About your travels to Ireland Really really well done, great videos... thanks to both of you.
Ita amazing Ken I rarely have a full fry up at home But in the van its a must on most mornings lol Its been a joy to watch your Ireland adventure And Im eager to spend a few months there in the better times ? Hugs to Carol ATB Stephen
We hope you manage to get over there Stephen when this covid mess is over. I love a good fry up but it was getting embarrassing with how often they turned up on my plate. I will pass on the hugs, cheers 😏👍
Another wonderful video, we have watched them all. I’m disappointed that your back and that will be the end of the Ireland tour. Looking to your next adventure. Best wishes.
Cliffs of Moher really impressive and so much history on the road from there. Would we have parked there? Probably not. Great narrations from you both!
Yet again another great video enjoyed it very much, its been a few yrs since i was at Moher , so you are heading home in a few day , hahahaha no more ulster fry breakfast for you:) look forward for a couple more Irish video's before you leave.
Wohoo, I am first in commenting. Great going lads. Watching with my wife now :-) i remember I spent 2-3 nights in Doolin. That was an amazing experience :-) thanks for reminding us those days ...
Another video triumph Ken and Carol. You pronounced Lahinch perfectly and were very close with Moher as well (Carol was spot on). The deserted cottage you mention shows a feature almost unique to that part of Ireland and you would have noticed far more of it had it been pointed out at the time. The roof, rather than being thatched was made from "Liscannor" flagstone. It was and is abundant in the area and features everywhere (including the floors in O'Brien's tower and also a huge piece creating the roof of the reception/visitor centre at 2.08 in the video). Lahinch is similar to some other beaches on the west coast of Ireland in that in the last decade (maybe two) the Australians have discovered that the waves are among the best in the world for surfing. It's to do with the gradient of the shelf and the weather systems forcing the water towards it (or something like that). Seemingly wave quality is far more important than sunny weather so the likes of Bondi beach have been forsaken for Irish beaches by many Australians (many of whom have set up surf schools/businesses). You seem to be a great man for your apps Ken - fair play to you for even using one to take a best shot at a calm return trip. One final comment, Carol does an excellent fried egg! How on earth do you manage to turn them and still not break them Carol - EVERY TIME!?
JohninRosc I do sometimes break the yolks! The trick is to get the frying pan hot enough before you put the eggs in so that the underside cooks quickly and the whites solidify. If you have a good non stick pan they should then be easy to move around and flip over. Thanks for your interesting and informative comment, best wishes from Carol 😀
Another great video, such a shame that you didn’t continue down the west coast to Kilkee and on to Loop head you really missed some awesome scenery cliffs and the last point between Ireland and America- ( last land the passengers on Titanic would have seen). By now you will be home and safe kind regards to you both.
Brad Wedge everyone who has a small camper like ours considers getting a bigger van. There are so many tempting vehicles out there to hunger after and we like looking at all of them. Then we slide under a really low barrier or squeeze into the only tiny space left at the beach and think mmmm couldn’t do that in van x,y,z..... one day maybe but not yet. 👍
Another fabulous video - thank you! So sad that we’re nearing the end as I have enjoyed your videos so much. Sod’s law of course we had an ‘Indian Summer’ just after you left - but how were we to know 😆 It will be lovely to welcome you back sometime in the future ❤️🇮🇪🇬🇧
Sorry to see ye guys had to go home and I will miss following your journey around ireland.. btw O'Brien is pronounced o'brian.. I'll be sure to tune in when you return.. wishing you all the best..
If your looking for even bigger cliffs than the cliffs of moher the slieve league cliffs in donegal are bigger than the cliffs of moher and not many people go there so no worries of lots of people
Cornellius O' Brien was important, but the O' Briens were a leading family in that area and in ireland,so not every thing named after O'Brien would be named after cornellus
@@LifeistooshortCK I wrote that at the start of the vid didn't no you were heading back till the end .enjoyed watching your trip and hope you enjoyed our little island
Also just wondering what are your favorite two toppings? And what are two toppings you would never have on your pizza? Always love to hear these answers...
I found that pizza to be pretty good to be honest. Its only problem was it should have been twice as big. Favourites are barbecue sauce and ground beef. Never have would be mussels as Carol is allergic to them and spinach but Carol loves that. Its difficult when you like to share 😏👍
Thanks Tom. Over time I think a lot of people will view these videos and be inspired to visit. I have been blown away by the huge interest in Ireland and not just from the huge numbers who used to live there. I think that because we are just tourists and not Tourism Ireland people trust the message more ?
In case anyone is planning to go to the Cliffs of Moher - there are no tickets. You just walk in but there is a fee to park your car. You pay per person at the car park entrance. The road is too narrow to park anywhere else.
