Finally, a HUGE thank you to Lysella for helping me with the editing for the first time for this video. I didn't have the courage in me to make it sooner because of all the heavy editing needed to add all the text and images; this video couldn't have been made without her help.
Hi! American here missing your videos. Do you ever think you'll do another pokemon generation? These have become some of my favorite videos to fall asleep to. It's like counting sheep kind of but way better haha. Plus I love hearing the french counterparts. It would make my entire year to one day see another generation done : )
Even at 32 I don't care how old I get, I've always been a fan of Pokémon. I'm not sure how many years I've enjoyed your channel, but this is great! As always thanks for what you do :) oh and have a happy valentines!
Can we expect to see a Hoenn/Gen 3 video sometime soon? These videos have been some of the best asmr ever and Hoenn is my favorite generation, I’d love to hear that version
Soooo so glad you did another one of these. I really enjoy your little comments on the names, which pokemon you have always liked etc.; gives the whole thing so much character and detail :) watched it the last 3 nights and i believe i have only heard the first 30 pokemon so far before drifting off to sleep :)
It never occurred to me that Pokemon would have different names in different languages. What an amazing video. Thank you for making it and including the translations and where the names come from. It's so interesting and they put a surprising amount of thought into different names in different languages. Really fascinating.
The cool part is that the naming job falls solely on the translators for the games. The Japanese and English names are created with the actual Pokemon, but their foreign names come later when localization teams are translating the games. Because a few of the translations (notably Spanish) had notoriously horrible translations from the source material, a lot of first and second generation Spanish Pokemon have stupid names that don’t make sense. For similar reasons, the first few generations don’t have new names and just use the English names in a couple of translations due to the series not receiving localization support in those languages until later generations. Pretty interesting stuff.
Those pokemon trigger name are so tingly!!! Can't wait for the 3rd generation, if you feel doing it of course, I could listen to all of the generations with your soothing voice!
I really liked this video! It was neat looking at the English and French similarities and differences between the renaming of all the Pokémon’s original Japanese names :) I also learned new French words!
Such a cool video idea! Your voice is very relaxing, and your mic and sound quality are wonderful. I have been trying to work with loud construction noises outside, and playing this video with headphones has helped me relax and stay on task. Thank you very much! 🥰
sorry if someone else explained this, but i thought i could help with cyndaquil. they basically misspelled "cinder" and combined that with "quill", like what porcupine's have. So it's basically a fire porcupine lol.
It’s interesting how Magcargo in English (and most other languages) ends using a modified spelling of the French word for snail, Escargot. But it’s actual French name is completely different 😂
I really enjoy saying the french pronunciation along with you, it feels like a childrens educational program, very wholesome and comforting, thank you for such a great sequel :)
Very perfect and calming down video! And pokemon gen 2 (crystal) is one of my favourite games, so the topic of the video was interesting for me ^^ and i loved to hear all the french names for the pokemon as well! ^^. btw, a really funny part of video for me was, when you said the name of the pokemon Qulbutoké. It sounded exactly like a word in my native language (Finnish). The Word; "Kylpytakki", which means like a "Bath robe" ^^ Amazing videos, keep doing you. i have been a fan of these videos for many years, and they calm me down and give my soul calmness, so i can feel good even if i didnt feel good previously, your videos calm me down and help me feel good without anything.
Listening to you for a while really made it hard for me to pay attention and focus on my french colleagues. I feel sleepy in minutes hearing french accented english now :D
I found this video--and by extension, this channel--by pure coincidence, but I really love the sounds and triggers from this audio. At first, I'll be honest, I didn't think this would affect me as much as it should, but lo and behold, it came out really nicely!! Excited to see more from you~!! ^w^
Aw, you guys got Feraligatrs with a full name! If you didn’t know, ours is spelled Feraligatr because of the old Gen 2 character limitation (just ten letters!) I guess they never changed it for future generations because the -atr spelling was already published, aired, and printed all over the place 💀 So glad you did a sequel to the last video!
Endivie is my most favorite Pokemon, don't know why but it goes from cute to awesome. I'm 28 now, didn't change haha. Between we pronounce it Endivie in german, so En-Di-Wi-Eh, we do say the e in the end. :D
Yay! You're back with this. It's great stuff. Yet again, another name I want is Embrylex. Just like Akwakwak. Sounds way better! Is there any English name you've liked where you think it's better than the French counterpart?
So the idea behind the Chikorita name is because in Spanish adding the suffix -ita/ito means small or cute, Perro (dog), Perrito (Puppy), Burro (Donkey), Burrito (Little Donkey). A cute chicory plant (I guess, Spanglish is weird like that).

