      The one with water and vinegar or the vacuum ?...I hope you have the chance to let me know... Thanks

    This is an informative video. I was able to store limes in my fridge for 3 months before making them into lime juice. At least I'll be able to sell in colder months when limes are scarce. This helped, thanks.

    The system of soaking in a gallon of water and cup of vinegar would work for all your produce. I usually fill up my sink with water and add a cup of vinegar let it set about 20 minutes. Remove from the water let it air dry and store in a ziplock in fridge. Your tomatoes, grapes, lettuce, cucumbers and so on. It’s pretty amazing that how much longer your produce will last in your fridge

    Put the items in the zip lock bag, slide the zipper almost all the way closed, insert a drinking straw in the opening and press the zipper as close to the straw as possible and then proceed to suck the air out. Pull the straw out of the bag and quickly close the zipper as quickly as possible. Voila!

    Very smart! Limes are spoiled by mold. When you soak them in vinegar and then thouroughly wipe them, you get rid of most molds and create a low pH (hostile) surface for any remaining mold spores. All mold are aeorobic therefore it is very smart store lime in an environment with reduced levels of oxygen.

      I used aluminum foil and wrap my fruits and veggies before storing them in the fridge/veggies drawers they will last up to 3-4weeks crisp and fresh. The aluminum foil traps the ethylene gas that releases from the produce and it will slow down the ripening process.

    If you don't have a vacuum to suck out the air, do the following: Put the items inside the plastic zip lock bag. Submerge about one-fourth of the bag in water to displace some of the air. Partially seal the bag but leave a tiny opening just small enough to insert a drinking straw. With your mouth, suck out the excess air through the straw then carefully fully zip the bag closed.

    thanks 4 the tip. Never mind the silly comments below, some people spend their time being rude & critical. ( Can't think past the post.) What kind of grade level does one have to have to know that if just 1 lime is required, then take out 1. How much thinking does that require? Duh!

    I picked some lemon from a neighbor’s tree, used my lemon squeezer, transferred in a bottle and freezed it, should you need it, thaw the bottle in water and refreeze, no waste...😉😉😉🇺🇸🇵🇭

      Hi Misty Rose, Thanks for your comment :) Freezing lemon juice is other way to preserve lime or lemon juice in the freezer as per my other video here : ua-cam.com/video/NqY8_TQCfIY/v-deo.html

    • @قلبفضلاللهوبرحمتهفبذلكفليفرحوا

      But this way you loose the vitamin and mineral content of the lemon or lime . .

      Misty Rose...That only addresses how to treat the lime juices but doesn't take into account if you want to preserve the lime zest for cooking or baking. I like the idea of preserving the whole fruit in a vacuum seal bag.

    Thanks for this video. So both methods are to store in the fridge, not freezer. Use a freezer or vacuum sealed bag but the super tight one last longer than the other?

    Best tip is just buy what you would need for a week or two, it’s cost and time effective! No need to turn your refrigerator into a lime warehouse.

      As noted they aren't available all year long. More than that the quality of what's available tends to decrease as their season ends. I've often found it difficult to even find one that's usable at a certain point and they get more expensive. Go figure. So I very much appreciate these tips.

    I use white & apple cider vinegar for fruits & meats before vacuum sealing. Just did some meats & veggies..to freezer I go. I have the clothes bags too, but have 2 regular vacuum sealers. If I had a case of lemons/limes may try the clothes bags.

    Another simple trick is just to put the fruit in the same colour bag as the fruit or veg you are looking to preserve and store them in the fridge. My dad does this all the time, and he is very mean with his bags. It won't last forever, but last longer. Anyway tomatoes in red, lemons in yellow, limes in green..etc. Here is a thought, vacuum the limes in a clear bag, then place them in another green bag??

    • @ezy2Learn
      @ezy2Learn  5 років тому

      I will try that trick

    After opening the bag how many days the lemon will be in good condition?

    • @ezy2Learn
      @ezy2Learn  5 років тому +4

      I personally open the bag once every 10 days and take out lemons that will last for 10 days. Just remember it is all about the original condition of lemons before you store them. If you are going to store soft lemons, then don't expect them to last long. I only use freshly picked hard limes or lemons.
