Oh I knew exactly what happened with “Judah” as soon as a little girl was involved. Too many times it’s happened. I’m female, though, so you didn’t catch up on it.
The story of your father and the fish almost made me shed a tear... because of the fact that you're not just playing the game, but showing us pieces of yourself. My father used to take my siblings and I crabbing. It just hit that soft spot.. 🤧
$85 in 1969 would be worth over $650 today. Definitely a "going to be a huge setback if I don't get this money" amount of money.

Nah, the value of a dollar has dropped so much and wages have been stagnant for decades. Young people are just getting scammed by the system they live in. Boomers have no idea how much better they had it than us.
There’s another game I think you’d rlly enjoy. It’s called Rakuen. It’s a rlly heartfelt game focusing on a little boy in a hospital and his mother. It has some fantastical elements and is def a tear jerker but also just a rlly cozy and sweet experience supported by a beautiful soundtrack. It has a rlly lovely art style too!
This has come up a couple times and i'm definitely interested!
As someone who hasn't had a good experience with my parents, stories like this and My child Lebensborn always get me in the feels. Thank you for playing such beautiful, heartfelt games!

Your absolute horror at Mitch answering "confidently" made me laugh so hard pfft! Father's Judah's comeuppance was so satisfying, usually games don't give you that. As someone who is absolutely terrified of bugs, fireflies are usually chill and don't bother ppl in general. Onto the second part, woo!
Yk growing up a mixed child I’m glad my black father stayed even when my mom left. My mommas whole family disowned me and my brothers. Most kids will never understand what it’s like to be rejected from your own family
Oh, you must not fully understand what happens in the black "community" with the majority of these children tat are being disowned by these single "mothers" who are only after the welfare benefits from the government to be able to survive. The incident in Chicago this past weekend of all of those black teens converged downtown wreaking havoc, where were their "parent(s)" and why wasn't they charged for their children behavior. Instead, the city of Chicago just put a "band-aid" on these issues by creating another city ordinance for teens, blaming only the teens, and not fixing the problems. This video game just shows the truth of how these female individuals uses their reproductive organs recklessly and then become a "victim" of society because she chose to be a single mother while placing the entire blame on the man. Now, I know that this was in the 1960's which why the single mother rate was low vs. in 2022 when females have 31+ different types of birth control and Plan B's. Females back in the day knew the risk and were disciplined. Now look at them today.

Fireflies are actually one of the only upsides to summer for me. They almost float around at night and it’s almost magical to see them blinking in and out.

Fireflies are pretty chill and not annoying. Usually don't even see a trace until dusk and then it's just soft little random on and off. They have a kind of ladybug attitude because they will hang out and fly from your hand. Summertime memories☺ Interested in seeing how Mitch ends up, cause mom's a bear..good story
wow this literally pulled a memory from the back of my head of being at summer camp. standing in the field, smelling the wet grass and watching all the fireflies, trying to catch one 🥺🥺🥺🥺
Former Catholic here. Part of why I left is because of people like Father Judd here being protected by the organization. I don't personally know anyone who has talked about being impacted but the idea that someone could get away with that never sat well with me. Seeing what went down here made me grin so much.
But who forced you in that religion? Who neglected their responsibility on protecting you as a child and handed their responsibility to a stranger?
@@spankbuda5760some people put religion and the people as the same when they are very different in their choices and action’s I’m not religious but I do know people don’t always practice what they preach. And that makes people further away from their religion and God wouldn’t like that of those people.
I just realized I put those people of those who left their religion because of corrupt people in the religion but I meant it for those make people leave for their own selfish selves
Getting to see Fireflies/lightning bugs is an extraordinary experience. They’re very gentle and it’s so funny to watch them meander and fade in and out of the dark. Living in the south gives way to hellish weather with a mind of its own and some unsavory characters with bigotry for a middle name. But, it also brings about a lazy night filled with soft laughter from friends and the soft glow of a lightning bug as well as soft mornings filled with birds and the sun peaking over the trees.

