- This is part 2 of the trip out with my good friends Trent @RogueOutdoorsmen Mark @Socal_huntfish and Trevor @jt_hunting down in Arizona archery Coues and Mule Deer hunting! After our friend Jared had tagged out the day before, we were chomping at the bit to get back out there and find some more success for ourselves. We had a nasty storm roll through and it wasn't easy getting to certain places we wanted to hunt, so we opted to try a new spot. It wasn't long before my buddy Mark spotted a bedded Coues buck at the end of a rainbow! He was bedded in a perfect spot to make a stalk, so we made the game plan and executed it to perfection!
That's all the description I will give you for now. Go watch the video and see how it all goes down! I appreciate you guys watching and following along on this journey! Please subscribe if you haven't already!

That shot looked further then it was 57 yards is a chip shot for Trevor. I thought it was going down on that hillside. Heartbreaker for sure
So did I brotha! We need redemption!
Coues deer are very tuff...we've had deer bleed to the point he almost passed out from blood loss in our sight....but bedded and rolled in the dirt over the wound to seal the bleeding....blew our mind...he got up and walked off...we walked in after one hour and he bound off and ran....found him 3 weeks later pushing 5 doe
Heres a video recommendation... A trophy room tour, where you show us your trophy room like your sheds, mounts etc.
I will definitely make that video!
@@riseandshed Okay! I’m excited to watch it!
Man that’s tough. All depends on the scenario like you said.
I've had a coues survive a pass through ... I've also killed one when my arrow hit a branch deflecting the arrow, it made contact above the hoof about 5 inches... bled out so fast. I actually thought I missed because my arrow was clean but the ground showed different...
Really tuff little deer...
What?! The hoof shot is crazy! They are tough little critters for sure! Thank you for watching!
That’s a heartbreaker man the way that thing was bleeding you would’ve thought it was a done deal. With a rifle I would’ve taken that shot without a second thought but I probably wouldn’t have taken that shot with a bow I probably would’ve tried to get around him a little more but it is what it is things don’t always work out the way we want them to
Definitely a heartbreaker! We all thought it was a done deal! I appreciate your honest opinion of the shot. Thank you for watching!
Bummer. It happens. I don't archery hunt so can't say if I'd shoot a bedded buck with a bow. I would shoot one with a rifle if I had an elevated position and great rest.
Looked to me like he had a nice window into the vitals. If the arrow hits the dirt on the opposite side, well that's a pass through.................
That sucks man but bedded at that distance wouldn’t take the shot but hey that’s hunting
Does suck, but never know what would have happened? He felt confident and we all thought it was a great shot… live and learn! Thanks for watching!
@@riseandshed yea I feel yea and especially if he’s practiced that distance a lot it’s all good this season is here already redemption time 👌🏽🙌🏽💪🏽
He should have punched tag
He should have had a dead deer! But he did punch the tag actually
Rifle bedded down Coues no question. Bow bedded down Coues I’m prolly waiting for it to stand up. Most the time Coues bedded down are in taller grass and hard to get a shot.
Nice! Was this the late season ? It looks cold 🥶
Bummer on not recovering that buck
Yeah, it was a bummer! Would have been his first coues!
I should’ve waited longer so you didn’t jump him.
My second rifle couse ran another 800 yards on 2 front broken legs and a lung shot I couldn’t believe it 3 shots with a 243 first shot was the 2 broken legs second shot was a lunge shot can’t remember if it was a double lung or not and 3rd shot was the kill shot after he ran the 800 yards
I would definitely fling an arrow if I was in your shoes. Unfortunately it happens.
I would have to… but that is a part of hunting that sucks.
My coues buck last year jumped string and turned around at 67 yards and I hit him through both femoral arteries. Didn't go 80 , he scored 114" typical
I've shot deer in their beds. I find nothing wrong with it. Sure the target zone shrinks a bit, but there's no sudden jump of the string or shot
Shooting a bedded buck is one thing.
Shooting a buck facing away is another. Not ideal!
there's no way your gonna get 2 lungs maybe 1 at best.
Archery hunting is a tough especially Couse deer.
You hunt long enough your bound to loose an animal. live and learn!!!
I would most definitely take the shot
I wouldn’t have taken the shot. It’s not worth it in my opinion.
What a waste. All because of an extremely irresponsible shot.
Yeah seems he got hit hard lots blood though he was gonna be recovered 😮that sucks
He was definitely hit hard, just crazy their will to survive!
