Great talk. A great overview of our predicament with the current Capitalist Economic system. Lots of recent books and industry moves recognizing this, including the Vatican and the World Economic Forum, but changes need to be swift and substantial.
It's so wonderful to hear the ideas of intelligent people who are actually paying attention to the problems and challenges we're currently facing as a species. Thank you for this!
Because youtube, owned by Google, has no incentive in moving away from capitalism. A big reason for this is Google's massive dependence on energy for data centers. They require so much energy that solar power is not feasible for them, so they need the grid, as is, run off dirty energy. Google makes its money off advertising. Blockchain technology will ultimately make computing more efficient. But Google is not moving in this direction. Google represents the past, not the future.
@@angusorvid8840 I agree about Google, but in this case, it seems to be the Long Now Foundation that decided the title of the video they themselves posted, no?
our system isn't natural. unless everything is natural and there is no such thing as unnatural. Our system is forced into being every day by immense efforts. A huge proportion of human work consists of forcefully making this system keep existing, every day. A huge proportion of the jobs are to manhandle the world into still being this system. It's about as unnatural and full of intentional effort as anything could possibly be
Carbon is not the problem, pollution is bad, the climate IS changing, it’s much worse than is proposed in the propaganda, it’s not going to unchange, we are for a reset, the sun is the culprit, the galactic superwave is the trigger, our failing geomagnetic field is the canary in the coal mine. Would you like to know more?
that dumb person criticising China's system. Examples of failure don't prove systemic failure. At the systemic level, if you look at real numbers, China may be making progress towards sustainability. Every country and system has many examples to show of particular failures. You have to do the wider hard numbers analysis to see if something is working overall. Geez Louise- look at how many businesses fail in the West. You don't take that as evidence in itself that the system as a whole isn't operational
I agree. china is going unclear. that means their smart. so is India. Us? nope. we keep burning coal cause you cant power cities with solar panels or windmills!

everything sold for less than it costs to make... so it's future generations who will be paying the cost. Yep, that's what I thought!
But it's Free....
Just trust the Government and Experts 😜🤣😂
