I watched the regional Crown III that happened this past weekend in Utah, featuring big names like Zomba, Sparg0, and of course, MkLeo! I like how half the matches werent even top 8, that's how stacked this event was.
Smash Ult is becoming more stacked in general I think. Like, the skill gap between the top 20(ish) players and top 50/100 players used to be huge. Like, win 9/10 matches almost every time huge, but now there's like 300 players in the top 100 lol.
So every major/supermajor is getting more and more stacked with every month, and I'm here for it honestly. I wasn't aware of the scene back then, but from descriptions, this is probably similar to the scene at the end of Sm4sh with Bayo and Cloud.

@@lyrics2challenged yeah, its so cool cuz you have no idea whats gonna happen next. Like, because everyone is approaching their individual characters' relative skill ceiling, its all coming down more and more to whos the better player.
Like, its not that all of these players were bad then got good, they always had the potential to beat people like Mkleo and Marss and Light, they just needed more time to hit their peaks.

MKLeo did a first-to-ten against Zomba starting out Aegis and was down 2-4 at the start, so it would be weird to see him switch to Aegis to deal with Zomba.
That was wifi though. Aegis is better and ROB is worse offline. Also Marss thinks Aegis is busted

Leo's Aegis is not that good. He should just trust his good characters and stay Byleth/Joker. And he honestly probably wouldve beaten Zomba with the byleth but he got kinda cheesed game 4.
@Eragon7 if Leo only played Aegis and no other character he would still be a top 10, probably top 5 player. His Aegis is amazing, it's just not as good as his other characters. It's close though, could be the answer. Only Leo can figure that out though, not some random on the internet who's never top 64d a tournament
@@trombonegamer14 Not really. Even Cosmos's Aegis is better imo, and Sparg0's and Shuton's aegis are much better too. Maybe leo is better than cosmos with aegis but the fact it isnt clear cut kinda says a lot.
I dont think Leo would be top 10 with solo Aegis. easily top 20 still, mayyyyyybe he could pull off top 10.
But either way, thats still a pretty significant downgrade from his current position of top 5 and potentially top 3 with mainly byleth, a FAR worse character.
The fact his Aegis literally performs worse than his Byleth despite being like 2-3 tiers better kinda just shows how lackluster his aegis really is.
Now dont get me wrong, "objectively" his aegis isnt bad, he's still Leo afterall. He could be top 20 with like half the characters in the game. The issue is that his Aegis is bad for his actual skill level. Leo isnt just some random top 10-20 player. Him barely being top 10 is a pretty major downgrade from his actual ability. Esp with a top 3 char.
So his Aegis is bad (for his level). The character clearly doesnt click well with him, and its no longer a matter of "just give it enough time" given its already been like 2 years now. Him potentially not even being a top 3 Aegis kinda seals the deal, when he's very easily the best joker and byleth in comparison.

Acola has some iron consistency over spargo, but their head to head is so intensely one sided for spargo. It’s hard to say which of them is really the best

Acola’s worst performance this year was 7th at genesis. other than that, he hasn’t placed below 3rd at any ranked events. Spargo placed 9th at crown and 13th at summit. statistically, Acola is better than Spargo. It all depends on how much you value head-to-heads. Source: ssbwiki

does anyone know why MkLeo doesn't play Joker as much anymore?
A few reasons.
- Joker isn't nearly as strong now as he was a while ago (he's still top tier, just not as insane as he was)
- Joker takes a lot of energy in bracket, making him somewhat inconsistent
- Byleth has done really well for Leo, and he loves the character. Which gives Joker some competition for who Leo ends up playing more.
- Leo REALLY wants to make Aegis work.
joker doesn't do as well online as he does offline since he's got a lot of technical inputs so he picked up byleth/aegis during quarantine for online tournaments, once quarantine ended he kind of just stuck with them, he also said he doesn't find him as fun to play as much but he still uses him from time to time
