I have never had an oval thumb, but I do now. After I saw your video of after opening up the round thumb hole your thumb fits one way but not the other. Well, that was me. So, my pro shop guy measured my thumb side to side and front to back. Since he did this I haven't thrown under 630 in two weeks. With the round hole I was squeezing more and my releases sucked. Now, my hand is relaxed and my releases are much cleaner. So thank you JR for that oval thumb video.
@@Tenpindoctors my local shop is $50 if they order it for you and $60 if you buy it yourself. I still saved $5 buying it myself because I found it for $20 less than they quoted me and even spent an extra $5 for drilling protection.
Me and my daughter just got our first mill and are learning the drilling ropes. Your not paying for the time it takes to drill it your paying for the years of experience and expertise it takes to drill it right. Even though were still learning i can tell you theres more that goes into it than what your seeing.
This is exactly what I've been dealing with ever since I got this new Axiom Pearl drilled. The last ball I had was a Hammer Gauntlet and it never rubbed or left pain on side of thumb. That's the only difference between you and I. My issue rub/burn (skin practically ripping off) is on the side of my thumb near the knuckle and it's the side of thumb that faces the index. When this new ball was drilled the Pro shop guy asked me if I wanted to change the lateral pitch of my thumb. He said he felt it would make my release feel better. This was despite me not really having an issue with my release. I feel this change in my thumb pitch is what's causing the rub that's not happening. The thumb hole also appears to be a lil too large so I'm going to insert with some tape and hopefully resolve the issue without needing changes to how it's drilled. It definitely sucks feeling like you can't bowl more than a couple games because of the intense pain in the thumb from the rubbing/cutting. Especially when I'm missing my target because of the rub/drag as the ball is trying to come off my thumb.
Just my opinion. Your pro shop guy means well, but without lessons to “help” with your release, it may create more issues. Get another opinion from another shop. Best to video your release from the back and then from the side. Recommend “Art of Bowling” on UA-cam. Good luck!
I drilled an oval thumb based off of a video you made a few weeks ago. It worked in principle, but I did have to move the pitches to make it fit. Overall great stuff! Thank you!
$70 is a rip off just to drill ball for somebody. The skill to do it properly is not worth that much. I know you want it to be so you can make a lot of money off of people but you really shouldn't be trying to create a false market and rip people off. Sounds like you're charging what you think you're pride is worth and not charging what the work is actually worth.
Im glad im not the only person that uses the slick tape to tighten the turbo thumb slug.

Ok the guys at my pro shoppe,Bolwero north brunswick charges 45 plus tax for a drill thieves.
45 is cheap for a blank full ball drill. You won’t get it that cheap at my shop. Sorry

Great videos but as a lifetime machinist/ woodworker I can’t believe how many pro shop owners I see using drill presses without safety glasses!

I found a small dab of turbo glue on top of each tab. Let cure for 24 hours restores my slugs.
As a machinist, you need to be wearing safety glasses JR. Trust me when I say anything can happen.
Great Vlog JR...
Are you changing the pitches to create that oval? For your 45° angle what are you changing the pitch for each cut?
Best of luck at the WSOB would love to see you make a show. Another great video! Hope the angle and pitch change helps. #tenpinbowling
How much would it cost to get some lessons from ya ?
What switch grip do you use? I use the ultimates
JR used to work for Turbo and I think had a hand in designing the switch. Turbo for him!
Cecil ???
