and surprisingly changsub is a lead vocalist! eunkwang is their main, him and seungkwan were recently guest hosts in a talent show and and that man adored boo so much 😭
im still only a casual fan of btob, i listen to their music and dont skip their vids if it appears on my tiktok. but i religiously watch changsub's online variety show Jeongwaja where he checks out different majors in universities around the world. its super super fun and interesting if you want to watch on your own time ❤

A few things... Try to get me to shut up about Hyunsik's (middle white button down w/ tie) vocal range! The man takes you to the depths of the ocean, then as high as the stratosphere. His solo stuff is 100% worth a listen; my favorite is Deep Blue Sea! ALSO Changsub (Next to Hyunsik in the sweater vest), another very TALENTED man! Love love love his solo song Surrender and would also highly recommend watching his Lee Mujin Service episode! I think a few of the members act and have actually been in musicals. I also think like half of them graduated with music majors. They were signed with Cube originally, but I think they might have their own label now (I might be wrong). I don't even stan this group that hard but they always give me chills when they start singing! Even vocal coaches couldn't shut up about them!

A very underappreciated group and imo "the ballad kings of kpop". A very unserious set of people though their humor is on crackhead level lol. Fun fact mx kihyun, btob eunkwang and svt woozi have the same birthday.
Changsub is indeed an absolutely nut job. and we love him for it.
I really envy those who just found out about BTOB. It's been 4 years for me, if you want to dive into them you'll have an amazing time.
I saw them live in 2017 and damn what I wouldn't do to experience that for the first time again!
Blue Moon, your favorite, was written by Minhyuk! Changsub is a terror…who also has a killer voice which is why he is my fav. 😂 p.s. Eunkwang and Changsub are both musical actors.
Fun fact- Peniel and Shownu were both at JYP (Bangchan was there too) as trainees and they shared a living space.

If you want to know more about them, I would recommend checking out their guide, but these are some information that I would like to share with you.
The members from left to right are:
- Lee Minhyuk/Huta (2nd eldest, 1 of most athletic idol, composed a lot of songs for BTOB but mostly on the B-side, also known as HUTA when he releases solo songs)
- Yook Sungjae (youngest/maknae of the group, well-known as drama actor)
- Seo Eunkwang (leader and eldest of the group, musical actor)
- Im Hyunsik (4th eldest, known as father of BTOB's music because he composed a lot of title-songs for BTOB)
- Lee Changsub (3rd eldest, intro-fairy (because he usually sings the intro of their songs with his airy and emotional voice), musical actor)
- Peniel Shin Donggeun (5th eldest, born-raised in Chicago, had alopecia so he usually keeps his hair short, active in podcasts with other American-Korean artists)
- Ex-member: Jung Ilhoon (6th eldest, main rapper of the group, were also active as composer)
These boys were trained to be a band group, acapella group, and acrobatic group. They can dance and will always sing live. Their songs are also really hard to cover because their songs have multiple layers of harmonies and powerful adlibs. All the rappers write their own lyrics for their parts in their songs since the early days until now.

Some additional info on their vocal training:
- Eunkwang and Changsub trained at the same vocal training center since they were in their high school years.
- Changsub and Hyunsik are alumni of Practical Music Major in Howon University(one of the most prestigious university for the Practical Music major in Korea), and they were the only 2 male students accepted for early admission for their batch with the other 3 being girls (early admission have 5:3000 ratio of acceptance at that time)

