Couldn’t agree with Mike more on Freeman’s shift after the NIU game. You wish it wouldn’t have taken that considering he already had the blunders at Marshall and Stanford, but his whole demeanor js different, the way he talks, etc. I love it.
Great show as always. Heard an opinion on the conferences pushing for a play in tourney instead of a championship game so they can get more teams in and have an extra game championship weekend instead of one championship game.
I share Mike's shock that Tommy Rees would be seriously considered for the head coaching job at North Carolina. Freeman was considered 1 of the top DC's in the country. Rees had no such rep as an OC.
Rees has been the OC at ND(2 playoffs) Bama(SEC title + playoffs) not too shabby of a resume. Thanks for watching and appreciate you joining in the chat.
Listen we all talk about who has the easiest path but at the end of the day everyone is eventually gonna have to beat a good team to win a championship
No doubt about it, but PSU has the easiest path to the Final Four. ND playing IU and UGA is no easy task. Enjoy the ballgames and thanks for leaving a comment.
Tim, I don’t understand the whole part you’re saying about needing a transfer qb to avoid the 9-3, 8-4 learning curve… how is it that Georgia, Ohio state, etc can avoid those learning curves but we can’t? With the exception of Will Howard I don’t think either team has had a transfer qb and they’ve been in contention for the cfp for pretty much the entirety of the past decade.
That’s not what he said…….! If a portal qb helps you avoid that type of season, why are so many people opposed to it? I think the young guys in the qb room are capable of leading this team. However, if this ends up being an 8/9 win team. Don’t talk about what Freeman isn’t as a coach. If those guys were READY…..not just “Talented”. They would’ve won the job!
UGA & OSU are at a different level when it comes to bringing in talent. My point on the QB is if you can get a better QB than who is on the roster go get him. Thanks for the question and joining in the chat with us.
If u check out Indiana stats, they ran up scores on every team. Their starting team was in the fourth quarter in all game. The quterback thru his 6 touchdown pass in the fourth quarter of the Purdue game.
Purdue is a rivalry game and Cignetti mentioned he wanted to score 100. Running up scores still means you are playing for 60 minutes, and the other team cannot stop you.
I'm with Hyde, get the best players, even if it's via the portal. You don't think these other elite programs aren't hitting that portal for the best player? Evaluate what you got and if they aren't it, go get ya a dawg! Just win baby! Go Irish, Beat the Bobby Knights!
Every year these kids are looking at what is best for them. Keeping half your class for 4 years will be a luxury in the near future. Thanks for watching the show.
I have been a Notre Dame fan for years. I remember Joe Theismann playing in the 70's. I am tired and true Blue and Gold. But thinking that Notre Dame, this year can win against Ga is just hopefully at best. I keep hearing the stats of our passing defense when we haven't really played against a really good passing team. We can't stop the run and even against Navy and Army they were moving the ball at will until the turnovers. Well turnovers are not replicable . Aganst and elite team that can stop our run and that has a balanced attack we are going to absolutely need those turnovers to survive
There were no turnovers Vs Army until Daily fumbled well after the game was decided.. Georgia Bulldog teams of yesteryear also happen to be a commodity that are not replicable. You suffer from. BKPTSD is all and believe the ESPiN hype regarding a team who was run of the field by a mid/average Bama squad who lost by 21 to 6-6 OU.. Of course a victory Vs the mighty Dawgs is not a guarantee but no game come playoff time will be guaranteed, this Irish team will have to fight for each and every inch-same as every other cfp participant. The fact that there is no truly dominant team this season leaves this postseason tournament wide-open and that's all we can ask for.. Can't go back and change the pasr season's schedule now in order to have a more accurate depiction of how this team can or should perform Vs elite competition.. Can only play who signs up to play this 2024 version of the Irish and those who don't drop us and reschedule next season at Hard Rock in a game they feel they'll have a better shot in. 😂😂✌🏼☘
@ 😂😂😂😂😂 wow what a diatribe. Did you see how USC who was 6-6 this year moved the ball on us. It was at will until the pic 6’s. And they had a mid defense. If you cannot replicate that against Ga we are in trouble because we may not score more than 13 pts against that defense. I’m just calling for a more realistic view of what we have done this year. Look at who we have played. Ga Tech without Haines King.! That’s a much different team. Navy had a hurt QB and we had 6?turnovers. Texas A&M Weigman was throwing up on the sidelines.
@@323lessthanzeroSee you in the quarterfinals dog breath. The SEC has lost all it's old advantages and is on it's deathbed. Woke ESPiN can't save you now and neither can Gunnar Stockton. 💯😂😂✌🏼☘😎
I believe if OSU beat Michigan, ND would have jumped Penn State. Penn State got to stay ahead because they were playing in the Big 10 championship. Ward Manuel is still a Big 10 AD needed his teams to get the most spots and best spots possible.
Penn State would have been 11-1 with the only loss to 11-1 Ohio State. The committee was not moving ND above PSU. It came down to the NIU vs. Ohio State losses for these 2 in the end.
I think that teams should be ranked on number and quality of wins (not on number of loses). SMU should never be ranked #8 before championship games (they defeat anyone good)
SMU was undefeated in ACC play. Quality wins over Group of 4 schools ranked in the computers top 45(top 1/3 of college football) should be talked about much more than the committee top 25 that they choose. Is #25 that much better than #28 for example. Is Mizzu really better than 8-4 Louisville even though Louisville is a top 15 team in nearly every computer ranking? Appreciate you are joining in the chat.
Hot take, the bye makes sense as I think Texas would have not played to guarantee the bye and it would set a precedent to skip conference championships.
Singer...I like you, but you're way off base on Tommy Rees. Dude was in the upper echilon of offensive production at Notre Dame and Alabama, with lackluster receivers and an undeveloped QB at Bama that got tremendously better under Rees' leadership. Clearly a great recruiter. Has NFL experience. North Carolina is a mid-tier program in a mid-tier power 4 conference. He's absolutely qualified for that job.
I’m with Tim…..! If ND goes sub 11 wins and misses the playoffs next year….(as much as I like the young talent in the QB room now….!) I don’t wanna hear 💩 about how “Freeman isn’t the guy!” If a portal QB elevates you CLEARLY….! Then portal it is! Our fan base can be totally clueless at times!
@TimHydecoach I agreed with you. I was saying that sarcastically cause of Mike's reaction. I also was thinking, who the hell is UNC football? Lol. It could be built into something and there's an open lane in the acc with alot of teams being down, the VA tech and NC states of the world. But Mike was acting like he was interviewing for Michigan or something
Can we stop talking about what the bracket could’ve been and talk about what is actually going to happen. We gotta lock the F in on IU and not underestimate them.
Nobody is going into the portal at the qb position for “average”! IF said player doesn’t develop into what a coaching staff expects….that’s a different story! I thinks the guys in the room now can get you 9 wins. However, if you’re championship level everywhere else….you don’t want a guy to get you over the hump? Crazy!
I'm glad ND is on this side of the bracket. Much better to only have UGA and Penn State than to have Texas, Tenn, OSU, Oregon.
You guys are the best, go Irish
Thank you!
Great show!

I believe ticket prices will fall dramatically by next Thursday. I can't believe there is a large appetite for $1,200 tickets.
Going to be in the teens once 8pm rolls around. Whichever team can throw the ball will win.
Indiana had a very easy schedule like Penn State and SMU.
ND is barely above IU & SMU in strength of schedule. Penn State is 40 spots higher than ND.
