As someone with $1000's of dollars in lures, I can 100% say I regret wasting money on every single one of them because I pretty much only use senkos because they just work and are so versatile.
I can take one rod and a small bag with hooks, some weights, and a couple different colors of senkos and pretty much catch anything. My days of carrying 3 different rod setups and 30lbs of crap around are over.

@Knightlystuff right? Stick with what's simple and tried and true. Not a lot of grass in the spot I'm fishing, then it's a wacky or a texas rigged senko. Amen. I've been using, fixing and making cheap lures for over a decade now and never had problems catching fish. Two days ago I spent about $6.50 on two spinners, that's the most I spent on lures in last 15 years.
I am a part of these younger generations in our 20s and it's sad to see how people my age think you need to rob a bank to catch fish because they are being constantly bombarded by media that they are less of an angler unless they buy fancy, shiny, expensive new toys.
Worst part? They don't even have the balls to cast into thick lillypads and weeds, even with weedless rigs they still stick to the outer edges while I drag my curly tails over and through thick and thin.

Never, ever spend more than $10 - $20 on lures, comming from a seasoned fisherman. Learn how to fix, make and modify your own lures and you will never have to spend half of what social media influencers spend, more like in your life time you won't have to spend as much as they do in a year or a month. You can repair all your soft plastics with a bit of heat, just take a lighter, warm up two sides untill they are almost runny and press them together, hold for a minute and it's fixed. We all started with that and I have soft plastics that are some 15 years old, been through dozens of such patches and still catch fish.

I catch 100 crappie a day every time I go on a bobber/jig combo. Any fishing method can be productive if it offers the right presentation and opportunity to strike. What 99% of fisherman mess up and don’t catch a fish lol. Dude I’m still not very good at throwing a wacky. Would rather throw a Texas rig worm any day. But I’m getting more confident with the wacky.

I fish with a wacky because honestly up until like 6 months ago I never loved fishing but now I'm always begging to go fishing with my dad. I'll stick to wacky worms until I can cast and not get stuck in a tree.

I mean the “real fisherman” is 100% right in everything he is saying! People couldn’t figure out how to use live baits so they had to make em and sell them for more and the fishing community is a joke for feeding into the “lure” bullshit 😂

Claiming "it doesn't take any skill to fish with whacky worms" is just hilarious because it implies it takes skill to fish with everything else. Learning how to set a hook takes approximately 10 seconds to learn.

Eveyone in my country uses bobbers with worms? Cheap zo find in your garden and easy to fish also catches many good fish and you can use small fish to get big fish.
