This JVC amplifier is my very close friend. The device is back to its old days. The happiness of the device and my friend became my happiness too. I wish you a pleasant viewing.
Muchas gracias.
It's a method, of course. What if there is no 3D printer? Not everyone has 3D. The machine is expensive. The products it produces are expensive. Honestly, it doesn't seem like a very effective solution. Greetings.
If this amplifier is your friend, then you have a mutual friend with my brother. My brother was a fan of disco music, and this amp connected to his Cerwin Vega allowed him to think he was John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever. Despite its 40watts per channel, this amp easily managed to rock (disco) the whole house.
ive got the same amp but its been making a loud humming the past year. I can turn up the speakers all the way up to hear the music but there is still a hum. I soldered the speaker wires at the ends in case they where connecting somewhere but still have a hum. its a nice amp but i dont think im going to put any more money into it. good video
Thank you so much. The reasons for the humming sound coming from the speakers can be many. Without seeing it, it's hard to tell why. I suggest you get professional support. best regards
Great job, of course! I'd like to know exactly which products you used for this operation. Which detergent to wash, which to lubricate, which to repaint, etc. Thanks Angel
Congratulations, good job I have a JA S44 and I have a question, the liquid in the jar, which you used for the circuits, what product is it? Thanks and congratulations again
It's a very nice clean up! Now how about it's Capacitors? Just because it's working now doesn't mean that it's going to work forever! It could but that all depends on it's Capacitors! Those STK hybrid amplifier chips are getting really hard to find second hand, forget about finding one new! If you want it to last, you need an LCR Bridge Meter to yes the condition of the Capacitors... If you can't get one, then go through and replace all of them... Section by section if you have to but do it! Even though a capacitor looks fine just from looking at it, you don't know what is going on inside, it's an electrochemical device, they degrade over time and they are always responsible when something else blows up... Then and only then can you call this a restoration!!!! If you love this amplifier, then do right by it... Otherwise great job 👍
Mister Peter Milanovski, first of all, thank you very much for your interest and appreciation. I measured all capacitors one by one with the LCR. Believe me, after the years, they were all incredibly solid as on the first day. Usually my main idea is to never touch a working device. If it works, everything is fine for now. When it malfunctions, then it should be done as required. There is a recap in many of my restorations. For example, I changed all the capacitors of Pioneer receveir. Because they absolutely had to change. Also, a good restoration is not just a recap. All elements in the circuits must be checked one by one. That's when we can talk about a real restoration. I have experienced a lot in the past. A friend of mine completely lost his device due to unnecessary recap. It's like changing the heart and not changing other organs. The patient dies on the operating table. All organs must be changed. Greetings and best regards. 9 hours ago
@@restorationsofmusicsystems8609 I'm happy that you have checked the Capacitors! Because but working or not! As a technician, hobby or not, when a piece of equipment hits your bench, you have to check everything! Once apon a time during the vacuum tube days... There were resistors that would drift in value and even today it's possible to have a vacuum tube amplifier show up on your bench that still has it's original dog bone resistors and all it's paper in wax Capacitors which all should be replaced, working or not! I fully understand what you are trying to say, if it ain't boke, don't fix it! Yeah it sounds logical, but! And that's a big but! What's the point of waiting for something to happen when if it happens and kills the transformer or some output stage transistors that are no longer available... You won't have anything to fix! Sure.. we are all talented people, we can find another transformer out of something else or even replace the whole power amplifier stage with something newer! But then the amplifier has lost its original value... It's never going to be what it was! A re-cap should never cause an amplifier to fail, all Capacitors should be checked before being installed for capacity, ESR, EPR, phase angle and Quality factor... And make sure that they are going in the correct polarity! It sounds like a lot of work but it's not, once you get into the habit, it becomes second nature... The only time a vacuum tube or a transistor failed was because of a fault in the manufacturing process which does happen but it's not very common and the other one is because of electrolytic capacitors! Did you know that way back when we only had black and white vacuum tube powered TV's, the manufacturer used to test the Capacitors at twice their rated voltage? It's true... Try that will modern Capacitors... You can't do it! They blow up! So what can we do? Well we can always replace the capacitor with the same capacity value but go up in voltage... That way, it's going to last a very long time before needing a re-cap... I hope that you don't misunderstand me, I'm not critical of your work! I'm just trying to be helpful and offer some sound advice from one technician to another! Today we have the internet and it gives us the opportunity to all be connected and keep in touch! Ideas, views and opinions can be shared where we can all be better at what we love doing.... It's very rare to see someone take something apart and clean it properly like you do... that's excellent! But you have to include the part where you check the components on the PCB... Sometimes you might miss something and it's the comments section that will tell you what you missed... But when it comes to capacitors.... If it's capacity value is lower or higher than what it's rated, then there's a good indication that there's a problem... Like I have said many times, a capacitor with high ESR means that there's going to be ripple, a capacitor with low EPR means that it's going to destroy something important..... So keep an eye out for that...
@@PeterMilanovski You are absolutely right. I think we are talking the same things. When a full restoration is requested from me, I automatically replace all capacitors immediately. Of course I know the risks of an old capacitor working. And I say this to all my friends. But they make the final decision. I would also like you to know that. I am not a professional. I am a person who works to improve himself more and more every day. It was great to chat with you. Thank you again for your warnings and insights. Regards.

Tambièn quiero un dato: Ese producto, creo que dice Sonax, que ès? Si estuviera cerca, mi Akai aa 1040, no tengo dudas que serìa tu paciente. Muchas gracias.
Great restoration and I love what you did for the bulb replacement, have you any ideas why mine working perfectly then just playing sound and keeps blowing the 2 5amp at back next to the relay, the lights stay on though
First of all, thank you very much. There may be a problem with the voltage to the lamps, or the lamp is about to fail. Unfortunately these lamps are no longer produced. It may be necessary to find new lamps or to produce different alternatives like me. I hope I was able to help you. Goodbye.
looking for volume knob for this amp, i have buy it without :( Also the Left channel start sound after 3 or 5 minutes, some one know why? is it filter capacitor to change? Sound very well! thanks all
Hello, I really enjoyed your video and I congratulate you, it is like new, I have the same amplifier and I wanted to ask you what type of paint did you use for the cover of the equipment? Thank you.
Hello. I got one of the same type but it doesn't work. i measure 55 volts at the input of the power supply, but the diodes are in pretty bad condition. What can you advise. thanks it.
Peter Holper, First of all, thank you for your interest. Your problem can be for many different reasons. First, check the transformer robustness. Then measure the strength of the 4 rectification resistances. Measure the values of the large filter capacitors after the resistors. Probably the problem could be here. Regards.
Merhaba Öncelikle elinize sağlık. Çok detaylı ve başarılı bir çalışma olmuş. İzmir’de bu cihazdan bir tane buldum. Siz tavsiye eder misiniz? Ayrıca bu tarz bir temizlik için size ulaşabilir miyiz ? Teşekkürler 👍🏻😎

I would have 3d printed new speaker terminals and made them banana sockets instead. They are wired so easy to swap over.

@@restorationsofmusicsystems8609 Before I could 3d print I would make a backplate out of thin wood. It works well and is cheap.

Your understanding of restoration is limited to the capacitor. Nothing solid changes. I don't know if I could explain it?
