I got this bike last week, found a used one practically new with 2500 miles on it. It's is AMAZING, very comfortable and very quick and flickable. Pretty much everything you said on the video
I'm thinking about replacing my 12 cbr1000rr with a 2016 S1000r. Since I bought my wr250r dual sport I've been spoiled by the upright seating position so it would be nice to have a lightweight fast bike with a more relaxed riding position for all day rides and this S1000r sounds like it could be the bike to get. Your review convinced me. However, it will be tough giving up the blade. Can you do clutch-less down shifts ?
+CycleCruza No clutchless down shifts but i am old school and have always used a clutch so sometimes I find myself forgetting i have this great feature.
+CycleCruza I've seen an Reddit discussion on why not all Quick shifter have down shifts. Most people had the opinion that it wouldn't bother to much that the S1000R does not have it. The upshift is what people generally use most of the time. Clutchless downshifts aren't really necessary and many people wouldn't use it. Also there is a really indepth video review of the S1000R on youtube. It's from Fluxx43. You should check it out.
Why trade in the blade man? You will regret it and will get screwed on trade in value. Plus the beemer has limited wind protection which will get old fast. Bikes are for keeping IMO especially if they are paid for.
Awesome bike, love it! I sat on one at the dealership in July of '14, but quite honestly the power potential scared the crap out of me. I've never owned a motorcycle at the time. So, I went with the R9t instead and it's awesome too in its own right. Love the white S1KR too. So I've been keeping my eyes open for one now that I've developed my skills on the R9T.
thanks RicViperMoto I'm sold. I've been debating the pros & cons in my mind for the past 6 months - 8 months since I had a very quick test ride on one. My main put off was my tip-toe situation stance at stand-still. I've put that too rest & gotten thicker under tread boots (from Daytona) and this bike is a done deal for me. Ride safe & respect from Australia.
Just bought one today in white. No test ride. Didn't need one. I've been 'hunting' the s1kr for 2 years. I knew more about this bike than the salesman and he knew his stuff.
Thanks :-) Getting my S1000R in about 1-2 weeks. Looking forward to that. Been riding Yamahas all life, but we´ll see... :-) Roads in Norway loves bikes !
I just testrode the s1000rr this weekend (free demo rides) for 20 minutes and I really, really fell in love with it. The r seems to be the ticket for all day rides, extended weekend trips, etc... How is wind bufetting, is your helmet in clean air?
You live in a beautifull area. Bought myself a S1000R from 2016 this Januari. All you say is true, it makes you smile, it does everything you want. The cruise control explain was nice to see. Need to arrange my dutch numberplates soon to ride... (imported mine myself from Germany). You have instagram? Cheers from the Netherlands.
Not a lot of great roads in Fl. but that looks pretty nice. I ride up there sometimes to get coffee at Bold Bean in Riverside (the only good coffee for hundreds of miles!). I'll have to take San Jose Blvd. next time.
Nice review, you've pretty much convinced me to go for this bike. Unfortunately they're very rare in Quebec. Also, you don't use the quickshifter? You never mentioned it either. Anyways, thumbs up from me, keep it up man!
Hi RicViperMoto - do you still have the BMWs1000r? I'm thinking of getting one as its a great time to buy here in Australia (it's currently new financial year & many dealers have great options for 2019 models).
+E.S. Slc very useful makes a world of difference really taking the strain off your neck and at high speeds it seems to plant the front because of added down force
you say the bike is really easy to ride. How to feel about new riders on the s1000r? I'm a new rider with no previous riding experience and wanted your thoughts on stepping up to the bmw after 12 months of riding? 6 months cbr 500r then 6 months super sports and then bmw s1000r. Due to work I will be riding cbr 500r for a 8 hr a day 5 days a week, after 12 months I would have many hrs of riding. anyways be cool and ride safe with greetings from south London uk.
+Mark Seale 323 New rider I would not advise out of the gate however if you gain seat time in the mentioned bikes above with a solid year then I don't see why you would have any problem. The bile has a rain mode that reduces power output and also has all of the rider aids such as traction control, Anti lock brakes ect. The biggest problem would be self control. There are riders that have no self control and or discipline ... with this bike if you loose respect it would kill you... Best of Luck!!