The swans may like to swim, but I'm not sure that the Irish do. You wouldn't think that they were an island nation. Non of my wife's many siblings can swim, and most of their kids do not. Maybe that's why there are so many lifebouys?
How things have changed since you left Derry and N.Ireland as a whole. Strabane/Derry is now one of the worst places for the spreading of cvd19 in the UK.
Sorry to hear that news. Lockdowns are popping up all over at the moment. Glad we came home now as being locked down in the house is much better than the van. Stay safe David 👍
@@LifeistooshortCK glad to see yous did the sensible thing and put the trip on pause rather than rush around the counties and miss lots of good places in Ireland. Hopefully it won't be long until the little red van is back on Éireann.
Carol pronounced Moher on the last attempt "Moer" without the "H". Donegal now has the highest number of Covid cases and at the start it was one of the lowest. You are suffering from "nomitransbiosis", the using of names other than what that person is called. Oh no! the dreaded kissing of the Blarney Stone, I hate that kind of old Irish stuff. I thought that would be banned during these times unless they are spraying it with bleach which is then going to destroy the rock. Lol. :))
They are destroying the rock 😁. Yes not my cup of tea either but Carol had set her heart on doing it so I filmed it. Its a heck of a climb to get up there in some very narrow staircases. 👍
When you left Kilrush, it's a shame you didn't go to Loop Head & the Bridges of Ross, you could have parked there easily without disturbance, many others do. O Brien is pronounced O Brian. no difference. Breen = Breen. Thomand = Toe Mand Some say Lehinch others Lahinch, big debate.. Sorry to hear of your ill health, come back anytime (Ennis Native) Clarecastle Wiki: Clarecastle (An Clár or Irish: Droichead an Chláir, ( pronounced Dre Hid On Claw-ir) meaning "Bridge of the Plateau") is a village just south of Ennis in County Clare, Ireland. From 2008 to 2016 the village saw a significant population increase due to its proximity to Ennis, Shannon, and Limerick. The town is named after the Clare Castle,[1] which stands on an island in the narrowest navigable part of the River Fergus. The Irish Clár, meaning a wooden board, is often used for a bridge. The name probably originated as Clár adar da choradh, which means "the bridge between two weirs". Another explanation of the name is that the de Clare family gave the castle its name, since they had acquired land in Kilkenny and Thomond that included the castle. In 1590 County Clare was named after the castle, which is in a strategic location. Clarecastle was once a port for boats, used to deliver items into the town of Ennis that could not navigate the river Fergus. The Quay of Clarecastle was a busy port during its time.[1] Today it is used for fishing and recreation.

I was worried about the crossing as I had heard it could be rough. We booked the return in Ireland with one eye on the weather.
I remember back in the day it was all free. No barriers near the cliffs either.
You can walk in free but you have to pay to park the car. 👍

Thank you Linda 👍
Thank you for highlighting our beautiful country you did a superb job I hope it will give you many happy memories
It certainly has. Thanks 👍
Very good vlog.
I've watched many holiday videos of Ireland, and your ones are among the finest. I hope you will return once this damned Covid has gone. Don't miss the midlands, Athlone, Tullamore etc, many places to see next time. And fingers crossed the weather holds.
We have a long lost of places to visit when we return, hopefully it won’t be too long 😀
Sorry to hear you weren't feeling well and hope you have recovered, despite not being well you have outdone yourself again with this video and the length is starting to greep up, we think you next goal should be 30 mins lol Particularly liked your discriptions, we would like to go there now.
I am good now thanks. I was feeling a bit sick but it passed. Carol was born to travel without a doubt 👍
What a great video of the cliffs. When we were there last September everything was foggy and we couldn’t get a good view of the cliffs. You made it seem like we were right there.
Thanks Rose. I want people to feel like they are there with us so I am glad you felt that 👍
Love watching you trip around Ireland and love the little red van . Looking forward all ready to your next adventure
This one is not over yet but we are considering our options for whatever comes next. 👍
So sorry your trip is coming to a end. Want thank you both for sharing your journeys most enjoyable. I miss my home country.
Cheers Rod 👍
I have loved your travels from N.Ireland to Ireland. Beautiful scenery. Glad you both got home safely.x
Thanks Charmaine nice of you to say so 👍
That was great guys! Thank you!
Thanks for your comment Anne 🙂
Thank you both for great videos and watched them all.Looking forward to future ones.
Thanks Felix 👍
Love you two , love your van and love your updates ! Keep posting and happy camping
We love your comments 👍😁
enjoy your video
the views are fantastic!!
you visit some very nice places , you made me hungry when you had the 🍕 🍕, I hope you are better now.
enjoy your evening.
stay safe and take care.
