This is one of the best motorcycle reviews I've ever watched-and I've watched hundreds. Really credible, really knowledgable, very well articulated. Great job.

Watching this review May 2020 and it's one of the best reviews on this particular model I have seen. I took a 2020 model out on Saturday 9th May for a test ride & it was a polished easy to ride bike. This bike covers commuting to work, weekend getaways & the occasional twisty road ride. This bike does it in spades. The fueling is magical. You can just ride around at low speeds all day & the bike won't buck you off. Great review again Sir.

The S1000R is literally the only bike that I think could make me sell my beloved Street Triple R. Great review, I know it's nearly a year old now but I think it's the best review I've seen by an individual. Thanks for uploading this.

By far the best channel on youtube for motorcycle reviews. Unbiased comments and pretty much perfect on every topic. Very informative even for those that are track day riders and know a little bit more than the average new rider.

Love your reviews...only part that you forgot to mention is forth mode called Dynamic PRO. This mode is activated by inserting small chip plug under the sit and it is part of dynamic package. Usualy service people will install it after first service. That is an mode that release a full beast on this bike. You are then on your own and skill of riding then come in the place...Anyway keep up good work with reviews not many ppl can keep me for 40-50min to watch hehe

I gotta give it to you, I think your reviews are the best on UA-cam. I'm serious. I was considering this bike a while back as it has on paper an unbeatable package. I test drove it and loved it, but there was something lacking in terms of character. I think I'm just a 2 cylinder junkie and ended up getting the Ducati Streetfighter. Great review man, please keep them coming!!

I used to think the same about abs and once I headed home as it started to snow, the snow accumulated to about an inch and I've engaged the abs. On my last turn I got cut off and the sleet was so slick the abs got engaged from the front wheel and it probably saved my bike.

Absolutely fantastic review mate, first class, i took the demo bike out in the UK yesterday and after watching this review and i now fully understand what was giving me so much confidence to ride this bike harder than i would normal do on any other bike, the electronic package on this bike is outstanding and the detailed way in which you explained what the traction control and the active suspension were doing on this bike was very clear and decide, i now understand where my confidence was coming from, not so much my riding skills but the bike electronic package!
I fully embrace technology, especially if it helps keep you safe and helps you stay alive if you mess things up as in going into a corner to hot, i think this bike is outstanding and i am now 99% sure after watching your review to be buying the new 2017 model which is launched next week in the UK, i had so much fun on this bike yesterday i can only liken it too ,i felt a kid who had free tickets rides for his favorite ride at the fun fair over and over again all afternoon, this bike is phenomenal, thank you for the review!....Subscribed

this is a great video, you just earned yourself a subscriber, I'm looking into one of these for many reasons. one because I need something fast in my life since I'm getting rid of my car that used to keep up with 600's. I've always wanted a bike, I used to ride dirt when I was younger and I'm a bigger person as you can see from my channel. my friend had a 2014 s1000rr which he loved and I loved also, unfortunately he totaled it 4 months after he got it. I wanted something like the rr due to it's computer, but I know it'd be my main form of transit since I want to keep my new car in the garage. I feel this bike is perfect for me to refine my skill of riding on the street, and be enough for me to learn how to ride past the TCS system. Great video!!

brilliant bike. Ive just bought it. Went in to trade in my old bmw gs 1200 for a new gs but test drove this one first and couldn't believe just how good it was. Super smooth, loads of power, comfy with lots of toys. I was sold. Now I've had it a couple of wells and it keeps a smile on my face. Even here in Inverness with the good old Scottish weather its a fab bike. The BMW dealer even allowed me to test ride it and keep it overnight. How many dealers would allow you to do that?Great review of a brilliant bike.

The think you said about BMW dealers willing to let you test ride and japanese dealers not so much..YES. I recently went to a Honda dealer and the guy tried to make me feel stupid for asking for a test ride. As if I am going to drop 5 figures on a vehicle I have never ridden. Unbelievable.

This is the best (OF MANY) S1000R reviews I've watched - great job.
Quick question: I am about to buy one, and I muddied the waters a bit by demoing an S1000XR yesterday (for about 100 miles). I still am leaning toward the S vs the XR, but I did like the more upright riding position of the XR (what I didn't like are (1) the price increment and (2) the higher seat position).
Have you ridden the XR, and do you have any thoughts on this dilemma I am having?

It may have been up loaded 15th September 2014 but it is still very relevant today. This BMW is a 'complete motorcycle.' Yes, there is the KTM SuperDuke and Aprilia's V4 TuonoRR/RF. These are the top 3. Each with its own characteristic. The s1000r provides the rider a best of both worlds which, for me, gives it the edge. A great & even balanced review by Fluxx43.