+Elie Nehme DDC is actually adjusting to the road conditions that you have hit after you hit it.. I guess that is the issue, not computing future road conditions. I can tell you that I prefer my suspension on the hard setting so I can feel the road through my arse. If on a long relaxing ride in Bumpy conditions I will set to soft. It works brilliantly for my tastes. I have been on very high speed runs thorough very bumpy conditions and I can report that it is as settled as it can be imo. Front stabilizer works fantastic as well. 20k miles and never any sense of an on coming tank slapper. Thanks for your question and watching the video. Be safe !
I just put bar risers on mine wunderlich america is the site. Check them out made the bike even more comfortable than it already is great upgrade they raised bars 25 mm
Hey man. Thanks for the vid bro. I am on the verge of changing bikes. Tuono factory, brutale rr or the bmw 1sk. The only thing holding me back on the bmw, which would be by far my best choice, is the lack in character of the bike. Red, white or black. The tuono and mv's have sick paint jobs and looks. Everyone has a red or black bike. ( mv issue is service too, not many dealers. ) anyway. any feed back on this would be appreciated. all in all, I am going from a shiver 750 to something quite bigger. :) can't wait. only a few more weeks till its time... tank again. Ulric in Montreal, Canada.
+Ulric Rousseau In my opinion the BMW taking the looks out is the best choice especially what you get for your money. Hands down if speed is your thing i can assure you no one will beat the s1kr not even a RR off the line with the fastest qtr mile (research). This bike does has more character than i thought it would however you make a great point but with the snap crackle and pop of the motor with stock exhaust does imo makes up for it. I have owned many of sportbikes, the bmw bar none has been the most lazer sharp at the same time forgiving as i have ever ridden. My next bike personally will be the new Tuano Factory because of the looks, v4 motor, and better winscreen giving it the superbike look with the upright bars. Aprillia is a dynamite product however it is Italian and a very small company and your valve adjustment service interval like that of the desmo ducati service will cost probably north of 1500$. I would not trust taking on long road trips as it would be more susceptible to issues. i now have 13000 miles on my bmw and it has given me zero issues... zero. Best of Luck!
have a need to replay my friend :) about that "soulless " bike character is all rubbish seen and heard on different reviews and some bike journalist and ppl who went for a ride on endless straight roads lik in states ;) im in Scotland where r the endless twisty roads and bike is perfect!!!!! no any other bike is that stable, breaks that good and all package is on another level compering with competition ;)
Hey yes I agree its superbe in all aspects, but I meant that the bike looks very ordinary compared to the tuono factory, monsters, mv augusta ect. They could have put in a little more thought into the colours and layout... but yes, its my choice and I am still gonna get it. Just wish it had a little more punch in the eye candy factor. :)
as a still pretty new rider with a years experience on a 2015 honda cb300f. (a 286cc bike). would it be wise to make the next step to this motorcycle? are it's plethora of electronic features enough to keep me from killing myself or ending up in jail?
I truly believe that the electronics package there is no reason why you couldn't in rain mode to start (plenty of power). Your biggest danger is going to be yourself being pre maturely tempted to start pushing too hard. If you respect it's power and use common sense I believe... Yes.. Only you can make that choice. Imagine a Chef that is somewhat comfortable and competent with his preparation and cooking skills however he has been using a butter knife and now purchasing one of the sharpest knives in the industry... its only a matter of time that he will cut himself! As long as he respects the blade and follows procedures he will only need a band-aid or a stitch or two... not loose a finger :< Best of Luck!
Probably the best review of this bike I have watched but I need to know what it is like for wind buffeting I hat this it gives me the shits thanks for a classy review and one of the best
thanks for the kind words,, as for wind buffeting, it does a great job of breaking up the wind at highway speeds 65- 75 however i went with the z-teknik widscreen which did wonders with almost zero wind buffeting at those same speeds.
I only realized that when I saw you downshift to third for the round about, but then I think you used the clutch to upshift again. So I figured I'd ask. Just wanted to remind ya!
ya man! Ive only seen one other in town.. were you the guy i pulled up next to in my white jeep last week? I opened my door and said wazup? Message me on instagram @ (ricvipermoto) when you are riding
+Michael McClure i use a "Ram mount" setup. One part clamps on the handle bar and the other part is spring loaded and holds most phones. Search Ram Mount Motorcycles

