    My 11-year-old niece asked me why people wear makeup, and I said “It’s just a fun thing to do if you want.” I feel the same way about skincare routines that go beyond the absolute essentials (cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen). It’s fun, but by no means necessary. Especially not if you’re a teenage girl. Now, I would have appreciated this skincare advice as a teenage girl, when I was ripping my skin up with Sea Breeze and walnut scrubs, but I would probably also have felt pressure to do more than was necessary.

      Ehhh, I'd disagree with the skincare. If you develop acne in your teens it is necessary to have a routine for help heal your skin and protect it from developing too many acne lessions in the first place

      Unless it is for medical reasons or protection (sunscreen), you shouldn't use any of it. Its way better for your mental health to just own it rather then try and achieve made up beauty standards by capitalists exploiting peoples insecurities for monetary gain, and it is cheaper. Just as much as you shouldn't listen to them, you shouldn't listen to me, be what you want to be, don't answer to no one.

      I'd argue that even moisturizer is NOT necessary for some skin types. I break out to all hell no matter what facial moisturizer I use, the extra moisture just isn't good for my naturally greasy skin.

    • @Hannahsx
      @Hannahsx 9 місяців тому

      @@fantasystaplesuwu1554 Moisturiser is actually essential for oily skin. It is a MASSIVE myth that oily skin needs no moisture. you have excess oil, not excess moisture. see a professional to find out what you actually need. just trying random stuff will never work.

    • @Hannahsx
      @Hannahsx 9 місяців тому

      @@fantasystaplesuwu1554 Also, if you're trying a new skincare product and breaking out, congrats! that is normal. it happens to everyone. your skin needs time to get used to it. as in, 1-2 months

    bro it's so sad how they used a picture of wonyoung to show a glow up. she was 14, and she's 19 now. she's at a very low weight and has had plastic surgery, and she looked beautiful before. also i don't know how to feel about them stealing photos from the true beauty webcomic.

    100% an AI script and voice. The kids won't notice though. And that's the unnerving thing.
    This botted AI channels rake it in from small children.

    • @VioletE420
      @VioletE420 9 місяців тому +21

      Even if a child recognizes it as AI, they might not understand what that means or why it matters if they still like it. Like how children still watch popular UA-camrs who take advantage of their audience or scam them.

      Maybe some don’t but maybe some do, I’m a teen in those ages and I’m fine with that fact but looking better just makes people more confident
      Like how people don’t wear makeup because they’re insecure, they wear it because they just think it looks good and better, like people would prefer pretty clothes over ugly clothes obviously
      I used to think I wouldn’t wear makeup when I’m older bc I thought it was bc people are insecure but I learned that it isn’t

  • @julsdemers4740

    fun fact: for oily skin, its actually recommended that you moisturize MORE, because the cause of oily skin is often the skin lacking moisture and thus creating it itself!

    13 years is the age when kids are so offended to be called kids, they want to grow up and be like adults the most, so I'd say this channel got the ages on point. Especially with all the Korean aesthetic, kpop being the trendiest thing among teens now. And it's not even that beauty-standard heavy, could have been so much worse with how closely ed twitter is related with kpop twitter for example and things like that. So good for them for finding the niche I guess.

    • @BloomingRose438
      @BloomingRose438 8 місяців тому +1

      I’m 14 and I used to not want to grow up for the benefits bc I’m the youngest so as a child you can just like exist and get whatever you want
      It sounds worst than it actually is dw- I don’t mean in a spoiled way but like if I make a mistake when I’m older they would get more and more mad even if it’s not my fault and it stopped them from arguing around me and when we’re old people are less impressed by everything we do
      They said in this vid that this makes kids scared to grow up but I don’t think so, I don’t think that’s what it meant
      Anyway now I do want to just bc I want my own house and to finish hell AhEm I mean school

  • @creativeusername8339

    Teenagers should use skin care, I think it's just an extra step for hygiene alongside showering.
    Skin care, not meaning *"slather your face with a product jammed with chemicals suited for adults"* as in wash your face with soap regularly.
    Notice how I didn't say 'daily'? Young people don't *need* skincare, as our skin is at it's peak usually during this age. People ages 13-18 should absoloutely not be doing skin care daily. The routines should not require more than 1 or 2 products periodt, as any more is far too complex for a age range with usually the healthiest skin.
    I'm no dermatologist, but I can assume that it's probably not the healthiest for adolescents to be using adult skin care so frequently.
    Especially the parents, they shouldn't be buying into these kid's wants rather than needs just because the internet said so.

    I feel like the AI script writer also got stuck in a minor loop, because for every single section of skin care it repeated, "Be sure to use a product that works for your skin type!" As if that's brand new, super helpful information and not something they already stated four times.

  • @icemaiden9534
    @icemaiden9534 9 місяців тому +8

    they way the script was done (cause anyone can write a script and TTs bot or AI read it) and what the person thinks a glow up is in my opinion puts them firmly in the 15-19 year old catagory, possibly a little bit older but not by much.

I have some friends who are 13-16 who do have really complex skin care routines and do their makeup and stuff, while i do not. It depends on the person and what they want.

  • @jocelynecupcake

    I agree, anti aging products should not be used by 13-18 year olds, especially not at 13 or 14. Like, many kids are still growing (not everyone tho). However, if you do use makeup you need a good cleanser that can remove it entirely. I also used and still use a lot of lip balms to make my lips softer and not as dry, so that I could wear lipstick and not have dry lips. I wasn't trying to look younger, I was just trying to make my skin and lips less dry

    Girls mature faster than boys for the most part. At 13 my lack of interest in makeup and looking put together was definitely abnormal. When I was that age all we really had was genuinely harmful very not age friendly content to sneak from our sisters and google in secret. I think this channel is great. That video pretty well summed up some of the most important personal care information that I admittedly didn't have down until 25. I wish this existed for me but i'm glad it exists now.

    At 11 years old I knew a girl my age who was constantly applying anti-wrinke skin care products meant for like 50+ year old women because she didn't want to get wrinkles... I'm 25 now, I wonder how she is doing and if she is still obsessed with getting her skin as flawless as possible.

    easiest way to find your skin type: wash your face with a simple cleanser pat dry and dont apply anything else: flaky buts = dry skin shiny+ oily both= combo
    also ALWAYS wear sunscreen even if your indoors you have windows where sunlight comes in you need suncreen
    and anyone under 16 you dont need anything other then a simple cleanser sunscreen and lotion. anything else is unnecessary for your young skin.

    I think these are decent advices, though I would not recommend girls under 16 to wear a full face of makeup, it messes with your self image. And I wish I knew how to care for my skin properly at 13 and got good products, my skin is combined (oily + dry) and my acne back then was terrible. I used cheap aggressive skincare products that didn't help and probably made things even worse. So I would really recommend young girls to see some trustful dermatologists' skincare tips online if you have any issues with your skin

    Although he’s right to an extent, I feel like Joinen was just trying to find something wrong with a video that’s completely normal but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with teenagers wanting to look better
    They said kids in the vids to make it seem worst than it is but it’s not just kids it’s teenagers but the fact that it can be a 10 year old to 12 year old does seem kinda weird bc those are actually kids, teens are often insecure in school and going through puberty
    But maybe I’m just saying that bc I’m 14

    Showering with body wash daily is actually horrible for your skin. Though moisturizer is a great tip.

      But we at least need to wash our pits and naughty bits daily, to prevent odours and infections!😅
