i think you'll find Normal People is less about overly sweet, gushy romance and more about discovering what the characters mean to each other; i feel the same way about contemporary romance and hope you enjoy it, it's one of my favorites! :)
I found your channel very recently, you have such a unique view of the world, such a beautiful way of thinking and expressing yourself, thanks for inspiring me to pursue my dreams and fall even more in love with books and literature
Genuinely my favourite thing is seeing annotations in secondhand books. My copy of protgoras and meno is full of annotations making fun of the pretentious translator lol
as a german I feel the need to tell you to forget about faust II (it’s super strange and lacks everything that makes the first part so very special) and focus on faust I instead, it’s weird and special and magical. and it leaves so much room for interpretation. enjoy!!
An inspiring and super calming video as always! Little side note from a German follower: Göthe (Goethe) was a german writer and is pronounced GÖt(h)E ^^ no big deal of course but I thought you might want to know
yea, definitely read the trigger warnings when it comes to the lovely bones. when i was in elementary school i found it in the school library and picked it up not knowing the dark subject matter it contained. it's an amazing book, it's just not to be taken lightly
I'm curious what you'll think of Normal People, for I would never categorise it as romance at all. It's more of a psychological coming of age analysis and the romance itself more and exploration of interpersonal relationship than a "romance" as in romance novel.
@@nataliabmachado I would say Romance novels and novels about romantic relationships are one and the same. I can't think of an example of a novel or story of a romantic relationship (regardless of whether it's a "psychological analysis") that isn't a romance novel. Though I respect your opinion, and you gave me lots to think about, Normal People was, in principle, a romance novel.
Ah! I’d never heard of that book inspired by Henry Darger till now, the excerpt sounds fitting. He was a reclusive janitor who obsessively wrote and drew about these child warrior sort of sister characters he’d created for something around 50 years in secret. His work is not for the faint of heart, but I personally take great interest in it!
i'm from Germany and read Faust in school (that is the first book) - it was so captivating, had so much depth and from months of analyzing it I actually found my love for complex books and classics. it's made me really consider studying literature...
I really admire the way you speak. the words you choose and the authenticity you radiate is really special. I find myself sitting and smiling through your videos. you've got a great soul :-)
gosh everyday u post i simply run to view the video (i believe i speak on everyone’s part for this) you are such an inspiration, i bought all the books u recommend and i was never let down once
watching your videos always motivate me to finish my literature homework lol, and because of your love for edgar allan poe, I've picked up a copy from my school library to read. its been a magical read so far :)
i hope the final book you showed with the moon excerpts includes something from italo calvino’s The Distance of the Moon from The Cosmicomics because. . . he equates the moon to an object of desire so wonderfully and whimsically
There is a song in Spanish that is very poetic and true and the song says That was Life and it goes on to say And My Youth was gone without knowing about Life the song in Spanish is called Eso Era La Vida by Emmanuel but you could also listen to it in a cover version.
I highly recommend you to read Faust. It’s Goethe’s masterpiece and it took him 58 years to write both parts. Btw. I love the name Mephistopheles too 😁
I love screenplays too! You should definitely make a separate video for your screenplays collection. Anyway, cheers, been loving all your contents since day 1 💛✨

It’s so sad I can’t go thrifting because one I read on English but to not live there so there’s no chance of me finding anything good and second my city just doesn’t have any thrift stores otherwise I would be an absolute thrift lover
I feel like normal people is the romance book for people who don't like romance. It's more about two people's dynamic with each other than a strict romance
You should definitely research and look up the artwork of Henry Darger! Highly recommended is the documentary, “In the Realms of the Unreal” dedicated to his enigmatic life and outsider art.
I love vlogs so much and Frankenstein is one of my all time favourites, too :) Goethe is German and you would pronounce it /ˈɡɜːtə/ :) I much prefer the sorrows of young Werther but still, I’m v interested to hear your opinion on Faust 🌚
I try to look in a few op-shops before buying a classic book, have found quite a few, Guys if you're in Australia, Look in op shops before you buy the Jane Austen or Brontë's novels in store especially, I see them too often 💀💀
Is Darger: His Girls about the Outsider artist from Chicago who obsessively wrote and illustrated an epic story about young girls who go on an adventure? You can visit his single room occupancy apartment at the Outsider Art Museum in Chicago.
i adore your vids ohmygoddd! your recommendations are always so helpful and your vids and editing always look so pretty, if u haven’t already, could you - even if its just in a tiktok or a comment - tell us if u listen to any music while reading/what you listen to
Amazing video*.* I was wondering if you have goodreads or something similar because I would love to see what books you casually read and how you like them etc:)))
"all I can notice about people, even the people I love, is their toxic traits" ...... i,... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! .
I don’t know if this was just the lighting but you had a glowing white light around your shoulders when I was watching the video I thought it was cool?
I just have to know your opinion on Normal people. I feel the same way about romance in general, it gives me eek. I would never categorize Normal people as romance. It is so much more then romance and to call it that feels degrading to me.

Agreed!
So a romance novel
@@fadinglightsarefading in my mind, romance novels and novels about relationships are not the same thing

I love second hand book shopping 😩
Could spend hours inside the store
“Yes you nailed it he does want to kill the king” 💀
Does anyone know what the piano song from the beginning is? I love the emotion in it! 💜
If you love poems, a must read is Poems of Fernando Pessoa. I think you will surprise yourself!
it's so nice knowing i'm not the only one that hyperfixates on words and mephistopheles is definitely one of them for me too!!
I love the way she said 'bargain!'
morning Dakota! ❤️
Ah the key to notice understand any story = Who What Where When Which Why How.

Could you do a video on recommendations that are written in easy English? Really into literature but English isn’t my first language
Whelp, this seems like a close enough of a sign for me to go thrift book shopping
dakota i adore you more than life itself
Eeeek, what a coincidence! I actually went to Readings in Emporium a few days ago too and bought a copy of Outline as well, hope you like it

Its Mephistopheles from German folklore or mythology, also called Mephesto the devil.
Hello from British Columbia Canada 🇨🇦👍❤️👋 I watched a video where you were looking for recommendations; 100 years of solitude/Gabriel Garcia Marquez .
Wow! I'm 23 years old too. We have so much in common. Maybe we should both fly halfway across the world and meet somewhere in Europe. Paris perhaps?
You have so much in common because you’re the same age? Wow that is uncommon indeed
black swans by eve babitz is such a good book
missed you
You look like you should have been part of the cast of Pretty Little Liars. The nerdy, pretty interesting intelligent one. Love your style.
Amazing video*.*
I was wondering if you have goodreads or something similar because I would love to see what books you casually read and how you like them etc:)))
Please tell me what song was playing during the montage! I’m desperate!!
my class was assigned to read the frankenstein playscript for literature class; a lot of my classmates absolutely did not enjoy it haha
i love ur videos
Have you read "This is How You Lose the Time War"?

Do you have Goodreads? 🙈🙈🙈
Please drop the locations 🙏🙏🙏
Just spitballing here your next signature opener would be: “What’s up you book loving fuckers?!” 😂
Normal people is different. It's not that traditional cheesy toxic romance. It's more about the characters

you're so delicate
I read normal people & it was the worst book ever