This reaction was fun! You were so surprised, just as I was when I first saw them. Then I kept getting surprised over and over again when I saw how many different genres they could do so well. I became a Melody (fandom name because "every beat needs a melody") during the survival show Kingdom Legendary War because of their incredible talent and the way they brighten up every room. If you don't react to anything else of theirs, I think you'll love their Kingdom stages. The jazzy "Blue Moon (Cinema Version) is one of BTOB's songs rearranged into that version for a Kingdom stage in order to please Melodies. They are a group that loves it's fandom and we love them. It's just so genuine, like you were genuinely shocked by them 😂 Yes, not all of the members were in monsta xray, if I remember it correctly I think sungjae and changsub were not in the show but ilhoon was (they're originally 7, so I think that's why u thought theyre only 5 lmao)
It made me proud how u said that u think changsub is the main vocal, he's my ult but I genuinely think all of them are main vocals (even the 3 rappers). Eunkwang's their "designated" main vocal when they debuted but through the years, theyve said that theyre all main vocals.
When u said that It's Okay felt like a choir, Blue Moon jazz, Be Together musical, that's what I love about BTOB's discography, they just dont have a specific genre. Nonfans think of BTOB as "only ballad" (as they're the most well known for Missing You and It's Okay which are both ballads) but if u just listen to their songs more, all of it are just "BTOB genre" (coz they dont have a specific genre)
Lastly, we have the same thoughts when u said that u appreciate them singing their harmonies live regardless if theyll hit the notes or not... That's just what I love about them, in a kpop world where lipsyncing is a norm, BTOB ALWAYS sing live (theyve lipsynced ONCE in a music show coz the staffs made them, it was sooooooo obvious that they never did it again lmao for their 12th anniversary concert earlier this year, changsub HAD to lipsync a little bit coz he had polyps on his vocal chords, he even said sorry multiple times for lipsyncing)

Btob were formed by cube ent but left it last year as far as u remember 😅 . Two members joined two other companies and the other four formed their own called btob company which manages the four's activities and the whole group's activities

They got me first intrigued when I saw their cover of Backdoor by Straykids from Kingdom, which in my very humble opinion, is the best performance in that show.
I saw them live last Feb (minus Seungjae) and they were sooo good live! They give a different flavor from Monsta X as they have different feel. If monsta x gives a dangerous feeling, btob gives nice boy vibes. Haha.
This video made me a fan, though still not as intense as i am with Monsta X but good enough to convince me to watch them live.. Beautiful Pain lives in my mind rent free.

About changsub singing xmas song... there's a lot of compilation of them harmonizing on the changing room with xmas songs....
they have a gap of 4 years doing to military, so it goes from 2018 to 2022... they were 7, in heart they will always be 7... but irunie had a marijuana problem...
They trully can sing every gender, and they have, specially on b sides... cuz the concept that gave them the wins was ballad, most of the title are ballads, but not bsides...
The lyrics here also are very important since they are a self producing group.... mostly of those songs from killing voice were written for the fandom...
They still didn't got a comeback this year cuz changsub had a troat problem, but they are promissing it still for this year....

Just a little tip if you are considering watchinf a guide: I really recommend to react to 2024 Guide to Btob, it seems a bit long, but it doesn't reallly content any significant spoilers, but gives you a good chunk of understanding of where they came from and theirs personalities. There are a lot of other great guides too, but the group has been through some changes and 2024 guide is the only one with the most updated info

I feel like with regards to singing style, DK would be more similar to Eunkwang (dark blue sweater) as he is the belter of the group while Changsub (orange-y sweater) is more like Seungkwan with his emotional singing. Well, they're both loud singers anyway (all of them are actually 😭)
The original version of Blue Moon is good too. Another B-side which you should check out is When I Was Your Man - it has jazz undertones as well. There's a MV for that song.

They're a singing group, yes, but they also give 0 fucks about "idol image." They're psychotic, and I love every second of it.
Technically they are Gen 2.5 and not considered Gen 3 by most. Kpop gens are a bit hazy in the sense that there is no clear "end" or "start" for them, but BTOB debuted at the early days of what is considered Gen 3, but have a distinct flavor that is still Gen 2. I've been into kpop since 2008, so it makes sense to me what that "flavor" is but idk if it'll make much sense. Mostly in terms of their group style, music, and behavior, I think. The early groups of a new gen are considered in that weird area of .5 since they usually still hold the sound of the previous Gen, so BTOB are 2.5. That's why they aren't like other Gen 3 groups who come to mind - BTS, EXO, Red Velvet, Twice, etc. They are most like their seniors when it comes to music color - SHINee, Infinite, Brown Eyed Girls, etc.

It's not wrong to say BTOB is the MOST vocally talented boy group currently active today. Minhyuk is famously known for saying "I'm not a rapper because I can't sing, I rap because I like to rap." in regards to the stereotype that not all idols can sing, and some are chosen purely for looks, or only to rap.
