NOw , Now some truly good tutorial on grease pencil. I have been struggling for this image and video thing in background for months now, it was really very helpfull
great video. quick question: every time i try to zoom using my trackpad the camera angle moves and the background video is disappears. any tips on locking the camera so i don’t have to use the manual zoom and move tools?
You can reset the camera using the numpad keys, not sure if that's what you were asking! You could also possibly change your keypath for the zoom so it would be something else instead of the trackpad...?
What if I need to draw over not the entire video but over some parts of it and thus have to cut them out? I'm sure I can cut it from blender without editing video externally but struggle with it, the reference video is not in the dope sheet.
What are the white dots in the summary and the stroke line. Why were they there before the video was imported, and how come they don't appear on anything I import?
@@cresshead Terrific. Thanks. Other software that allows 2d animation breaks things down frame by frame. How does one do that with Blender/Grease Pencil?
hello sorry im new to blender but was wondering is it possible to combine 2d rotoscoping over a 3d tracked scene with some bject cut out? so for instance if i were to use this clip but say camera rotate around the bird, i would cut out the bird and it'll save the camera movement along with the bird, so i dont have to use greenscreen method?
*using blender to mask a video in Vegas Pro by overlaying an animated paint blob of an object I want to isolate because it is much faster than drawing Bezier curves in the default crop/panning interface.*
hey, cresshead i want to ask how to add a video background in 2d animation which can be seen in the rendering out put. i want the background video i add to be seen the the final render 2d animation video
Update: It is there, it just acts incorrectly while working with the 2D Animation tab. You just have to add the Layout tab, and Camera properties will be accessible from there.
gp to camera , images, background source if you pause the video at 1.12 and look on the right hand rollout on the screen you see a blue button labled "movie c" which is movie clip .. where you can load up a movie
i think pink means you have added the idea of a video without actually pointing to the file on your hard drive, same with textures when you add say a hdri you then need to point to it as a file. it also maybe the codec on the video you have may not be supported via blender if you have pointed to the file. try a different video to check.
Download a video editor and put the audio of the video on top of your animation. I recommend you use video editor opencut. its free, non-laggy and extremely simple to use. I hope I helped you.
You have no idea how much I searched for it, I watched super complicated tutorials and you brought a much simpler and faster solution. Thanks!
Glad I could help!

That was a GREAT technic!!1 Love it!
Glad you liked it!
thank you man you just save me a lot of time to find out where can i find camera in grease pencil
just wish I could get the video from video editor, it would make life so much easier.
Bro thank you so much for this
Thank you very much!!!
Sign the petition to change the name to Blendor!
I'm importing a 12fps video but blender seems to speed it up by 2x. Is there anyway to get around this?
change blenders frame rate in preferences
great video.
quick question: every time i try to zoom using my trackpad the camera angle moves and the background video is disappears.
any tips on locking the camera so i don’t have to use the manual zoom and move tools?

they are keyframess generated by me in the rotoscoping.. on the timeline.

can u export the background video with the 2d animation? ive tried but all that was rendered out was the animation, without the video
Whenever i change opacity by even a tiny bit, whole video goes full white? Can u help?
Thx I love you
can i set the start point of the video on any fram i want not just 0?
nothing shows up when i put the video over??? how can i fix that?
could be the video codec is not supported in your file, i use .mp4 or mov
Add the mp4 video as image instead of movie clip, it works
@@Gabriel-cg1kv thank-you, spent an hr trying to figure out why it wouldnt work.
I found out that Camera tab is now absent in Blender 2.83 and higher. Do anyone have a blend file for this setup?

its not working on latest update
could be they made changes to how blender works.. there's been quite a few updates since the video was made in feb 2020.
for some reason my video clips do not appear.
Help me please i do everything but the video clip wont apear
you have to use an supported codec for the video mp4 is ok

How come when I add movie clip my movie doesn’t pop up ? It’s an mp4 clip and I know I have the eye icon open at the top right
