Wiener Prater Review | Vienna, Austria Amusement Park - 2nd Oldest in the World!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 гру 2024
- This classic fair style amusement park is one of the most unique in the world! Located in the heart of Vienna, Prater opened in 1766 as the second oldest amusement park in the world! The park is free to enter and pay per ride, where each attraction is independently operated. Because of this, many rides are constantly rotated in and out, with something new always on the way. As of now, they feature over a dozen roller coasters, and countless flat rides.

The star of this park is the atmosphere. And the apple strudel!
Pretty wild to think that Weiner Prater will be tied for #5 globally for total coasters at the park when their Mack Big Dipper opens next year
very true!!
A construction stop has been imposed on the roller coaster, but it is unclear what will happen next. Local media report that a building was demolished without permission, and that a lawsuit against the former president of the Wiener Prater was confirmed by the court. 🤔
Well yeah, but these coasters are something like Energylandia without the big 3
ikr
Keep in Mind, that the Super 8-Bahn got removed. This coaster got sold to India.
It took me a long time to find all the coasters here. I was actually pleasantly surprised by that indoor rollercoaster; the effects were mesmerizing.
I spent my childhood in europe and I really miss it, you get to experience rides that didnt exist whe I lived there.
Back in the 90s Six Flags parks opened at 8:00 or 9:00 In the morning, and closed at 10:00 pm on week nights and midnight or 1:00 am in weekends.
How times have changed.
Shoutout to the top notch editing on this one!! 😊🤍
I visited Prater when I was a teenager in the 80s. There's so much history, art, and impressive architecture in Vienna it's easy to overlook it, but like you said it's a unique experience that doesn't really exist anywhere else. I think you went to a fest (fair) in Germany and it does have a very similar to German/Austrian fests with carnivals. I miss them so much living in America. The food and beer alone is to die for!
We need a Coaster Studios does Tagada video 🤣
6:04 It's called 'Insider'
That gnome at 6:26 looking like he's taking a wee made me duck. My hat hit the side of the train and it fell off onto the track lol. The lady retrieved it for me when the ride was over. The irony that I dropped something on the tamest ride ever. I think Megablitz was my favourite ride there. That train station was super handy, straight from the airport and back on an 8 hour layover. Worked out perfectly. I saved my money and didn't even attempt the Volare.
Damn, Megablitz is so old. :D I'm so old. It was the only thrill ride I could ride as a 7 year old. Mom would have me in front of her in the same seat and we would stay on it for like half an hour or so in 1990. Such a great coaster, never got old. Still love it but probably because of nostalgia.
I am from Austria and I really appreciate that you can appreciate prater for what it is. But even if I and many fellow Austrians I know also like it Austria really would need a real full fledged theme park. There is just nothing here besides prater and like you said it’s more like a permanent fair. I just don’t understand why nobody tries to build a real themepark here.
Phantasiana is making a good impression. From the airtime filled pax to the new areas for a light theming.
Isnt there also Familiepark somewhere else in Austria? It looks neat, but quite small for now. But hopefully that can develop into a larger theme park
@@drdewott9154 yes but I don't really think that Familiypark will evolve into something bigger. It's cool for small kinds but nothing more. that's pretty much the biggest problem here I think. there is stuff for small children but nothing that also appeals to teens and adults.
Would like to go here one day
I went there IT WAS AMAZING AHHH
Yet an other park I'm putting on my bucket list
This is essentially the world's biggest funfair
To me, the rides that blew me away (or somewhat blew me away) were the massive drop tower, the massive star flyer, Megablitz was pretty solid, hotel psycho was a fantastic dark ride, and the pirate dark ride was one of the best I’ve ever done - easily the best ride in the park! Legit like it more than pirates of the Caribbean
Great video about a great amusement park! Even though I am from Austria, I don't get to Vienna that often. But whenever I do, I visit Prater because it is just awesome. There is something I thought of:
The competition between the rides also means less downtime. Why? In a theme park with day tickets, the park already has your money at the point you enter the park and temporary downtime of individual attractions doesn't cost them much in the way of ticket sales. But when attractions are individually operated, every time an attraction is down, they loose ticket sails.
Edit: I have only done a few of the attractions there, but one that I thought was really special was Extasy. It's a flat ride that spins you around in all directions at high speeds. That was an extremely simplified explanation because I think you really have to expeience this ride to know what it is.
