The phone booth is a fun gag for how many messages can play from it, and the snarky one about the weather is one I always remember~ Remake Change: A free Hot Dog's added to the top of the ladder in the back hallways. I love the touch that Grubba shows you the Champion's Room and the Major League Locker Room, but purposely skips over the Minor League Locker Room, so you get to see how much of a shantyburg the room is only after you sign up to be a fighter~ Remake Change(The Best, IMO): The GBAs used to organize fights now play the GBA startup sound when you interact with them and were made into the transparent GBAs. Remake Change 2: The holo-screen in the lobby? That now becomes a second way to check the fighters of the Glitz Pit. The fighters also now have their images visible in the rankings, although they're silhouettes until you fight them with the exception of Rawk Hawk. Remake Change 3: It is impossible to go down a rank from losing a match anymore, you'll just remain at your current rank and get paid a pity coin if you do lose. As a result, Exhibition Matches were added to let you re-fight fighters you've beaten before. Remake Change 4(Last For Today, I think): The game now displays what condition Grubba's given you in the bottom left, and plays a chime + puts a green checkmark on it if you've fulfilled the condition for that match~ The Goomba Bros. will always have the condition "Appeal to the crowd at least once" during the first fight with them. They are also mistakenly called the "Hoppin' Hardheads" as their secondary title in the Gamecube version's first fight with them. The Goomba Bros. titles in other languages: -Most languages refer to them as some version of "Goomba Bros.", although French does a pun on Chewing Gum and Goomba for Chewingooms, Dutch calls them "De Goombazen", a combination of Goomba and "bazen", the word for bosses, and they're known as Goombula V in Spanish, in reference to music group "Fórmula V" -Their second title, the Meteorite Hardheads is translated as "The Hardheads From Space" in Japanese, "Iron Heads From the Universe" in Chinese, "The Plucky Heads" in Dutch, "Unstuckable" in French, "The Cosmics" in German, "Stone Heads From Space" in Korean, and something akin to "The Strength, The Fury, The Passion" in Italian and Spanish. Well if more of these fights want you to use the Appeal command, having all your power concentrated in your partner while Mario works the crowd might work out great!

Anyway, some differences in the remaster: - The walk and talk scene, you don't actually skip the walking portions. - As you noted in 12:09, you referred to the terminal as a GBA. In the remaster, it is *_very explicitly_* a GBA, with its classic shape and the GBA bootup sound when you access the terminal. - Also, the music they do for the fights here is GOOD.
It was a rough entry into Rogueport's culture, but Mario finally has health insurance again, and all it took was getting a dangerous and grueling job to get it.
i definitely didnt notice the reptitive dialogue as a kid, but to be honest i think i had problems with reading comprehension and i remember getting stuck in games a lot and using gamefaqs, so its possible i just kinda mashed through a lot of dialogue and didnt really read it. maybe a lot of kids my age did that and thats why they felt the need to reiterate things that they wanted to make sure you didnt miss. as for repeating the condition at the start of the battle though, thats actually super useful because sometimes youre mashing through the terminal text and miss the condition. in the remake, they actually leave it on screen and give you a little indicator when youve successfully achieved it
Yep, you are reminding me of how much repetition there is in the game. Not just the backtracking, but also the sheer amount of repeating tutorial dialogue as well. It's a shame, there's a lot of wit to the dialogue in the game, but it was made in an era where Nintendo felt like they had to explain everything so that even the most inexperienced player could not get stuck. And as this video shows, the results are not always graceful.
I feel like I can understand it in this one case. Cause they dont have a way to show your condition mid fight and whether you cleared it or not. (UNlike the remake) So they really wanna make sure any kids playing realize YOU GOTTA READ THE TEXT TO KNOW HOW TO ADVANCE.
