Ahhh the joy of climb assistance. Never once had the joy of that modern marvel. The joy of having to climb a cold tower with no light and just yourself for all of the gear.
Hi Tim, it would be great if you wrote down everything you do. You stood up, laid out your tools and repair kit. But for what? What did you repair or service there?
We have a bunch of 2.3 and 2.8 turbines on our ranch and I like to be able to climb one just once😂 do you have any videos of replacing the lights on the top?
Ohh, yeah. Or while you are up tower and your gut tells you it is time to get rid of the mystery meat dinner from the night before...... ohh the memories.
I once climbed a 120ft water tower when I was a teenager. You don’t know what fear is until lactic acid starts building up in your muscles, 100ft in the air, with nowhere to relax. I’m lucky to be alive after that, and I was a 150lb teenager that could easily do 10 pull-up’s.
@@joseortega364it won’t happen if you pace yourself because you can rest on the tower wall and on each deck. we have a lot of fat fucks in the field that haven’t had that happen. only thing holding you back is you

@@MarioisawesomeXD yes, you are mostly correct, I think 80-150 is a little more average, I’ve heard of site tech’s making $50,000 all the way up to $110,000 plus 10-15% yearly bonuses. Then on the other end, heavy traveling which sometimes isn’t so heavy you can bring in that 160k with 150 per diem with $40+ hourly plus overtime for a more skilled individual. But don’t forget with that per diem being untaxed its more so compared to a 200k salary if you can work all year without more than a month or so of bench time.
@@MarioisawesomeXD Pattern energy, Nextera averages about $75k/yr, I personally wouldn’t take a site tech job for under 100k/yr and I’ve had the offers. Only reason I wouldn’t take it is because it’s hard to leave that per diem.
Can you imagine if Amazon sent the wrong part in that box, and you had to just climb back down? 😂
All them ladders reminded me of when i used to climb Brisbanes gabba light towers to inspect to hoist and top pulleys

Is the vertical part of the turbine fiberglass or metal?
Fiber glass
The tower(vertical part)is made of steel and the blades are made of mainly fiber glass

How often does a tech find himself outside the top nacelle?? Or hanging in general?
Rarely ever there’s not a lot of task you need to do there. Also depends on your job role but a regular tech rarely goes out
Wouldn’t that suck to get all the way up there and figure out the warehouse sent you the wrong repair part.
Happens haha

Bro imagine being in there and the engine catches fire… how do you get down?
Many companies have self rescue kits to descend the tower quickly.
You go down the ladder OR the outside "emergency rescue decent kit".
Ape Escape or r550
Turbine fires are pretty rare though
The cool companies have elevators....
Do you feel it sway? I’m just wondering
yes
