- #ilovervlife #oceanlakes #southcarolinabeaches One of the things that Joan and I appreciate about the RV lifestyle is the wide variety of places to camp and sites to see. From small to large, we’ve have yet to stay in two places that were alike. On this stop, we wanted to experience one of the larger “family style” campgrounds and choose Ocean Lakes Family Campground in Myrtle Beach, SC. This is by far, the largest campground that we’ve stayed in with 895 camping spots, amenities galore and a destination that you and the family could stay for a long period of time and never leave. We had a great stay and look forward to returning with the rest of our camping family for the complete Ocean Lakes Family Campground experience.

Just got back today. And ocean lakes is our favorite place !! Yes its crowded, but its all part of the fun!
nice camp ground they bring in 50 million a year in funds like to own that place.
Wow. They certainly work hard to make it a great destination.
I would think the owners/managers wouldn't allow young campers to operate the golf carts. The parents should be in control of their children, if not for the kids safety, then certainly for the other guests. Has no one heard of liability? There are billboards everywhere at Myrtle Beach advertising liability attorneys.
Best time to go to ocean lakes... Sept. All the teens are back at school, beach isn't crowded, weather is still hot though.
This Campground was out of control last year during Easter week. The amount of teenagers driving around in golf carts blasting music on amplified speaker well beyond curfew hours was an every night occurrence. They have tons of security during the day , when it really is not needed and no security at night when it is needed the most. To may people riding around in golf carts and enough people walking to and from the beach.
I was just there last week with my partner and our son. There was security out every night pulling people over. Myself included. We were going from our rental to the beach. Point a to point b. We do not look like cruising teenagers. I thank them for working that hard.
part the whole fun of vacations for a kids is to let go, sorry it bothers you but it is a vacation spot and people let loose
Jerry I always enjoy your videos, but this place is not for us. Too crowded and all the things they market to be attractive we are not interested in. Give me a tree covered spot with a table and fire ring and I am happy.
Thanks David. That’s the great thing about the RV lifestyle. Want the quite corner by the lake with trees? No problem. Want a vacation spot to keep the kids entertained? There it is. Safe travels.
Do not ever go here during the summer. We went last year rented a golf cart and we never could go to the pool cause we couldnt find a spot to park. Carts were double parked everywhere cops everywhere we couldnt get even to the beach unless we went at 6am. Too crowded. We left after 4 days.
Go to Lakewood next door. Ive been going there all my life and love it
Thanks for the tour. Off season for me, summer is way to crowded for my camping style.
Glad to share. The shoulder seasons are great for these larger campgrounds.
True! We go in early May or mid-September.
Stayed there for years. In Oct we took the horses down and stayed for most of a week. The only time of the year they allow it but it is a benefit ride to raise money for the American Heart Assoc.. That week in Oct. there are hundreds of horses there camping and riding on the beach every day. They also have small places to rent for people that want to visit but don't have a RV. It is a very nice campground.
Chris, that sounds like a great weekend.
He doesn't give it total justice...it also has as many individual Houses also...some privately owned...many they rent out multiple bedrooms completely furnished...
Going on our 6th year in a row. October Halloween is the best! Every weekend, something to do. And it's a plus that Halloween usually fall into the myrtle beach jeep jam...lol
Yeah we are at lakewood camping resort next to ocean lakes Which I personally think lakewood is better but that is just my opinion
I grew up in Myrtle Beach... miss it a lot, but summer is the absolutely worst... horrible, horrible traffic!
Maybe why some we talked to said they bring the family and stay on site for the week. Just chill by the beach.
Too busy for me Jerry. I like the woodsy type campgrounds. Glad you're out and about camping again. We've been out every weekend for the past three weeks at private property camping so no covid issues.
We often travel to the larger campgrounds off season. We too like the rural spots.
Is the water park and pools included in the camp fee or is there an additional charge for using those?
All of the pool area amenities are included in the price of your site.

Thanks for the tour. My wife and I are going in about 3 weeks for our anniversary. We are so excited. This is one of the better tours I’ve seen. Thank you so much!
