Today we have a very special guest... Simon Bradbury! Firefly co-founder and Stronghold series Lead Designer has taken time out to join us and reflect on both the original version of the 'castle sim' and our upcoming Definitive Edition, releasing via Steam on November 7th 2023.
Mission 18 is well known within the Stronghold community as one of the most brutal challenges posed by the original game way back in 2001. Your final battle against The Pig is infamous within the game's community for its uncompromising difficulty, making it a true badge of honour for those who have bested it. As such, it was the perfect choice when it came to a scenario to play in the run up to release!
So join us as Simon rises to the challenge of one of the most hotly contested Stronghold missions ever made, while also enjoying an exclusive first look at a legendary Stronghold campaign mission.

Simon totally beat this mission on his first try. We didn't have to edit around 5 failed attempts what-so-ever. 😬😬😬

Can the decals stays forever in the terrain? Please set a let an option for us, high end pc users, só we can activate such things, like bodies, stones from mangonel, walls, ashes, arrows and blood stays for 10 minutes or foverer. PLEAAASE 😢

The DE version is quite literally how the game looked back in the early release days when viewed through 7 year old eyes at time. Lovely bit of work, also love the additional facts from Simon during his siege.
P.S. Is there any way of getting the t-shirt that Sak's wearing? Or for that fact, is there a dedicated merch store for Firefly? Couldn't seem to find one myself

Both the original Stronghold and Stronghold Crusader were a huge part of my childhood, though I always loved the original more.

Das Problem ist das age of empires 2 das hat und das Spiel massive Grafik aufreibenden dann können es Leute mit einem schlechteren PC nicht spielen
Die sollen das lieber in einem neuen Stronghold 4 einfließen lassen sobald die anderen Teile genug Geld eingespielt haben als Definition edition
@@tobiasm5579 I think a good option would be to add these effects as an on/off filter, just like in Diablo 2 Resurrected. However, I'm not sure if Stronghold's engine can support that kind of stuff

In das neue Stronghold könnte man auch den Angstfaktor besser einfließen lassen das zu Aufständen kommt wenn man grausam ist und das Bier zum Beispiel zwar die Moral hebt aber wenn der Bierausschank zu hoch ist die Soldaten schlechter kämpfen und wenn es gar kein Bier gibt das die Leute nicht nur Brot brauchen sondern auch Wasser das würde Belagerung einfacher machen auch das man Soldaten bestechen kann und die Tierhäuser öffnen
Was auch ganz geil wäre wenn man die Waffenkammer kombinieren könnte Lanzenträger mit Harnisch haben zum Beispiel gleichen Wiederstand wie Streitkolben Kämpfer oder das Armbrüste den gleichen schaden wie Langbogen machen
Das man Bogenschützen entsprechen ausrüsten kann mit Pfeilen gegen Pferde die mehr schaden machen
Und wo du bei Wetter bist das zum Beispiel bei Regen kein Pfeil und Bolzen geschossen werden kann
Oder neue Einheiten wie kleine rammen die nur aus 10 gold kosten und von 4 Soldaten bedient werden können
Oder Kanonen die auch Mal in die Luft fliegen können bei einem Schuss
Tunnelbauer die Minen legen können usw.
Alles was ich gerne in einem Stronghold 4 hatte
@@tobiasm5579I'd like them to make Stronghold 4 using the 2.5d pixel graphics of the Crusader and Stronghold. 3D just feels like it doesn't fit for this series.

I just wanna ask one thing, who is the legend behind that awesome stronghold classic music with flute, soft drums, harmonium and jangles.
The graphics of Stronghold and Crusader were the best.
I don't really know why you abandoned them when making the sequels.
This is the main reason why the first 2 games are the most loved and played despite being older.
I really wish for new Sronghold games in different eras, different buildings, different troops and mechanics but with the original graphics.
That's what the community loves and wants.
That was so fun. I hope such videos and new definitive editions will be announced.

you can use the ram to punch to the first wall on the left side then the inner wall then just rush on the wall and go straight for the keep ..
Are there any plans to release this on GOG, like all the previous games?

Very impressed! I miss 2.5D RTS gaming and this seems like a modernized version... dream come true.
As stated many times over.. Crusader.
I always felt the Stronghold series is better in the 2.5D pixel graphics. No hate on the 3D games but the pixel graphics suits the series more. It gives it a lot of personality.
Don't want to alarm you guys, but there's a guy with a sword behind you. Act with caution.
Any changes planned for mission 15 for DE?
I think the movie he mentions is maybe El Cid? I can't think of other movies with sieges and Charlton Heston in them.

is this the original game? or in the original game, the mission will be changed with a new castle and a different army? I see it is very similar to the old one,

A cool idea is that if you complete a level you can play free play that means you can place wheat farms in the first level when you play free play or you play story again its like in the lego games

I Hope you guys dont do the auto trading in the market place it will ruin the game... in my opinion
bro with out auto trading it takes too much time, especially during war you cant optimize your storage

Even if they add it you can just not use it. In singleplayer you can then keep your cookie-clicker engagement and just not use the autotrader and for multiplayer your apm should be elsewhere already.
