Speaking as a Capuchin Franciscan since 1976 and a priest friar since 1983 all I can say is that you are great and are doing great work. I especially related to your closing comments as they mirrored my own experience that all these years later reinforce my Franciscan vocation
As always, I am filled with respect and admiration for you. You are so articulate, so devoted to your calling, so engaging and able to relate to people of different ages and backgrounds. You are very charismatic and it is inspiring that you chose to devote that gift to God.
Brother Casey, did you almost swear at 0:20? >.< :P hahaha... Bless you for enduring such a gruelling week with a smile on your face and a heart of thanksgiving and praise to God! :) I enjoyed this insightful video :)
No, believe it or not. It was just still 6 something in the morning and 17 degrees so my brain wasn't working and I forgot the word for wallet. Haha. I figured it out though!
Hi Brother Casey. I am in Derry City in Northern Ireland. I know it is not up to me, but I have a feeling you would be a great guest speaker at one of our novenas held in our Catholic parishes in the city. There is one devoted to Saint Therese of Lisieux, lasting nine days in May in our cathedral and one lasting the nine Sundays leading up to Christmas in our historic Long Tower Church of Saint Columba. Maybe sometime in the future you could make it here and speak to us, I have a feeling your talk would be most welcome.
What a blessing it is to serve Christ and his church. I just spent a week at the retreat house in Wappenger Falls at Mt Alvernia. The brothers there OFM were so awesome. What a calling you have received. Prayers always.Br. Larry Walter Reich BSG
Today in Mass, we were called to pray for the people that gave their lives to serve God and Christ. At this moment, I prayed for you. As I am reconnecting with my faith, this channel has been important for me to understand the faith and the church, but also to connect with God. I pray that you'll be able to continue this great work and impact many more.
I'm glad when I was an Elder\Bishop I never had to wear anything like those. Last time I preached was a youth event and I had youths very interested in learning more. I remember that day I spoke at a college in Menifee, then the youth event at First Baptist Church San Jacinto.
Great video Brother Casey! I have a question though. I have noticed that there are plenty of priest and religious men who have youtube channels, but little to no nuns or religious women with youtube channels. Do you know of any nuns who have an active youtube channel to recommend? Or is it harder for nuns to have an active social media life on the internet? I love your videos they have been helping me to discern my vocation. God bless you!
One order is the Daughters of St. Paul (a.k.a. the "Media Nuns") -- they're also on instagram, facebook, twitter, and youtube: ua-cam.com/video/urH216BJy5U/v-deo.html
Rachel M. Hi. I dont know if it helps but im currently a (female) postulant and in the months before joining my community I had a youtube channel called anglicansisterjourney which documented my transition from my normal life to religious life. All the videos i made are still on youtube. Iv been told by my community that perhaps in the future I might be able to make more videos from 'within' religious life. X
At 16:50 you meet with the brothers in Cincinnati. Most if not all are wearing plaid, apparently flannel, shirts. I just wondered if it was a thing. Apparently not.
Wow! Didn't know we had designated and trained extraordinary ministers of communion in the Catholic church except Priests and reverend sisters. She looked like an ordinary lay person to me especially 'cause of what she was wearing.
Great video! By the way, a future video idea -- addressing the issue of purgatory. Can people avoid it? And is there such a thing as "Purgatory on Earth" (i.e. sufferings here which are a form of purgatory)?
Great video. I too do not know how you do all that you do. I myself felt many times over my life a call of the religious life but always figured I would be kicked out for being a gay man. I am 54 now. starting yet another career of becoming a social worker.
Hi John, thanks for your comment. It is definitely a sad state that has happened before, but it is not universal. We Franciscans have always recognized a vocation, regardless of one's sexuality.
Even though it was a wonderful week for you and those whom you got to meet/evangelize, I bet there were a few moments when you might have wished that Christ had called you to the Benedictine life of stability. I know I would be thinking that at times.
Barry Harlan some might think that, but not me! It was crazy, but I’m also never happier than when I’m in these situations. This is what I’m called to do!
Most surely. I thank you for taking on the challenge of the ministry to which you have been called. For myself, I have felt more of a pull to a more contemplative lifestyle.
Taking so much not serious videos about your activities. Would St. Francis do the same? Would he make an advertisment of himself instead of the Church?
Oh, well I'm sorry that you see what I'm doing as about me. That's really unfortunate, because it is not my intention. Everything I do is to promote Christ and his Church. Maybe the problem is that you simply prefer "serious" videos, as you say. Videos like this are an important part of my ministry, not because they are about me, but because they help reveal part of the life I live, the joy of being in the Church, and to get people excited about faith. Not everything has to be serious in presentation to accomplish some serious things. Sometimes a fun video does more to help someone's faith because it helps them trust someone in the Church or inspires them to want to learn more.
I'm sorry that you find this egotistical, but I think St. Francis would evangelize in the popular means of the day. Don't you? Just because I'm the subject telling the story doesn't make something egotistical.

You should be so proud of yourself, your work is magnificent and you are truly manifesting God's love. Thank you!
Loved this video! Continuing to pray for you Brother Casey!

I laughed my head off when you doffed your habit and filmed your nap. Casey you are a trip! (as we 70’s folk used to say)

Thanks
I hope you visit the Solanus Casey Center one day.
So do all friars wear flannel shirts when they're not wearing a habit, or is that an over-generalization?
Doug Krantz haha I’m not sure what you mean... I’m not sure if I even own one, so my guess is no!
At 16:50 you meet with the brothers in Cincinnati. Most if not all are wearing plaid, apparently flannel, shirts. I just wondered if it was a thing. Apparently not.
The transitions were great
this guy is a great monk and also very delightful
5:49. Is that a random woman giving holy communion?
A "random woman"? It's a designated and trained extraordinary minister of communion.
Wow! Didn't know we had designated and trained extraordinary ministers of communion in the Catholic church except Priests and reverend sisters. She looked like an ordinary lay person to me especially 'cause of what she was wearing.
I believe so, Fr Casey. I believe so.
You are a REAL FRANCISCAN !!!!!

Franciscans
Knights of Columbus Support All priests and Brothers and Deacons Kofc
And Religious orders of men
"Evening came and Morning followed." Just like Genesis 1!! If Jesus had sneakers he would've never went back to sandals. LOL
I will never complain about doing 3 masses in a weekend again.
Evening came and morning followed...
Now we know why God "invented" the Seven-Day-Week. LOL!
God created you to do amazing things! Ephesian 2:10, you are an image of Lord Jesus!! Pray for me and my son Father!!
nice editing!

Hello Brother Casey. I want to offer my talent and help you with your mission. Could I shoot you an e-mail and tell you what I could offer in detail?
Why don't you message me on Facebook: facebook.com/CaseyOFM
For reals, if you're a catholic, Christians like that Jesus loves you no matter what
Why don't you stop showing off and keep learning gospel ?
Giorgi Germanozashvili what do you mean by “showing off?”

I think he is evangelise
Would St. Francis make videos about himself? A little too much ego, sorry.