Thanks a bunch Phillip. Glad to hear you found the video helpful.
I am a local and this is a fabulous campground I really love to stay here and watch all the golf carts......so much to do and never a dull moment!!! Great video!!
Thanks Bella. This is a nice place to go.
I stay at Lakewood (right next door) every year and love it ! There are a ton of teenagers in the campground over the summer and they can be noisy however there is a lot of fun in that still because there is never a dull day. Tons of fun things to do there and couldn’t imagine any better campground in such a great location !
Our favorite! There just last wee and missing it like crazy!
Us too.
Cant stand place is WAY 2 crowded
Aloha Ray, my husband and I have appreciated all of your tips. We recently bought our first motorhome. We were watching your RV surge protector video ,but it was made 2 years ago. Is there any updated info that would be helpful?
The surge protectors are still available and work great. I keep the links in the video and blog up to date with the latest models.
There are parties like every night on the beach
Are there other accomodations at this facility if other non camper family members want to meet up and stay there too?
They have a number of beach rentals. Their website has details and prices.
i LOVE this place
stayed there for 3 weeks, we liked it and would go back again
Our first campground 30 years ago, in a tent. Great place! Thank you for sharing!
You bet. Fun place.
@@iLoveRVlife The campground has changed a lot in 30 years. I am glad to see the sand dunes now. Before the dunes, we camped so close to the water in our tent that our hamburgers on the grill blew away from the wind....lol. Ocean Lakes was gracious and allowed us to move closer to an area with trees (more trees used to be present). We need to return back to Ocean Lakes since we have a travel trailer now. Glad that you had fun!!!
👎 We stayed there last fall. Very crowded and could only stay for a couple of days because we reserved a spot a only a week ahead of time. It was off season and the water-park was closed. We paid for a ocean view. It was the first spot closest to the water. The "water view" was actually a berm view. We could not see the ocean. There is a large protective berm all along the beach side. If I could get on top of my camper I could see the water. Bath houses were nice and the people were nice. The location is great. Prices are way too high. A lot of the 895 spots are actually permanent "houses". Too many kids riding around on golf carts. Will not stay again at those prices.
Thank you Jerry for the in depth view of this campground. My wife and I have been thinking about staying there sometime late this year or early next. It's nice to see it up close. Great Job!
Thanks a bunch Carol.
I'm sad to see the negative reviews! My family just got back home on Sunday from Ocean Lakes. We rent a home there for about a week at a time. Our son is special needs and loves the Waterpark. The amenities are hard to beat. I don't have an issue with the teenagers because I remember what it was like to be that age.
We really enjoyed our stay too Jen.
Love ocean lakes coming back for our 2nd time in two yrs. wonderful safe little village of vacationers. Love it! We don’t camp, we rent one of the many cottages there. The water park is amazing, love the lazy river. Beach access is awesome.
Agree Sandy. A very unique place.
My wife, kids and myself live in S. Carolina and Ocean Lakes is our go to for Summer vacation. We'll be there July 2nd this year
Spent a week there a few years ago! Way too crowded. Was told there are 30,000 people in the complex during peak season! Thefts are frequent so you need to lock it down! Golf carts drove me crazy! Way too many! Nearly get run over anytime you walk. Myrtle Beach State Park down the street is much better at half the cost!
i went there and i live in SC
I agree with most of the comments here. We stopped going to Ocean Lakes several years ago as the golf carts were out of hand, the teenagers were out of hand and the campground security didn't really care. There are so many beautiful campgrounds in Myrtle, like LakeWood, and the MB Park that are so much more under control and better managed. btw, the sight you have in the trees is unusual and usually during the summer, you have to book it a year ahead of time. Because there isn't enough parking at the pool, people with golf carts will park on your spot when you are that close to the pool, and security won't do anything about it.
We go to Lakewood
A huge RV parking lot. When I went, there were kids on golf carts everywhere, people firing off fireworks, noisy at night, no privacy at all between the sites, they're all on top of each other. And expensive! I was not impressed.
No motorcycles, does the parking area provided for motorcycles have security?
I don’t know, but thought that was an interesting rule.
