I'll be honest, when I first saw blacksad's face i was ready to run, but now I'm so invested, like what? 😭
As clunky and kinda "jittery" this game is I am absolutely adoring the style and voice acting. I'm pretty sure with some more polish this game could be a cult classic.
Only one minute and 40 seconds into the video and already getting massive The Wolf Among Us vibes. You play as Bigby Wolf (Aka, the big bad wolf from Little Red Riding Hood and the Three Little Pigs) who is the Sheriff of the community of Fables (aka the fairy tale characters). He is also, because of this, essentially a detective. One of the first scenes in the game, he goes and fights the Woodsman (who cuts the Big Bad Wolf's stomach open in the original Little Red Riding Hood story). You hit him really hard on the jaw and he says "You broke my jaw! You bastard!" Already this Rhino character is giving me huntsman vibes and the cat guy is nonchalant like Bigby.
Definitely similar in spots, full playthrough of The Wolf Among Us just went up on the channel last week!
It's film noir. They both pull from film noir.
I finished this game a few months ago and loved the storyline. Blacksad is a cool cat. I really want to read the comics.
It's so good! The story gets better and better. I was really surprised cos the reviews aren't great, I expected to play it once and ditch it but I fell in love with it.
I've always loved the aesthetics of this era. Really cool watching it played out.
I read the comic that was the source for this, it was really good. The authors are Spanish, aiming at the French market. Hmm. It was, as said, a really good comic, with undertones of Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett, two really great writers of noir mysteries. Only 5 minutes in, and this game seems really true to its source.
HER BOSS WAS HEARING THE CONVO IN THE BACK THATS WHY SHE SAID SHE LOVES IT. -.- duh and this game its a simply a mix of BACKBONE AND SHERLOCK H. GAME. i love it.
this game gives me The Defenders saga vibes. the boxing place, some names, the location, and it's also detective theme. I like
Watching this and Backbone in the last few days really has me itching to write a noir/hardboiled detective story.
This game gives me nostalgia for the old point and click games that I used to play with my dad

I havent seen anyone else say it so I'll comment it--The..woman..who Dunn was going to marry. She is considered an Octoroon which was a term given to a white woman with one black great grandparent. They were sought after a lot as uhm "ladies of the night" For reasons I won't go into. The racial undertones in this game are actually done very well. Can't wait to finish off the videos on it

I just found your channel but I'm having a hard time with the last couple videos... This one with investigating the unaliving of ones self and the one before was Before Your Eyes... And I very unexpectedly lost my 13 year old little over a year ago. Before Your Eyes killed me. I watched it later because I couldn't sleep, wound up sobbing hysterically at 2:30 in the morning.... No idea how everyone else in the house managed to sleep through it, even the person literally asleep next to me 😅 a warning would have been nice but I understand the desire to keep that twist twisty. Emotional trauma or not, it was one hell of a game

This is great - very chill but funny at the same time. Instant sub and bell. The game is the best since Wolf Among Us, of it's kind. I'm looking forward to check out your other play throughs. First, to binge watch this series. I can't believe I haven't seen it on any other channels yet. Cheers

Lots of places! I try to keep an eye on everything that is coming out and go back and find hidden gems so I can either play them or recommend them to people on TikTok / Insta!
This game was good but damn it was buggy
Oh I don't think I ran into any memorable bugs this playthrough, I may have forgotten but I really liked it

So the characters are aware that they are animals but they also have races like black and white? How can they tell if someone is black if they are animals? lol I'll be thinking about this for awhile XD love the game so far though

why did they go with animals? usually animals are used as stand in-s for people to remove race from the equation, or for some sort of symbolism. but this was neither. i feel like i would have liked this better if its was a full allegory (not literally black/white relations) or if the characters were human.
I agree, there is no point in using animals for characters if it’s about race. Should be like a species discrimination if anything. That would be more fitting but this is off putting.

@@CeeAyeDee92 It's not just gorillas. It's any animal with black for a majority of their fur or skin. Bobby Yale (The boxer dog) is also described as black.
madmorph usually: pretty intelligent, maybe did some college or something, has some commentary on a lot of things that reveal hints and glimpses of a thoughtful personality

sir (or ma'am or whatever pronouns you use, idk if you've ever explicitly stated), that is NOT the kind of title that feminism books usually have 🤣 I would bet money that it was meant as quite the opposite, signaling a home ruled by an oppressively authoritative patriarch who required his spouse to exude a specific 'feminine ideal' at all times.
If you want to get into the meat and potatoes of what that would mean in the game's context, I recommend "The Will To Change: Men, Masculinity, and Love" by bell hooks -- unlike what the title suggests, it's actually very PRO-man, lol, it's not the radical second-wave feminism that just wanted to flip patriarchal structures into matriarchal ones😂it speaks to **everyone** about how to change individual behaviors and thought patterns to effect change on a cultural scale and create a world that's actually just nicer to live in all round. And if you *don't* care about the meaning of any of that, then that's also acceptable 🤷♀