You and me both 🙌 #geodude
33 and just got back into it. Fun is fun. :)
Our generation has the advantage of not feeling like we need to grow up ina certain way!
Same I grew up with it
About to be 30 and I would never trade those years
The first iteration was what introduced me to your channel! It’s such a high effort video, thanks for the sequel
Can we expect to see a Hoenn/Gen 3 video sometime soon? These videos have been some of the best asmr ever and Hoenn is my favorite generation, I’d love to hear that version
Hoenn best Gen :D
Cyndaquil is Cinder and Quill (the spikes on the hedgehog or a porcupine ). The same kind of idea as the French name.
don’t make us wait another 9 months for the next generation 😭
😢
This comment aged well

22:30 you just gave us the ASMR Intro to Thrift Shop.
This deserves more views. I hope we get more videos for more of the generations.
The time and effort to put everything on the screen is amazing.

Oh yay, I'm so excited that you've made another one of these! I have only recently subscribed to your channel and I love your voice, it's so relaxing
This has made my weekend, I've fallen asleep to your first one dozens of times, really looking forwards to this too
Such a cool video idea! Your voice is very relaxing, and your mic and sound quality are wonderful. I have been trying to work with loud construction noises outside, and playing this video with headphones has helped me relax and stay on task. Thank you very much! 🥰
Loved the first one, was very glad to see a sequel
Houndoom according to the Pokédex : "the pain inflicted by his fire breath will never go away"
So adorable 🥰
sorry if someone else explained this, but i thought i could help with cyndaquil. they basically misspelled "cinder" and combined that with "quill", like what porcupine's have. So it's basically a fire porcupine lol.
Of course Slugma is an easy "Ligma" joke in French as well

'Akwakwak' is still undefeated in the field of Pokemon names.

Listening to you for a while really made it hard for me to pay attention and focus on my french colleagues. I feel sleepy in minutes hearing french accented english now :D
haha! I've actually been praying for this video! I learned so much from the 1st video, this is exciting! Thank you :D
i already *loved* Totodile, but add how it sounds when Moons whispers it's name as another reason to love it lol
Gen 3? I need that video🖤
Ma pure i video sulle generazioni successive eh ahah

I discovered your channel through the last Pokemon name video and I've really loved your content! Keep up the great work ❤
I found this video--and by extension, this channel--by pure coincidence, but I really love the sounds and triggers from this audio. At first, I'll be honest, I didn't think this would affect me as much as it should, but lo and behold, it came out really nicely!! Excited to see more from you~!! ^w^

Ah yes, the sequel to one of my favorite UA-cam videos :D :D :D
Endivie is my most favorite Pokemon, don't know why but it goes from cute to awesome. I'm 28 now, didn't change haha.
Between we pronounce it Endivie in german, so En-Di-Wi-Eh, we do say the e in the end. :D

HERACROSS IS BETTER THAN PINSIR
Concordo
Yay! You're back with this. It's great stuff.
Yet again, another name I want is Embrylex. Just like Akwakwak. Sounds way better!
Is there any English name you've liked where you think it's better than the French counterpart?
Would you do the third generation? That one I'm sure would be awesome.
I loved the video!! ♡
Love it, amazing video
Thanks a lot 👍🏼
Thank you !
yasss been waiting for this one
It's finally here thanks to @lysella ! 🙏
Never thought I’d be watching a video that spans linguistics, ASMR, AND Pokémon, but my night has been made by discovering this. Thank you :)
Perfect whispers
So relaxing 😌
Very soothing, thank you.
@Yotsuba よつば Ouep!