@@iLoveRVlife that’s a rule that will probably keep me out. I understand it, but it seems personal responsibility should be the rule. You cause a disturbance then they should tell you to leave. Motorcycles idling through a campground is no louder than a Diesel engine running back and forth all day. Then again they probably wouldn’t have the rule if not for Karens and idiots rev up engines as they traveled through.
We enjoyed our time here a couple of years ago at labour day weekend. Super busy! Lol. I’ve never seen so many golf carts in all my life! We stayed at the first site across from the beach access. It was great. But it was expensive. Over 100/night. We left fort wilderness to stay here and paid more! 😂
how much for the week probably cheaper in a condo
Not sure. Check the web site. They have a price list.
Looks nice we will be that way in Aug. If you ever go to Gatlinburg Tenn. check out Greenbrier campground it is a super nice place. We stayed there for a week last year Great vids stay safe buddy
Thank and appreciate the Gatlinburg tip.
I just want to add , if you go to Greenbrier stay at site 31. It’s literally on the rapids. We just got back from there and I think it’s my favorite camping site of all time!
Thanks
I’m here rn
Oh my Lord, that place is gorgeous!
Too crowded for us
Can you drive your golf cart on the beach
Sorry, not here.
go in june or july if u wanna see packed
Wouldn’t surprise me. That why we usually go to these popular campground during the spring and fall shoulder seasons.
Great video Jerry as usual that place looks awesome?
Thanks Michael.
we go to lakewood, right next to it haha
Really nice campgrounds.
Very nice but too much $$$ for me and I dont need all that stuff it sure is nice
So nice ! Unfortunately it is not common in Indonesia with this RV lifestyle, so whenever we try to camp with a van, everyone will stare at us and wondering what are we doing, haha. I am your new supporter from Bali ! Lets stay connected !
Thanks and welcome to the channel.
We absolutely LOVE OceanLakes! We live in GAbut keep our camper there in their storage facility because we camp there so often. We do have teens so all the fellow teens don’t bother us a bit!
We go to Pirateland just down the road. A more relaxed atmosphere, but glad you had a good time.
Thanks for the great tour. Looks like a great place for folks without kids during the off season. We should all know that places like that are not a place to go in the summer if you want peace and quiet. But if I had the Grandkids with us we might. I took them to a park with waterslides etc last summer but would not go if it was just us, Thinking this would be a place for us to go this October since this year we have still not been on the road. That will hopefully change in July, even if it is only an hour for home.
Add March before spring break to the list too. Great time to get that winter break and enjoy the beach.
GREAT job Jerry 👍!! You should do a special on the Apache campground and pier up off of Lake Arrowhead road!!! Not quite as big as this place but still a beautiful location!!!!
Thanks. Appreciate the tip. When we have plans to return, we’ll check them out.
We stay here all the time. We have three trips lined up for this year so far. The staff and everything else there is outstanding. If you go to the nature building it will tell you the history of the campground and the founders.
You should do one for Carolina Pines RV resort in Conway SC. About 15 mins from where you are. They have cabins if you don't have a camper. There are 3 different pools with a water park, mini golf, mini bowling, dog parks arcade, pool hall, exercise room, bar and restaurant with golf cart rentals. They have been open for a year and love Carolina Pines 💖
Thanks Angela. It’s on the list.
Our 2nd Home
Fun place.
Thanks for the Tour Jerry from Columbus Ohio.
This was one of the best my wife and I have seen🏆
We just purchased our 1st class A and are ready to ROLL😎
Thanks. Have fun with the new RV.
I like Ocean Lakes, Lakewood and Pirateland. Ocean Lakes has the best amenities but I prefer Pirateland. It is quieter and is more laid back. Helps too because Hog Heaven sets up there a couple of times a week.
Sounds fun. Thanks.
Great tour and nice looking campground. We were in myrtle beach in February and we stayed at the KOA campground. I am trying to figure where this one is in comparison with KOA. They also rented golf carts which we took full advantage. Was a nice way to get around the town.
It’s in downtown Surfside Beach, right at the huge intersection. Can’t miss it .
