      I guess it is the politically correct way of saying it burnt. I was expecting "thermally damaged" to be something was melted, not rendered into charcoal and ash.

      Probably some of it was thrown up by the det, plus it became a giant chimney so all the dust on the ground can be funneled up and out

      Blades were damaged, top of the tower was compromised, likely burning oil and debris fell inside the tower damaging load wires and cables. Replacing the entire structure, would be cheaper than the added man-hours to repair.

    I love the hang time until you can see the motion accelerating. Seems like a number of wind turbines fail prematurely for different reasons. Thanks to Loizeaux for sharing these clips !

    There’s going to be a lot more of those hitting the ground in the future. Especially old technology from 20 years ago. CDI the best in the business.

      Yes, 20 years life time. The first generation machines are all coming out of service hours and due to technology changes are scrap. I hope the cost of removal and dumping gets factored into the 'green' equation.

      Well, they can't ask the other generators to leave the area...but they can reduce the very slim chance of any damaging debris by stopping them....