We are both fine now thanks Moira. Thanks for asking 👍
Particularly enjoyed that episode. Although I’ve always live in London, Kilrush is my mum’s home town so I’ve been there many times. It’s well know for its traditional Irish music scene with a popular yearly music festival . Also had a few pizzas 🍕 from Roma as well.
Good to trigger some memories for you. Would have loved to have experienced some traditional Irish music and we agree Roma do a great pizza 👍
Another great video ..... easy watching - loved that quay location
GetawayGeese Cheers 👍
I hope Ken is doing better,,,, the medication was always a concern for myself on our trips,,, look forward to your last few and wherever you go next.
I am doing grand thanks. We need to work out a way to get extra supplies shipped to us so that we don’t have to return. 6 weeks is about the limit on what we can carry.
Well done Carol on your narration.
Carol did do well and wants to do more. Practice makes perfect and its good to alternate 👍
Thank you Jean, kind of you to say so, best wishes from Carol 😀
Great video well done
Cheers Paul 👍
Guys ! What can I say ... but yet again AGAIN ... I love this video and your show ... thank you!
Cheers Steph. 👍
Another great vlog Ken & Carol thanks for sharing. Obviously home now stay safe and look forward to your next travel vlogs
Hi Grumpy bear. Thank you. A couple more at least from this trip to come and its quite nice having plenty of space at home to edit them 😏👍
I'm enjoying your travels almost as much as you are!
Nice day and love seeing Ireland thru your videos. Thanks for sharing. I hope to visit one day.
We hope you get to go there Lee
Fabulous video yet again and another tour de force.
Thank you for your feedback 👍
Those cliffs are lovely and dramatic!
I was a lucky boy being able to film them 👍
Went to the Cliffs of Moher about 2 years ago.
Hello Ken & Carol
UA-cam has some great videos to watch, I was put on to you from my father in N.ireland, I've watched all to date About your travels to Ireland
Really really well done, great videos... thanks to both of you.
Glad you enjoy them. Thanks 👍
King John's Castle: it had a council estate built in the courtyard in the 70s.
That’s not something they tell you when you visit 😁
Carol’s snake skin mask. Street cred! 🤘🏻😊
Thanks Steven, you just took decades off my age lol, best wishes from Carol 😀
Life is too short Hope you’re feeling better now.
I am fine thanks and recovered later that day 👍
Life is too short glad to hear 😊
Thanks for the tide app. I live near the ocean in NYC so it will be useful.
Its a good one Larry. I have used it quite a bit so far 👍
Well done great video again hope that you have a smooth ferry home 🏡❤️
Crossing was beautiful thank you. You will see a bit of that in the final episode 👍
Great informative video......I've been to Limerick many times and never visited the Castle......But I will next time!!!! Well Done again......
Worth a visit Gerry 👍
Another excellent post. Much better than anything that is on the telly.
Thanks Danny, very kind of you to say so 👍
Ita amazing Ken I rarely have a full fry up at home But in the van its a must on most mornings lol Its been a joy to watch your Ireland adventure And Im eager to spend a few months there in the better times ? Hugs to Carol ATB Stephen
We hope you manage to get over there Stephen when this covid mess is over. I love a good fry up but it was getting embarrassing with how often they turned up on my plate. I will pass on the hugs, cheers 😏👍
lahinch is world famous for it's waves. surfers come from all over the world to catch the waves there
Another wonderful video, we have watched them all. I’m disappointed that your back and that will be the end of the Ireland tour. Looking to your next adventure. Best wishes.
Probably a couple more in this Ireland series to come 👍
Cliffs of Moher really impressive and so much history on the road from there. Would we have parked there? Probably not. Great narrations from you both!
As you can see I changed my mind 😏👍
Yet again another great video enjoyed it very much, its been a few yrs since i was at Moher , so you are heading home in a few day , hahahaha no more ulster fry breakfast for you:) look forward for a couple more Irish video's before you leave.
One or two more difficult to judge until its edited 👍
I know I’m extremely late to the party, but the tower in Clarecastle is an old RIC barracks.
Thanks Marian 🙂👍
Wohoo, I am first in commenting. Great going lads. Watching with my wife now :-) i remember I spent 2-3 nights in Doolin. That was an amazing experience :-) thanks for reminding us those days ...
Well done for being first and thanks for watching and commenting 😁👍
@@LifeistooshortCK :)
Dolan is a big musical village, next time guys.