Congrats!! and i use the Clamp mount that you twist tighten because i use it in my jeep also
I test rode this bike. I literally was laughing with joy as i pulled away from the dealer. Bought it that day.
Congrats!! Check out her new look Tessa 2.0 (ricvipermoto) on instagram!
Electronic cruise control sounds like heaven. Wish I woke up earlier so we could've rode, looked amazing out!
MotoBomb yes.. i love waving at our peace officers with both hands... as they generally return a COOLAID smile ;)

+CycleCruza No clutchless down shifts but i am old school and have always used a clutch so sometimes I find myself forgetting i have this great feature.
RicViperMoto I know the s1000rr superbike has clutch-less downshifts, too bad they didn't put it on the s1000r too.
+CycleCruza I've seen an Reddit discussion on why not all Quick shifter have down shifts. Most people had the opinion that it wouldn't bother to much that the S1000R does not have it. Zapoo92 I've seen that a long time ago.I don't see what the big deal is with using the clutch for up and down shifting. I like using the clutch.
Why trade in the blade man? You will regret it and will get screwed on trade in value. Plus the beemer has limited wind protection which will get old fast. Bikes are for keeping IMO especially if they are paid for.

George Carmen do you get any handle bar vibration?
Thanks :-) Getting my S1000R in about 1-2 weeks. Looking forward to that. Been riding Yamahas all life, but we´ll see... :-) Roads in Norway loves bikes !
Hi,
Did you purchase the S1000R and if yes what is your experience? Thank you
I have 4 kawasaki motorcycles and on Tuesday I will be getting a S1000R 2017! cant wait
how do you feel about the bike after 2 years?
Hi mate, did you had any issues with coolant? im thinking to get "14 sk1r
RIC hows the windscreen ? I have a 2017 s1000r and thinking of getting the windshield but wanted your opinion if its worth the 150 dollar mark ?
I just testrode the s1000rr this weekend (free demo rides) for 20 minutes and I really, really fell in love with it. The r seems to be the ticket for all day rides, extended weekend trips, etc... How is wind bufetting, is your helmet in clean air?
Great review! Not out of the question for my next bike. Thanks for the video and see you at Sonic!
Nice video, do you get much vibration through the pegs etc. It's been mentioned by other riders, thinking of one next year.
+John Hanlon no more through the bars however that was sorted on the new 2016 and up. If your around jacksonville find me @bmwmcjax
RicViperMoto thanx for the offer but live in Scotland 😆
+John Hanlon Hey John none what so ever
Hey man how is the windshield I’m looking to buy one but don’t know if is worth the 200 dollars price
Great bike and I have the same one. Are you using the stem mount for your ram mount and if so what length connector bar did you get .
Thanks, the shortest..
Not a lot of great roads in Fl. but that looks pretty nice. I ride up there sometimes to get coffee at Bold Bean in Riverside (the only good coffee for hundreds of miles!). I'll have to take San Jose Blvd. next time.
great vid! i have a 2015 R myself too =). what mount are you using for your cellphone?
+Enoch C Ram Mount
+AussieRider
thanks! got one!
+Rob Scherer
thanks! got one!
Nice review, you've pretty much convinced me to go for this bike. Unfortunately they're very rare in Quebec. Also, you don't use the quickshifter? You never mentioned it either. Anyways, thumbs up from me, keep it up man!
Saajan Chowdhry thanks ...good lord i CANT remember EVERYTHING, lol
Hi RicViperMoto - do you still have the BMWs1000r? I'm thinking of getting one as its a great time to buy here in Australia (it's currently new financial year & many dealers have great options for 2019 models).
Mine’s jerky around 4500-5000 rpm while holding throttle steady. May be an ignition or fueling issue. Have you experienced this?
Is that windscreen useful? It looks like you have the longer version of the screen? Thank you.
+E.S. Slc very useful makes a world of difference really taking the strain off your neck and at high speeds it seems to plant the front because of added down force

