Let's be honest tho, Rajdeep is no match for Vikram. It's really a 1:1 debate with a fly on the wall. Nobody cares which side the fly is on because all it is doing is making noise, being an irritant
People like Shashi tharoor can so effortlessly manipulate and present wrong facts as historically correct. For example, the greatness of Akbar. This is the real reason why us indians need to consider re-learning our history.
When confronted with unpleasant truth Tharoor’s technique is first accept ‘the first half is but with the second half I have a profound disagreement”! He did the same while debating with Sai Deepak. What a fraud of an academic.
And his other hollow line of argument is “what aboutary”. If Pakistan were to attack Bharat we shouldn’t fight back because that would be “what aboutry”! Give me a break.
Well said! Completely agreed with that observation. Shashi Tharoor needs a reality check which can only be fed to him by an "Indic" man such as J Sai Deepak himself.

NCERT history books : We only have Mughals and British.
It's such a shame that these history books didn't even mention The Marathas, Cholas, Pandyas, Cheras, Ahoms, Rajputs and other dynasties.
If you actually read the NCERT history books you'll realize there are full chapters on cholas, Vijaynagar empire and other empires. You haven't even seen the contents of a high school history book let alone read it.

I watched the debate. All Mr Sampath was saying that we need to acknowledge the brutalities which were unleashed on the Hindu communities since the 10th C . It will help reduce the suppressed memories of hate and carnage the Hindus carry with them since generations , the reason once the euphoria of independence, the vaulted merits of the qualities of secularism and hindu inclusiveness waned a bit , a strong Hindu philosophy was embraced by the majority. But NO .Shashi Tharoor and Rajdeep Sardesai will not listen. Going on and on and on about what they think shd be heard. I was extremely disappointed in Mr Tharoor.
Tharoor has always been an empty shell. He is lionized by a certain section of the population because he serves their bigoted political purpose.

Yes. In fact the point put forward by dr. Shashi tharoor is that it was meant for knitting the nation so they didn't particularly included the barbaric incidents and temple destruction. Agreed but who was stooping the same historians to point out the 17 times victory of Ahoms or glorifying the cholas, vijayanagara empire maratha maharana pratap rather than focusing on mughals & ghaznavids. Only fault they did was just defeated their enemies multiplr times however their enemies eliminated them completely when they got the opportunity.

Vikram Sampath made a passing reference to Hindu Kush and tried to link that with Muslim rule in India. The name Hindu Kush (killer) was given to this mountain range due to its forbidden topography. Thousands of people died crossing this terrain. It has nothing do with Mughals. The term Hindu Kush is in usage at-least for more than 2000 years