We didn’t get to experience any of the social side because of covid. Next time we will 👍
Another great video, such a shame that you didn’t continue down the west coast to Kilkee and on to Loop head you really missed some awesome scenery cliffs and the last point between Ireland and America- ( last land the passengers on Titanic would have seen). By now you will be home and safe kind regards to you both.
Better to come back when things are better and do the rest in detail and we will 👍
Have you thought about getting a bigger RV? Loved the video. Another masterpiece!
It will.be sad to see you leave the island. We hope you will still do videos.
We will be making films wherever we go 👍
Another fabulous video - thank you!
So sad that we’re nearing the end as I have enjoyed your videos so much. Sod’s law of course we had an ‘Indian Summer’ just after you left - but how were we to know 😆
It will be lovely to welcome you back sometime in the future ❤️🇮🇪🇬🇧
Yes we saw the weather change just as we were leaving. Sunny as can be when we set sail. At least we will not be newbies on our next visit 👍
Sorry to see ye guys had to go home and I will miss following your journey around ireland.. btw O'Brien is pronounced o'brian.. I'll be sure to tune in when you return.. wishing you all the best..
2 or 3 more episodes to come of series 1 then at some point there will be series 2. The place is just too good to stop with one trip 👍
Hello new here came across your channel this is very good what you guys do very interesting big thank you and like hit the bell also
Welcome 👍
midges - run a way!
Brian McConnon midges are not too bad and when the van is small and easy to park there is always a better place nearby. 👍🙂
Do you need to ticket for visiting the cliffs? That cliffs really bring back lots of good memories. Will the drone flyable in such strong winds.
We didn’t book in advance. The drone can fly in strong winds and conditions were acceptable that day.
If your looking for even bigger cliffs than the cliffs of moher the slieve league cliffs in donegal are bigger than the cliffs of moher and not many people go there so no worries of lots of people
We did give those a go but weather stopped play. That is in the storm episode 👍
Ah ok hopefully next time around I've been enjoying your videos.looking forward to the next video as rossalre is in my home county of wexford
Cornellius O' Brien was important, but the O' Briens were a leading family in that area and in ireland,so not every thing named after O'Brien would be named after cornellus
I didn’t realise that 👍
@@LifeistooshortCK yep from Brian Boru whom I think I mentioned to you before in one of the FB groups
Great video. Where are you going next after Ireland?
Not made our minds up yet and it all depends on lockdowns and how nervous people become. 👍
I have watched from the start of Ireland and love it .I've done most of wat you have in the car .how far are yous going?
Hi Wez. We are back in the UK now but we have 2 or 3 videos yet to come from that trip. 👍
@@LifeistooshortCK I wrote that at the start of the vid didn't no you were heading back till the end .enjoyed watching your trip and hope you enjoyed our little island
No worries I have done that myself 👍
So how does Irish Pizza rate to some of the other Places you have been able to enjoy a slice at?
Also just wondering what are your favorite two toppings? And what are two toppings you would never have on your pizza? Always love to hear these answers...
I found that pizza to be pretty good to be honest. Its only problem was it should have been twice as big. Favourites are barbecue sauce and ground beef. Never have would be mussels as Carol is allergic to them and spinach but Carol loves that. Its difficult when you like to share 😏👍
Ye should make videos for tourism ireland.
Good point. I also believe there are cheaper places to park and walk in but we didn’t know that then 👍
@@LifeistooshortCK Spoken like a true intrepid rambler but it is a bit of a hike.
The swans may like to swim, but I'm not sure that the Irish do. You wouldn't think that they were an island nation. Non of my wife's many siblings can swim, and most of their kids do not. Maybe that's why there are so many lifebouys?
Good point 😁👍
How things have changed since you left Derry and N.Ireland as a whole. Strabane/Derry is now one of the worst places for the spreading of cvd19 in the UK.
Sorry to hear that news. Lockdowns are popping up all over at the moment. Glad we came home now as being locked down in the house is much better than the van. Stay safe David 👍
@@LifeistooshortCK glad to see yous did the sensible thing and put the trip on pause rather than rush around the counties and miss lots of good places in Ireland. Hopefully it won't be long until the little red van is back on Éireann.
😁😁😁
👍👍👍
u pronounced lahinch correct! famous for surfing..
Cheers Paul. I only need 20 more trips and I will be talking like a native 😏👍
Sorry to hear of your ill health, come back anytime (Ennis Native)
Clarecastle Wiki: Clarecastle (An Clár or Irish: Droichead an Chláir, ( pronounced Dre Hid On Claw-ir) meaning "Bridge of the Plateau") is a village just south of Ennis in County Clare, Ireland.
Lack of local knowledge on our part for missing them. Many thanks for that info on Clare Castle. We always like to know the story 👍
