I think you had to normalize the axe and then harden the axe after welding because of its exposure to thermal stress from welding.

К сожалению, получился лишь сувенир. Как рабочий топор использовать невозможно. Без термической обработки лезвия обойтись невозможно, да еще сварной шов поперек лезвия.

Чем инструмент деда внуку не угодил?За что внук топор деда изувечил?Из топора получилась бесполезная игрушка.Мастер очень далёк от металловедения.Топор снова лопнет в зоне сварки,возможно при первых ударах.Да и рубить им только овощи...недолго.