My home park! Yeah, prater is very weird. It has amazing flat rides but it's expensive as hell. Sadly the Mack Big Dipper got delayed, but it's set to open in 2024. My favourite coaster there ( besides olympia looping ) is boomerang. It's very smooth because of the only lap bar trains and it feels very out of control. Best ride there is black mamba, that thing is crazy. Glad you visited my home park😊
In Vienna right now, thanks for the review!
Ah, Wiener Prater, James Bond's favorite amusement park!
I’ve been to Wiener Prater twice and have been lucky enough to ride Olympia Looping twice! The first I went was in the off season and the vibe is so weird. There no there except for the locals who walk through the park, all the while EDM is blasted from the handful of rides that remain open throughout the winter. I recently went back in May and it was awesome! I easily spent over 100€ to get the coaster credits. Unfortunately, both time I went Roller Ball and Megablitz weren’t operating much to my annoyance. But no buggy because I got to ride Olympia Looping. In general I love the vibe of the park. It really is just one big permanent carnival, and when the park is open with a lot of guess it can be a cool “Oktoberfest-esque” experience. Lots of fast food, beer, EDM and rides! Definitely worth spending the cash and experiencing it at least once!
I have been to Wiener Prater and I loved the park did all of the coasters and whilst they aren't the best they are good Olympia Looping operates significantly faster here than at Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, Boomerang is the best Vekoma Boomerang out their. And they have some of the best Flat rides out their with Black Mamba as standout but King Booster is also great, as well as that the atmosphere is electric kinda like Blackpool Pleasure Beach in a way where it has a lot of charm.
this place is interesting cuz i went when i was a kid and basically none of the rides were the same. you never know what you’re gonna get!
The variety of dark rides at this park are insane.
I went to Weiner Prater last month while I was on a river cruise, only had a couple hours and I couldn't find the wooden coaster 😭 also a lot of the coaster were closed but when I asked around I figured out it was because it was in the early afternoon on a weekday.. sounded like most attractions are open in the evenings! overall it was neat and it my first international park/ coaster credits!
I love the Boomerang in the Prater. I mean, I know it is not that different from all the other Boomerangs, but for some reason this one I totally enjoy! It is awesome!
Loved the Parter. We spent a week in Vienna last summer and ended up going back to the Prater again and again just for the affordable food options. I rode all the coasters and a handful of dark rides so I spent a fortune anyway. None of the coasters are truly great, though the Megablitz, the Super 8-er Bahn and the Gesengte Sau were good fun (and the Volare was bloody awful!). Olympia Looping disagreed with me that time. My favourite ride ended up the Grottenbahn dark ride, that was a nice surprise.
This park has the smoothest volare. My headbanging came from the many laterals. Oh and that hangtime on the corkscrews i somehow someway felt.
Wilde maus is crazy and has a looot of laterals and airtime. Underrated, i love this more than boomerangs.
Insider is underrated, got a good spin, and pretty fun laterals. And fun queues.
Mega blitz is so fast but that’s it.
Maskerade is mid.
Boomerang is boomerang.
Amazing park 10/10
I live in vienna and for a long time i thought this "amusement park fair style" is how ALL theme parks are. And honestly i don't care TOO much for the parter myself, but i'm happy it exists. It's fun to just go to the actual park, chill in the gras, enjoy in the sun and then go over into the prater for one or two rides and some snacks and leave whenever, because you didn't pay entry so there is no stress to it. Just very chill.
But it's not a theme park at all :P now i know.
Man this park really is quite something. And honestly, I do think the closest comparsion you'd ever find to Prater is probably Bakken up in Denmark. And to a lesser extent Coney Island in New York, since that, and many other boardwalk style places across America operated in the same fashion as this with showman against showman, entrepeneur agaisnt entrepeneur.
I will say one thing Bakken definitely has over Prater is integration. Bakken is obviously much smaller, only around 1/3rd the size and number of facilties that Prater has, but that allowed them all to much more easily agree on a shared system for wristbands and ride tokens. Something which Praters showmen have never been able to agree upon despite several past attempts.
But these 2 parks really are like a look into amusement parks from a different era. From before the big theme parks built in the 50's onwards after Disneyland changed the whole industry across the world. I can only hope the Prater showmen manage to agree on some kind of wristband or even just universal token system so that big visits can be afforded more affordably.
