That photo on the right at 31.00 of the woman, blurry background... Amaaaaaaaazing. 😊 Anywho... You're a wealth of knowledge, Annie. Yeah, photos, imagery, text... Between you and Don... I Love the info! Thank you! Oh... I also look forward to a RPPC mat/glossy identifying video some day. Good weekend !

This was great! I've been geeking on the 1840's since I realized Gonzo The Great from Muppet Christmas Carol and Bill The Butcher from Gangs of New York had a similar wardrobe that I found engaging. I'm a small nerd for men's fashion. I do some amateur living history from around 1600 and I have a fascination with why men's fashion got boring and how we express masculinity. Anyway, this video was a great into to the 1840s and helped me connect a lot of threads. Thanks!

why apologize for the 'white' history? it is history in its own right, just as any other, yes or no?

I may be 6 months off from your comment but I agree. If this had been 1840s fashion/history of Japan would someone feel the need to apologize for giving a lecture on it. No, it really took me out of it and I'm not watching anymore because it feels like after that she's more worried about what people think rather than what shes talking about.

@@lrose1310 no just posing a legitimate question. You have to choose what to make a video about and this one involves roughly the Victorian era. She could have chosen like I mentioned the edo or meji period or any other culter to talk about so why apologize if you chose the subject-matter? I'm not mad or "triggered" I'm just genuinely confused. You don't have to prescribe to any social or political beliefs to study a subject and the people who would watch a lecture on something like 1840s fashion/antiques knows your going to be focusing on almost exclusively western European stuff because that's the region the Victorian era style references. If I gave a lecture on olmec or Aztec artifacts should I give an apology to the audience because they sacrificed untold numbers of people, or is it my chosen job to explain these thing because we are adults who obviously have a similar desire for knowledge? Just my way of looking at it personally.

sounded more to me like they were speaking about how their perspective and research is white/eurocentric focused

Why describe the history as "unfortunately white" ? ..Kind of an awkward disclaimer.

It really is. She could have simply chosen another area of the world or other topic but chose this and made such an odd statement.

You guys need to relax lmao. She isn't saying white history is unfortunate or bad. She's saying a lot of what she studies and is discussing in this video revolves around white European/American history, and is apologizing if someone came to this video hoping to hear about history from elsewhere. She's apologizing because she doesn't know enough about history from elsewhere or on other races to feel comfortable including that in the video.
