What an amazing video. It seems that the person filming this, took randoms shots of everything around them, not leaving anything out. Because it's silent, and rather fuzzy, it feels like a dream of going back in time, love this, it's a real treasure.
OMG! I can't believe how many of those business's are gone now. I graduated 7 yrs after you so I totally remember all of these places in Downtown Plymouth! Wish you had a shot of the Park and the Movie Theater! Thank you so much for sharing. This was really cool!
Rene, this is incredible.... I remember that 70 Superbird at Colony Chrysler! (It was there a long time) and is that fender shot of the white Rambler your family used to own?! You probably have the only footage of George's Party Store on earth. I grew up down the street from both. BTW....my aunt dated your brother back then....hope you are all well. Thanks for posting this!!!
Hi Scott.. Thanks for your post. Yep, that is the fender of our white Rambler. I found this in my trove of stuff and thought it would be fun to share!! Glad you enjoyed it and brought back memories. Its been fun to read people's comments.
I grew up in Plymouth and really appreciated this. Thank you for sharing. I was hoping for a picture of the Trading Post/Western Auto store on Penniman. It was near the post office. Does anyone remember it - and better yet have any pictures. No luck finding any evidence of it on the internet.
Strange to see what the streets ive been on so many times looked like back then. Almost everything has changed although you can see a familiar building here and there
1:29 This headline "Nixon's Top Aides Disagree On Infiltration by Viet Reds" was on the Christmas Eve 1969 edition of the Detroit Free Press. Merry Christmas!
Whatever happened to the daily drive in from the 50's early 60's. My mother worked there there as a teen does anyone have any info or people that worked there
It was on the NW corner of Main Street & Ann Arbor Road. Closed in the late 1990s and there's a Rite Aid there now. There is one Daly Drive In remaining in Livonia Michigan on Plymouth Road.
3:56 Grandma's Take Home is Lee's Famous Recipe. It has been all my life and it still sells the BEST fried chicken I know. The KFC at 4:20 went out of business in 1990 because of the great quality of Lee's food compared to theirs which was decent at best.
A movie about a newspaper man in Plymouth not revealing his source about a murder in Plymouth was made when I was in High school. The older guy in the streets of Sanfrancisco starred in it.
Love this! Takes me back! I used to love going to Kresge with my Mom ... So many fun memories of my early days in downtown Plymouth!

wow, what a great trip down memory lane. I miss the sweet shop, and minerva dunning and the DQ! i'd kill for chili fries and a shake from daly's too.
Jaime Love DQ?! Dairy King is far superior! Everything else yes I agree
Thank you for this! I've lived in Plymouth most of my life and loved seeing this;)
It was taken in December of 1969 in Plymouth Michigan, because of Christmas decorations around town. There are some of 1970 cars on the streets.

About 8 years before I lived there...

Word of Honor, with Karl Maulden...around 1980....he was on the front page of the Observer!
Does anyone have any information on the Cloverdale ice cream shop, it used to be there around the 1940s?
My fathers family owned Cloverdales. Message me with any questions you may have.
It was around in the 80's too. My parents took me there for ice cream. Lots of memories there.
Didn’t see anything about the Daisy BB factory…maybe I missed it 😢