Hey, nice video and review. I just bought the same bike (even same color) about 3 1/2 weeks ago, now getting ready for the 600 miles maintenance. One thing I've noticed, unlike yours my bike has 4 riding modes, besides rain, road and dynamic modes, mine came with dynamic pro, which is balls to the wall crazy fun (provided of course that you know what you're doing). In that mode, abs is turned way down and so is traction and wheelie control, and trust me it wheelies. The rest is the same and I absolutely love it, coming from a MV Agusta brutale 1090 rr, which was a handful, this bimmer is so stable it's magic.
Are you in San Diego? I used to live in Orange County and seem to recognize some of the roads you're riding on.
    Safe riding

first of all. thank you. such an excellent review. thorough, meaningful & honest. could've had more cons but that's subjective.
Now, regarding your comment about how the impact from the speed bump on the rear was reduced because the front told the bike to dampen the rear. maybe the rear suspension is just simply softer than front suspension?

I've watched almost all the S1000r videos since I am a hair away from buying this motorcycle (current bike Triumph Street IIIr), and agree that your review is the best, so good that I watched it 3 weeks ago and again today. I was only able to see the tach on my monitor, so I am unsure as to whether you were ever in neutral when you were stopped. Since that is something I choose to do when safe, my question is how easy is it to shift into neutral as you are stopping or stopped? Thanks so much..........

Great review indeed and very relatable. Keep up the good work!
I'm very happy with my new black S1KR for 4 months now. Coming from a 899 Panigale, MT-09 (FZ09 in the US), 848 and RSV1000R to name a few. This one has it all... it's true!
Regarding the driving modes - don't know if this is an European thing - but mine has 4 modes; Rain, Road, Dynamic and Dynamic Pro (as in all controls are off). This last mode can be activated with a coded plug only.
Just to add some more information to your massive load; when front braking the back braking will be enabled simultaneously in a certain percentage. The DDC suspension has 3 modes for the driver only and 3 more with passenger...

i have an 15' RR and for many of the reasons you stated I'm thinking of switching its more practical. if it had a quick shift pro that's downshift also I would be switching instantly. it's an option I love on my RR, the XR has it also but I'm not sure I'm ready to go there yet being 30 Y/0.
awesome review, still a great bike the entire package like you said but shift assist pro would have tipped it to an easy decision. i hope Bmw adds it soon to the R.
the exhaust makes some awesome sounds with shift pro and it just adds a touch more to the experience.

I'm looking at getting the 2016 if discounted a little or 2017 soon since there is no major updates/changes.
    Thank you

I'm 18 and my first bike was a honda grom and I still drive it, is it a good idea to move straight to the s1000r from the honda grom?

thanks for a great review. I used to ride a Zx6 R and really enjoyed it. Now I want to ride again and not sure if I should go naked or fully sports bike with fairings. Which one do u enjoy more for riding on hwys and weekend cruise. And have u ridden Tuono at all.

If im riding on the street, id prefer to be on a naked bike. I love the Tuono, id get that over this bike personally,

+Fluxx43 why would you choose the Touno over this?

    Fantastic review.
I test road this bike the other day back to back with the Panigale 899. This bike felt very sterile in comparison. I think I just may not like inline 4 cylinders. The tech on this bike certainly is an attractive package but doesn't necessarily equate to more fun. More comfortable, of course, everyday rider friendly. Maybe the first every liter commuter bike?!?!?!

Excellent Vid.. This bike utilizes the same quick shifter at the RR with Rev match downshifting correct?

Ric Viper Same as previous GEN RR, no blip downshits only standard quickshift.

did you sell the s1000rr? or was it a test bike?
what about your fz-09? would you prefer s1000r over the fz09?

I've found the quick shifter does require a strong lift with your foot . As I go up in gear though it gets better . Great Review.

Did you ever gave it a thought to install a bar riser? Ask because (I'm 5.8) that would be my number one addition to the bike.

At 5 foot 8 Inches you would need to be well over 6ft to even need to consider that. You will fit without a single issue on the stock ergonomics

I absolutely love this bike. I see myself on one next summer. Yay!!!! I wonder what changes will be made. Maybe some new colors.

And this video is awesome. As a new rider it has given me total confidence in spending the extra money for the rider aids that this bike so generously has.

Just a small correction,@16.23 there are 4 riding modes. It is just that to unlock Dynamic Pro you have to use the coding plug.
    Besides that, excellent review :)