Our family (and my parents) spend 5 days or so every Thanksgiving. So much to do. Yes, summer time is crazy. Golf cart rental during Thanksgiving is like $20/day. Some folks put out some Christmas lights and at night I like riding my mom around. She loves Christmas and all the lights.
How fun.
We are FINALLY coming to Myrtle Beach RV One to pick up our Jayco Jayfeather travel trailer this coming weekend!! Love your RV park reviews!
Thanks a bunch.
Reading all of these comments, it appears that the facility focuses on producing income and volume and not much focus on comfort and quiet. This is probably fine if you have kids but Im not sure I would stay there just two adults wanting a peaceful vacation unless it was WAY off season
Maybe something for everyone. We were the off season. Not crowded. Still warm. Enjoyed the beach and the area. Summer trip with the grandkids would be fun. Self contained and so many offerings to keep them entertained.
Is this the campground that had a Farm in it a while back?
The farm is in middle Georgia. This campground is a short drive away. ua-cam.com/video/90FO9OQ9sfc/v-deo.html
@@iLoveRVlife oh know, I meant FIRE, lol.
Oops. Note sure.
I just saw this pop up on my list! I freaked out because I was just talking to my wife about this place! My family and I used to stay there over 20 years ago! Do they still do the “golf cart cruise” at night on that back road?
We were there early March. Snow birds we heading home. Wasn’t very full. A few golf carts here and there. Fun place. Image there’s a ton of stuff going on in the summer.
Wow! What a great tour of this beautiful and certainly well kept campground. I stayed recently at the Myrtle Beach Travel Park. It’s very nice and large and well kept as well. But this campground is even larger I’m pretty sure. My pharmacist keeps his Park model there year around. He just calls ahead when coming down and they will bring it out of storage which is also there on the property and set it up for him and he absolutely loves it there. It’s so good to see you again, I always enjoy your videos. I would just love to meet up with you and Joan out on the road . Stay safe and well, and always video your wonderful adventures!
Thanks a bunch. We saw many who store and camp there. RV life make this a small world. Joan and I so enjoy meeting folks along the way.
The observation deck is called the observation deck Sandy’s Down under is the skateboard area underneath the deck. We love Ocean Lakes and go there every year. Thanks for the great review!
Thanks. Fun place so much to do there we didn’t have to leave.
Just got back. One day of Bertha but wonderful the rest of the time. Restrictions had just been lifted too! This is the best place ever for KIDS! Yes it’s crowded but that’s because it’s so loved!! I feel they do an excellent job on noise control after 10:00. Camping spots are big but let’s face it, so are the campers so sometimes it’s a challenge to set up!
Glad to hear you all had a great time.
Going to be there in a week and a half. Can't wait.
Pet friendly?
It is.
Hello from Murrells
Hi. A great place!
This was the first place I ever seen the ocean, my mom and her husband took me camping here for my birthday. I so miss it. I smoked a left handed cigarette on that stage, while I was waiting on my laundry to be done.
Fun place. Looking forward to going back.
This looks great! Hoping one day you will go to tall pines harbor campground in Virginia. It is the best campground hands down! If you go I hope to see you there to meet you! Love your videos!
Thanks Abby. It’s on the list.
We been camping at Oceanlakes for more than 20 years. Us and more than 30 friends camp there in August each year. We love it
It is a fun place.
You guys should come in to Fat Jack's wings and things next time you're down.
We certainly will.
Hi Jerry, thanks for the video. We were there in 2017 and stayed in site 2029 in the same area as you. How amazing is this place. We were new to RVing and this was our second big trip with our 38’ Keystone Montana that we bought in 2016 as our first camper. We absolutely loved it here and will be returning to spend more time around the Charleston area.
Great place. If you’re going to Charleston, look at James Island for a campground. Here’s a video ua-cam.com/video/ZXaEGrS6b4U/v-deo.html
Thank you for the tour. My Wife and I will book a week or 2. Thanks, Jerry..
Glad,we,could share. Have fun.
You only showed a small portion of what's at Ocean Lakes and it's not just for campers. There are plenty of homes there for rent.