hi. someone says that the DDC suffers
somehow in sorting out bumpy roads yet it is perfectly set up for well paved roads. is he right?
+Elie Nehme DDC is actually adjusting to the road conditions that you have hit after you hit it.. I guess that is the issue, not computing future road conditions. What windshield is that? And how was it?
I have a S1000r, your windshield doesn't look stock? What model and brand is it? And, are you happy with it?
Thanks!
z technik. All the info is in the quick walk around video.
+RicViperMoto and it works great much better especially for high speed runs %)
I just put bar risers on mine wunderlich america is the site. Check them out made the bike even more comfortable than it already is great upgrade they raised bars 25 mm

go to ric vipermoto on instagram with the new akra black gills and other mods it looks a bit better
+RicViperMoto can't find your instagram page. I saw the Facebook one. looks good.
How's the wind protection? What kind of screen do you have?
Does a great job I think over the fly screen that was on it lol. Keeps a lot of wind pressure off your chest. Z-Technik VStream
awesome man! I really can't wait to get one. tho have to pay off my Ute and current bike first. really nice looking area too.
Which model year is it?
as a still pretty new rider with a years experience on a 2015 honda cb300f. (a 286cc bike). would it be wise to make the next step to this motorcycle? are it's plethora of electronic features enough to keep me from killing myself or ending up in jail?

+RicViperMoto hey thanks for the quick response and advice. I would love to get this bike someday!!!
can you show me how did you mount your ram mount for the phone? thanks
You've sold me on this bad boy!
Lol thanks, yeah wait till you ride it I'm now at 6k miles and still can't get enough.
great video!
+Lalit Hemrajani thanks!!
did you ever try the Tuono 1100?

nice educated reply thanks ric
Hi, I was wondering how much this bike cost you otd? Thanks
Depends on options... Options can get this bike up to over 22k...starts around 14k though but everyone gets options...lol
sweet review!!!
Thanks!!
ahhh Saajan, you are brilliant, yes i do use the quickshifter!!! Perfect example of JUST HOW SPOILED I AM!! LOL... HOW UNGRATEFUL I can be sometimes!!
I only realized that when I saw you downshift to third for the round about, but then I think you used the clutch to upshift again. So I figured I'd ask. Just wanted to remind ya!
Nice vid peace.
What's up man, i live in Middleburg and have an R as well! Would like to ride sometime.
ya man! Ive only seen one other in town.. were you the guy i pulled up next to in my white jeep last week? I opened my door and said wazup? Message me on instagram @ (ricvipermoto) when you are riding
So which bike feels faster, the cbr1k or s1k?
the s1k is faster. Pulls harder than any bike i have ridden, however cbr1k has the s1kr on top speed.
Thanks man, makes sense.
How do you mount your phone on the bike?
+Michael McClure i use a "Ram mount" setup. One part clamps on the handle bar and the other part is spring loaded and holds most phones. Search Ram Mount Motorcycles
+RicViperMoto Thanks for the info. I appreciate it!
Do you use the U-bolt mounting base?
hey dood just wanted to say: great work ^.^ keep it up ;3
ok...cya around
Thanks!

Boring review
Thanks! Sorry for any pain I caused, it was pretty boring