The beauty of this part is that it is just a part of the city, no gate, you are not forced to pay entry.
you want a full pass? you got it.
you want one ride and go on your way? you can do that, you can literally do this on your way to work or home.
I will have to go back at some point for WIener Looping, Super 8 Bahn. the one coaster I could not ride was Autoberg bahn.
Its crazy how you mention flat rides, I have been a fan of the European flat rides than i am the american rides we have here. Some of them are clean, club life like and nice light packages with fog and music. And its longer operation. That is what I like about those flat rides over there.
@3:39, I thought this channel was family-friendly, Taylor.
I think the more drunk you get the more fun this place is. Also it is a night time park their Halloween is awesome
It definitely feels like the perfect place after a few beers
Please do a review on Wilde Maus XXL.
Heh, Wiener...
00:59 What is that marble run looking thing in the background?
Coney Island used to be like this years ago
2:26 I WENT THAT GAME IT WAS SO SCARY AT FIRST BUT NOW I WANNA RIDE IT but I CANT cus I’m at country now
My family enjoyed to ferris wheel when we visited the park on 1997.
As an austrian i didnt know that the ferris wheel in prater is the oldest :O
6:03 the indoor coaster is actually called Insider
What an interesting name
Hotel Psycho is as standout as a ghost train could possibly be ;-)
It's like they are all almost transport rides but in a permanent park, I'd be interested to see what this park feels like.
My fav is that Water slide
Qual valor do ingresso?
00:17 Is that a giant marble run in the background?
Oh. Funtime is an Austrian ride manufacturer. I must've read it wrong because I thought they were Australian.
I like how you say hotel psycho is pretty fun, not realising it's known as one of the scariest ghost trains. 😂
Love the reviews, but I can't help but wonder why it's only Taylor talking and no Sarah. I'd say she's such a great part of CS these days she'd be talking about her experiences too :)
Taylor started the channel back in 2013 doing narration based videos such as reviews, which is why it continues to be just him. It can be difficult to balance two different perspectives in a narration based setting Videos such as vlogs are great because they give the opportunity for more than one person to share their opinion on the parks and attractions. Coaster Studios at its core is a variety channel, thus why there's multiple styles of videos offered to present various views on things! :)
Prices of the rides!!!!????
Didn’t you say one time that the Tigata was your favourite ride of the trip.
Prater is nice and so is Vienna but there is one Problem.
The closest thing to a real Theme Park is Energylandia, a 5 hour drive.
It really shows that Vienna is right on the border to eastern europe where people don't get to have fun
Everyoen is like "im gonna put this on my bucket list" but i live in vienna 😂
The moyt expensive is the ejection seat (sling shot) it costs 15€
So why i hate a fair in Prague? No coasters, only things that are making you want to throw up ( except the best xxl) , most of it are kids rides and it's extremely expensive, 180 czk or 8,5 $ per ride + 2$ entrance to the fair. Prater is better because of some coasters, but it's almost the same. The sad thing is that we have a one park with a roller coaster, it's like 5 mins with car from me and it's a majaland operated by plopsa, so yeah that coaster it's smaller than my house, well on the other hand we have one of the largest alpine coasters / slides collection in the world, they are almost everywhere there and some of them are the largest of it's kind
I just want to know is it fun and worh it? anyways you have a new subber
you missed Black Mamba it´s the best ride there 😌
Were you pleased with the Boomerang
It was cool riding one with lapbars only!
From my experience: It made me feel sick for like 2 hours. Don't recommend if you don't want the credit at all costs.
My local Incredible Pizza has a tagada ride and everyone is required to wear a seatbelt while riding it.
Where do you live
Michael Jackson’s eyes at 4:30?
Even fairs would have a wrist band if it's not lay per attraction, maybe the park wouldn't make as much of a profit with that? It's quite unfortunate it's pay per attraction like this. I would spend $80 on a 1 day ticket here to ride everything but that's not how it works.
Fairs in Germany and Austria are always pay per ride unfortunately.
I kinda like volare tho
This looks like an awesome permanent fair that was misunderstood by yet another American who is unable to appreciate things outside of what they're used to smh
How is it not appreciated by me when I literally stayed in the review that I appreciate things like this? Just because it isn’t my favorite doesn’t mean I can’t acknowledge how cool it is. -Taylor
