Design and printing process behind screenprinting a poster for the band PUBLIC SERVICE BROADCASTING to commemorate the launch of their new album 'The Race for Space'.
The basics of screenprinting involve creating a stencil on a stretched mesh screen for each individual colour of the design. The first colour of each poster is hand printed, one at a time, and left to dry. Then the next stencil is carefully registered to line up with the first, the posters are collected, stacked up, and printed with the 2nd colour. The same process repeats again for the 3rd and final colour.
It is a fairly time and labour intensive process but the end results are worth it: unique, individually hand-printed pieces of art, with vibrant colours which you can feel (and even smell) on the surface of the poster!
The poster will be released on 26/2/15 and you can purchase one direct from the band here: bit.ly/1LgXR9N
This print was comissioned by the band as a souvenir of the launch of their new record 'The Race for Space', which I also created the album artwork for. It's a great record, you should definitely check it out. Support the band and go see them live if you can.
Thanks for watching.
