one of the best videos on BM. I loved it and you are just super cool Mark. thank you. odd I lived in Cali most of my adult life (preinternet) and never heard of it. I live on the east coast now at 64 and have no desire to go, but I can and will watch every video I can to feel the joy and the see all the amazing artwork. I love it! thanks so much.

I was there in 2019, but after seeing your video, I realized I wasn't as present as I should have been. Your video put everything into context for me. I love that you featured the artwork of Burning Man in great detail and showcased the artistic vision of the creators. Please make more videos like this; it was very enlightening.

"Burning Man" is the most hypocritical, backwards, bullshit event you can encounter.
They preach "pro-environment" while literally DESTROYING the surrounding environment with trash.
They preach "Socialism" while charging money for tickets and getting RICH AS FUCK from it!
You are braindead, clueless, fake, or just inexperienced if you think this is a "cool" festival.
This guy who owns the channel is making money from the video, therefor this video in itself is 100% contrary to the "burning man" manifesto!
"Burning Man" should be renamed "Fake Man" because it is LITERALLY the largest gathering of fake, lost, and clueless people on the planet... that is no exaggeration, at all...
it is literally the largest gathering of people who have no idea WHO they are, or WHAT they want to be, they are lost individuals.
Everything about this event is the epitome of hypocrisy and fakeness!

this really for me captures a very holistic view of the burn. It shows the art side, the party side, the side that's missed the most I think which is the showing of what living in that community is like. I don't think I have seen very many films that effectively capture the whimsy and playfulness of the burn either so congratulations and you should be very proud of your video

Life is all about creation and that's what these people are doing. The are contributing to a cause greater than themselves. It's hard for one individual to do much unless they are extremely driven. But a small group of people working together for a common goal is almost unbeatable. I started this journey as a teenager back in the '60s and that was one exciting decade. But I am so proud of how far people have come since then. Awareness is growing exponentially. We are all in this reality together.

Wonderful video, and an amazing series of videos. Just some quick (hopefully none preachy) advice to anyone who wants to go to Burning Man or if you have any other dreams, don't keep putting it off! I've been fortunate enough to both attend and work at lots of festivals here in the UK both big and small but always had the ambition to one day go to Burning Man but kept thinking there would be plenty of time. Unfortunately I was pretty ill over the last 12 months so the chances of going now are slim (lung and mobility issues and health insurance would be prohibitive). So people, don't put off until tomorrow because you don't know what tomorrow will bring. Fortunately through Mark's videos I have hours of watching Burning Man ahead of me so I can live vicariously through these videos. On the positive side I now have a new ambition to start a small local arts festival locally in the spirit of Burning Man. And remember, live, love laugh, sing and dance. The rest is just filler :)

My only exposure to Burning Man as a concept is through pop culture references, which makes it sound like it's all drugs, sex, partying, and watching a big pile of wood burn. My impression from this video is that Burning Man *IS* all of that, but also there's a lot of cool art and interesting experiences.

Thank you from the deepest depth of my heart. To all of your for being Home to me.
    From Dorthy's Dream Journal.
    Dream 14, Dorthy's final dream:
We went on a long journey together, following an endless path.
We went to the city to see a great man.
A wizard we had heard so much about.
But in the end it wasn't about the man at all.
It was the self-discovery and the courage to go out and test ourselves in ways we never guessed or imagined.
The wizard man was looming in the distance.
    Scarecrow felt inadequate.
    The tin man felt unloved.
    Lion coward in fear.
I just wanted to go home.
We asked in unison, where is my mind?
Where is my heart? Where is my courage?
And the wizard man did the most unexpected thing.
    He burned.
He threw his arms up to the sky, fiery sparks making new stars in the full canopy of night.
And then burst into an inferno of light.
He was nothing but a hollow wooden thing.
    He had no specific power.
    He had no insight.
He had only himself, the stuff of his body to silently illuminate us.
As the fires consumed him the wind whipped flaming twisters off of his pyre.
And the four of us looked to each other.
In each other we saw mirrors of ourselves and through that we saw our own true strengths.
We grew bigger than the burn of the wizard man.
Dancing laughing planning through the night all the remarkable things we would do after we left this desert land.
The wizard man turned out to be something of a fraud.
But he gave us the initiative to find what we needed.
He was a spark, a catalyst, just like I learned about in science class.
And because of him we learned that everything we seek is already inside us.
The goodness and the bravery, the creativity and love, the resilience and wisdom.
Sometimes I may need this dreamworld to remember we have it.
But I don't need this desert to keep it.
    It's here.
    It's me.
    Dream 14, Dorthy's final dream:
Burning Man sky update Baker Beach Edition:
The epiphany of ecstasy and the ecstasy of epiphany.
Enter the passage into the infinitarium at night.
You might see a giant metal octopus all 8 arms aflame.
You might see a house sized unicorn sailing across the desert.
Or a giant driving chicken lit up against the night sky.
You might simply find a whirling spiral of fire and dust.
A beacon of metamorphosis that changes nothing but your perspective,
    Which,
    Which Is Everything.
You might find your way home.
    You might already be home.
    After all,
There Is No Place Like Home.

Wow, Mark, this was almost as magnificent as the sky (in Black Rock City or here in Portland, OR). And, there I am in Crimson Rose's fire ceremony (white shirt, radio, Lomo LC-A+ camera).
See you again in the dust (or Media Mecca) if we make it out of this alive. Or dead ... I'll be ok with Burning Man Zombie Edition.

I searched so long for that song ""Out of the Skies, Under the Earth" by Chris Zabriskie" really calming, I love it. Chris Zabriskie is the best.

I tend to value Mark's videos every year to reflect on my own experience at the burn, and while I enjoyed a couple chats with him in 2019, I was not his burn companion. You seem nice though.

I loved this video, thanks for putting it together! All the footage and interviews were great, and it was emotional to hear some of the life lesson things like discovering what's already inside you. It's my dream to go do some Burning Man - some day! I also look up at the sky more in the default world now :-)

I know I'm late to the game on these amazing videos, but I had a pretty rough end to 2022 where my dog died (I had her from when I was 10 to when I was 26, I almost can't remember life without her), I went through a bad breakup, and I had to scramble to find a new job after a 1 year internship ended- all between August and December. I was looking for something fun to do that would make me feel spiritually connected to myself again and one of my favorite UA-camrs mentioned Burning Man. Now I'm hooked and saving money to go. I plan to place a picture of my puppy in the temple and watch it burn to help me heal.

Sweet. As a life-long "not dog person" I have finally been coaxed into having a puppy and it's been a pretty great experience (and/despite a lot of peeing on the floor...). Hope you make it out there...

We the people All over the world Needs Burning Man Back !!! Now !!! Today in 2021, we need you so bad, it's like everything has been fractured, broken into factions that don't promote peace, but violence. Burning Man, We Need You, show us how it is to be human again, to peacefully interact with one another and enjoy every moment. May your light never go out.