True. We’re primarily focus our travel focus on campgrounds and RVs.
What a fabulous video Jerry and very professionally done. looks like a place to bring the whole family
Thanks so much. Fun place. Super kid friendly.
I have my 30 ft Puma at Pirateland Campground .
I like it there I may move mine as nice as the Campground .
This is a unique area and interesting to see how the campgrounds cater to everyone.
Nice place. More of a mountain person myself, but if our kids were little, we would have headed there.
It is Liz. We run in cycles. Mountains a while, then beach.....repeat often 😏
Ocean Lakes is our favorite! We are headed down to Lakewood (almost next door) Wednesday! You'll have a blast!
We went Wednesday and got back yesterday
Our first visit to myrtle beach in a few days & it will be a couple of parks down from here at the state park. Thanks for the tour
Huntington Beach State Park is great. Stayed there last year ua-cam.com/video/ShnM-bL5xQM/v-deo.html
Nice and expensive I'll bet. What do they want for a week of camping?
We found costs reasonable for services offered. Here’s their rate sheet. www.oceanlakes.com/rates/campsite/
Looking at the sites I assume there is a length restriction.
Our fth wheel is 52 feet when fully extended.
That’s a bruiser. Largest I saw were 45’ toy haulers.
My mom has been going when she was 1 Moth an we have been going since
Hi, Jerry. I don't know how you do it but you and Joan always find the coolest campgrounds/resorts I've ever seen. That is awesome. Thanks for sharing I saved this video.
Thanks a bunch Ty. Just good luck!
Awesome video, cannot seem to find the nightly rate? Or weekly rate?
Thanks Scott. Here's a link to their rate sheet www.oceanlakes.com/rates/campsite/
Do you got to have an RV in order to be able to stay at this campground or do have a resort rentals in the campground too
They have a large number of rentals. Check out the web site for rates.
We go there every year and let me tell you that this place is FANTASTIC!
It is a fun place
Keep the great videos coming Jerry.
Thank you
Will do. Thanks Don.
Stayed there a week during the 4th last summer. Wasnt impressed.
Fourth of July! No wonder. I live about 7 miles above the NC line and I try to avoid MB that whole week. Terrible traffic, long lines at restaurants, congested shopping centers, etc.
Ocean lakes it’s the best place I go twice every year I love it
Like a theme park in a campground. Fun place.
That was a great tour and review Jerry thanks so much. I have wondered what this place looks like it really is nice!
Fun place. We want to go back with the kids next time.
Hi Jerry and Joanne: you have stumbled across one of Kathy‘s and mine favorite places to go camping we have a fifth wheel sandpaper that we store right there on the premises it works great for us I don’t have to have a big truck to move it any place we say that this is our beach home the cost of storing it is what it would cost me to run it back-and-forth from Kannapolis one time and unfortunately this year we aren’t going to be able to get there for a while we were getting ready to leave on May 2 and I took a tumble off the golf cart ramp at home I wound up tearing my hamstring muscle in my right leg so needless to say it’s gonna be a while before we get to come down we know people that we all meet up every year and it continues to be a favorite Destination for A lot of families we will get down there and the weather cools off a little bit and just enjoy it
Hi Dave. Sorry to hear about the tumble. Get well soon. We were there over 2 weekends and saw quite a few campers moving back and forth from storage. Great concept.
Sandpaper lol
We love this place. Be there for the 4th of July . We were there the first week of March 2020
Use too. Sorry we missed you.
Are all the sites pull through? Thanks for the video
Most are.
Nice review, we were there New Years Week.
Thanks. It is quite a place.
i think they also have 2200 homes in there as well
It think so.
How much I couldn’t find the price
Here’s a copy of their website rates www.oceanlakes.com/rates/campsite/
What happens during a hurricane? Those RVs must get tossed like match sticks.
We were at the beach last year when Dorian threatened. Hook up and headed west.
Fred Flintstone : Pack up and leave.
Hope we get to stay in ocean lakes it looks awesome we enjoy Myrtle beach so much
Fun place Joseph.
