True, but maybe only because a film is very different than stills, it's always hard to mix both media. You don't watch video/movies the same way you look at some photographs… Then going back and forth the two medias is always difficult. And in this case, you get very good glass, the Leica cine Summicron ! Awesome indeed !

One day I'll have this camera! The filosophy of the shooting is everything, actually it is the basics! I own a canon t5i and I always shoot with the LCD screen closed trying to experience or mimic the film relation. The distance between the soul of the photographer and the framed person is closer! You have to understand your equipment, but you need to trust on your ability, certainly this will make better photographers!

All the things around a Leica camera is amazingly poetic, it makes us feel so alive inside and creative... a calm and warm sense of humanity .... I love all the the Leica environment ... Hopefully one day i'll be able to have my first Leica ... Till then i'll keep dreaming ...
    Beautiful ... Leica...

Haha that so naive you said that. No not really, you should try watch Nikon advertisement too then, it's "poetic" and so emotional wayyyy more than this and would make you cry, that's how ads should be made! How they could attracted you emotionally! And I think this video is really Nikon-ish ads. But Leica is still one of the best camera out there though.

    • @jpsmith994
      @jpsmith994 5 років тому +6

@@DessieTots that is a very unilateral statement, not factually true in any way, and ultimately not what this is about. The price of the camera has nothing to do with anything. You've never heard a musician even reference instrument cost. Tools are tools. If they inspire you your result is success. If you don't like the tool you're using you won't want to go out and use it. That's more the point.

What a super film. From the first photo I took with my uncle’s Leica in 1968, they have been a constant and I have probably had over ten. I’m looking forward to moving to medium format and plan to buy the S system in 2019. The chemistry between these three photographers is a powerful reminder that seeing things through others’ eyes is what makes photography a never ending challenge and pervasive enjoyment. And I’m going to Porto in March.

I own canon pro gear and Leica , and I agree with one of the photographers here that shooting with Leica is much more fun at least for me. I dont own the latest you can buy a used Leica M9 plus budget Leica lens (Leica lenses are better on M) and enjoy the experience . I truely believe that shooting with Leica M or rangefinder is great different experience compared to Auto focus cameras. but ofcourse they are not for everyone.

Just wished Leica had taken this opportunity to price the md as an entry level Leica. Street photography as a concept is dying due to over publication and repeated clichés, Leica could have taken the helm and made it more accessible to true enthusiasts who can perform magic. The absolute lack of features will already deter most amateurs who would otherwise dilute the brand.

My father owned leica 3f ,3g,m3, then m2.
I am 65 years old and grew up with leica.
M3 double stroke was born around the time it was released So i was using leica when i was a child. I now used the Q2 and a nikon D800 with 24-70 and i have two nikon coolpix model A
I have worked the streets for fifty years now.
And my photo books are produced by Blurb.
I heard of cartier Bresson when i was also a child. But i don't copy his style of shooting and i look at all the work of other street photographers
      And mix all thier styles
      Thats my style.
Also i have visited the old leica factory and new factory in Wetzler many times.
But the camera you use doesn't take the picture your eye does.
      Regards Michael Davies
      And keep shooting.

As usual the stills are not shown. This falsely perpetuates the myth that anyone with a Leica can become a creator of masterpieces. You can achieve the same with any camera as long as you realise that the vision is yours. That guy prancing around with the camera at chest level and barely pausing to think or engage his subjects - he may as well be using a $100 point and shoot. Considering the price, a Leica is a tool for someone who has already invested the time learning the craft. Modern cameras have every feature under the sun... but manual controls are still there in almost every one of them.

You don't have the comments disabled, so let me tell you what I think. You are the biggest scam in the camera industry. The only thing that you have great is the marketing department. It is truly a remarkable feat to convince people that removing the rear screen is a positive improvement of a new model of a camera. Reading your advertisement materials and watching your videos, I must conclude they are great. An average person might easily become impressed by them and feel that your cameras indeed are something special. They are not. For one, they are overpriced, but okay, screw that. The biggest problem is that they really are garbage, from an actual perspective of a photographer.
If we focus on the M cameras, my single biggest complain is the low quality of your sensors, which are mediocre at best. If you had sensors with the highest dynamic range, the highest pixel count, the best iso performance in the industry, this alone would change the way I see your brand. But your sensors are poor.
Next, focusing. If you had an overlay EVF in the M, like Fujifilm, with accurate focus peaking, ideally with two colors (meaning that the sharpest parts of the image would be outlined by a distinct color, and the rest of the depth of field would have another color), one could begin to see that camera as a serious professional choice. You could keep the rangefinder as well, why not. But having only the rangefinder? Well, no comment... You could even incorporate focus peaking into the optical viewfinder.
Another thing is video. Instead of improving the video functionality of the M, you ditched it altogether. What you should have done is incorporated raw 4k or even 8k recording. That would be a nice feature to complement the above mentioned focus peaking. They would work together really well.
But perhaps it is time for me to wake up. Why am I even writing this? Why would you bother doing anything of what I wrote here when you can just make a variation of the M10 without screen and watch the Leica sheep spend thousands dollar on it, right? So good luck with that.

Marian Palko you're an average gear-oriented enthusiast. It requires a lot of knowledge and deep passion for photography, not to mention an open mind and the opportunity to truly try a Leica M, before you can even begin to understand what Leica M is all about. Respect is one of the first characteristics of developed minds, calling a Scam company to the single most important endeavor in the history of photography is certainly a very disrespectful statement to say the least. From my humble perspective, Leica MD allows a photographer to separate the experience of taking a picture from the experience of reviewing it. When you have time to do both independently, the reward and excitement is much higher. The negativism against Leica M system comes from photographers looking to produce pictures, instead of crafting it. It's like 3D printing vs sculpting, one's easier and on average can even be the path to better results, however when you take extra effort doing something (manual focusing, composing through an eccentric optical viewfinder instead of an electronic or a lens reflex one, and so on) the reward is always higher. Who's better for society, motivate easy working goals or hard working ones? I can't believe people won't translate the tools of expression to the base of art.
