  • I took a punt on this bass because I read good reviews about it and I fancied a natural swamp ash jazz bass. The bass is phenomenal. The quality and finish is on a par with MIA Fenders. I thought the pups are bound to be awful - wrong, they are very good. It was meant to be my back up, now it's my main bass. I recorded this short sound demo to show you what it sounds like. No effects. I kept the tone at 50%.

    This is a fantastic bass!! The tone and quality can compare to Some MIM or Squier VM.. the name on the headstock doesnt really matter.

    I have one SX, model sjb75 (based on 70s Fender). They really honest instrument. If you change the pickups It will an amazing bass for nice price. I wrote an e-mail to SX qnd they said me this bass was in Ash (body) and canadian maple (neck).
    Abraço do Brasil! 👊🏼🇧🇷

    Mine comes with a badass bridge. I can't loose more the saddles cause they touch the ground, but i want a lower action. I've also adjust the truss rod but the playing hasn't confortable, sometimes...maybe 'cause the neck is chunky?

    • @bassatisfaction
      @bassatisfaction  4 роки тому

      Thanks for comment. In this case I would shim the neck, not difficult, loosen strings, remove bolts and neck out of pocket, add a bit of business card deep in the pocket to change angle of neck. Then have low action :-)

    Hello, i am really thinking of buying this bass ! However i have never owned or playd a bass before so i dont know anything about the technical specifications of the intrument, on your video it sounds great, however i wish to know is this a beginner instrument ? or semi professional or intermediate? does it stay in tune ? how heavy it is ? Is the neck comfortable ? is it thick or thin ? and most importantly are the sharp frets on the neck sticking out?

    • @bassatisfaction
      @bassatisfaction  5 років тому +1

      Hi, it's only the name on the headstock that stops it being a pro instrument, it's as good as my MIM Jazz, it's an anybody instrument :-) Holds perfect tune, no sharp ends, lovely modern C neck, neither thick or thin. However, weighs 10.1 lbs, so not so light, it's also a very big bass. Great quality though.

      @@bassatisfaction Thank you for your quick response Mr Edwards, then its most likely settled i think i will order this one then, i love its tone and mostly its vintage oldschool look,they simply look beautiful and elegant. I had to choose between this or a semi used almost brand new Yamaha TRBX 305 if you know the modell active bass sounds great but this one being passive is more convenient for me since i dont have to worry about the battery failing on me or having forgotten to change it , since i tend to forget things from time to time, the guy would have sold me the Yamaha for the same price as this one, but anyway i will order this beauty. And lets hope that the courrier boys will be gentle with it so that i will recieve it in good condition. Thank you very much again, and keep the good music rolling sir you do great demo videos.

      @@jodimiklos204 you can use preamp pedal if you want some active tone. Its more convenient bcoz you can use it to another bass..

      @@bassatisfaction yes sir, its only the headstock..i love the tone and quality of this SX bass. Really can compare to some MIM or Squier VM.

      @@rafender07 - I got a sansamp clone which was ok but noisy. Then a Zoom B1fourX which is plain awesome
      My SX is a fretless conversion - only troubles are nut was probably cut a bit too low, little bit of excess noise if volumes on the PU are not matched but also depends on orientation to amp and bridge was poorly shielded.
      I made a YT on how to fix bridge - this video has reminded me to buy another nut and get an SX fretted for slap. I was holding our for a Sire bass. They are hard to get with the Corona. And you point about the pedal reminded me I don't really need the Sire preamp - thanks.

    what should i buy squire made in china sx jazz bass or ibanez sr300e?

    • @bassatisfaction
      @bassatisfaction  3 роки тому

      Not played that Ibby, but this SX was better quality and sound than the two Squier jazzes I previously owned. That Ibby has humbuckers, different tone to single coil, fatter and darker, jazz basses are bright and clean sounding.