Such a good game though. I'm always on edge when it shifts into flashbacks. The atmosphere and storytelling is great.
51:36 so small you wouldn't see their tiny bug bodies nor hear them, only flickering lights flying around. 51:44 yes, they're just as majestic and magical looking in real life like in the movies.
Fireflies tend to run away from people. It's hard to run towards a cloud of them to try to catch them because they're so cautious and quick. They're not like other bugs which are so disrespectful that they smack into you. When you do manage to snag a firefly, it's so terrified that it refuses to glow until in your confusion you let it go from your hand and it resumes glowing again, which also makes it tricky to catch them in the first place -- they refuse to glow on approach, and it's so dark outside that they're invisible. I never tried imprisoning them in a jar, so maybe that's the trick to convince them to keep lit up. Cute bugs. Definitely as magical to try to catch them as it is helping fireworks get set off.
You had a different experince than me. I once visit family in Poland up in the mountains and saw a bunch of fireflies roaming around my spot where I was sitting. One firefly landed in my hand and it did glow as it was sitting there in my palm. Maybe you are just big and scary! LOL
@@moonytoon1979 Polish mountain fireflies are made of sterner stuff than NY swamp fireflies, I suppose! We do have a lot of frogs and birds, skittishness would pay dividends for survival.
I'm from alabama . We used to have tons. We might still do, I used to live in the country, now I'm in the city n never see them. They are gental n I have had so many land on me n still light up. I read once that they have only one mate. And they talk to each other through there light. One night, was one trapped in house by the window n there was one on the outside n they were (2 me anyways) talking to each other through the glass. I cried because I was sure convinced they were soul mates n needed to be with each other. So I had help catching the one inside n letting it out to be with its mate on the other side. I miss the country:.(
My favorite part was when father judah got what he deserved, it's a fantasy to do that to the person who did those things to me

I can already tell this game is gonna make me cry and I'm not ready! ALSO, I can't believe that people grow up without experiencing what's like to catch and watch fireflies. It is really magical, and they usually avoid people so they aren't bothersome. I don't really like bugs but fireflies are one of the few bugs that don't irk me. They are so fun and a lil cute in my opinion

Fireflies are one of those insect exceptions. Like butterflies or ladybugs. They’re magical, calming. They don’t run into you or anything. They just kind of float slowly. It makes me think of when I visited my grandma in Nebraska 🌠

just want to say that Luke 15:11 passage read at the dinner table was such a backhand toward Louise... effecting being used to comment about her life before she finally "came home".... and the interpretation of the prodigal son as "family is important" can be an application gleaned but it is not even close to the actual point of the parable.

Fireflies are sweet, like on of the sweetest least annoying insects. I wish there were more, and sometimes, in the dark night, they are a beautiful sight. Sometimes they flicker in and out of the tall grass. You won't have magical music playing, but usually you'll hear crickets and frogs as they float about, blinking in and out of existence. Catching them is the best, they crawl on your fingers and just relax. Unfortunately my uncle told me when they were young they'd crush them, and make their hands glow with their... Juices... Some boys here are barbaric, but otherwise they are beautiful, just gotta release them once you're done playing, don't wanna hurt them

Edit: god I feel so bad for his mom, and for him. Even if they aren't real characters. I like how they show assault not always taken seriously (or just the trauma part alone) and racism. I may have honestly cried from it, but seeing how life may have been then (and still to this day, in a way) can be eye opening. So far seems like an amazing game! Looking forward to the rest of it.

Fireflies are just as magical and amazing as they seem, I remember as a kid they would land on the back of my hand if I held my hand out, But they never really annoyed me not that I remember anyway. I also haven't seen them in nearly 6 years though. 🔥🦋
Another lovely upload! Can't wait for part 2. Fireflies are so ethereal and magical! I'm originally from Southern California and maybe with all the light pollution, I had never seen them. But went to undergrad in the Midwest and oh my gosh, it was so cool! As the sun sets, you begin to notice slight twinkles of light around you --- it gets more pronounced as the night settles in. Hard to describe, but just, so cool. I hope you get to experience it some day!

I'm not a huge fan of fireflies either (or lightning bugs as we sometimes call them lol). But thankfully they like to keep their distance and look really pretty! I actually remember catching a few in a jar one time to use as a night light in my room when I was younger.

We get fireflies, and yes, they are gorgeous creatures, they typically stray away from people so they won't really land on you, but they're also very slow so they're easy to catch. They're pretty. One of the best parts is when you cup your hands around them and light will come from the gaps in your fingers. I love bugs so all this might just be me, but I think they're so magical.

I hate bugs but fireflies are beautiful. I grew up in NC and in the summer there were fireflies in our yard all the time. They are in fact as magical as they look in movies.

Finished my playthrough of this yesterday and even though I liked it, it did feel a lil rushed towards the end, that and Louise's voice actor lacked empathy in their voice sometimes too. Didn't make me as emotional as I thought it would.
