My great grandmother was born in 1875 (died in 1975) and lived to see her great-great grandson (my son) who was born in 1972. She lived during a time in history where everyone used a horse and buggy to get around, through the invention of the automobile and saw a man land on the moon. What a time to experience.
My great grandmother lived to the age of 98. She also experienced the same history as your great grandmother, horse and buggy to the moon landing. She saw it all.
I have been here 75 years. Often think about I am holding cell phone remenber when my grandmother Got phone service in 1950's not living in major city only party lines avaiable. Being ftom Beach city cslif. Ee had phone service all my memory and t.b. but so many did not have t.v. in 50"s😊 Wonder hiw far is this going with phones ? Inplanted next?
Bill Cullen nervously at 7:10 "Please say you did, because the way things are now...". What a great line in light of the half dozen fixed game show scandals that had come to light, including convening of grand juries and Congressional hearings over the preceding 18 months.
People would collect dried cow patties to use in their fireplaces, wood burning stoves, campfires when they had no wood to burn for cooking purposes, or to merely keep warm.
The old gentleman that been at the same job for 75 yrs. was amazing. Covering the San Francisco earthquake .wow Not many people do that now. They want a job for a week or two, then their off to another. These older people are usually a dedicated bunch of people, and had strong work ethics. Some of the stunts they pulled on the shows were so funny. Bringing in a cow poop ing on the stage was hilarious and animals , like that canyon horse and dog on a previous show was great. Thanks for the memories.
Thank you for these old shows. Love the Navy guy. My Uncle was on the USS ORVETTA as a cook , He could cook better than a woman. This made me think of him. He served all that time in the service, only to come home and die in a plane crash. Sad
I watched a few of these. Betsy Palmer looks so cute and innocent and adorable. I wondered what she was in, and what she was famous for. So I googled. And so should you.
Betsy Palmer played Jason Voorhees's mother in the Friday the 13th movies (1980). She took the part because she wanted a new car. She was paid $10,000. (IMDB)
Betsy was beautiful. television in the simple days.... I thought that Jane's secret was that her and her sister( Audrey) were actually listed as being Chinese, being both born in China.
Well Audrey was actually born in New York while they were here from China and they went right back to China and that’s the confusion. Jayne was born in China along with her two brothers.
I wish our world was this innocent NOW. Are kids would have such a better childhood like we did.. I feel privileged to have lived my whole life UNTIL NOW such a WONDER FULL LIFE.. .. THESE DAYS ARE SUCH A NIGHTMARE.. POOR KID'S WILL NEVER KNOW HOW THE U S A WAS A DREAM COME TRUE.. THEN ALONG CAME 2020 ..HIJACKED OUR WHOLE LIFE😔🙏💜😧
The world was only a dream for some. I am pretty old (almost 70) and thankful I grew up in a home with a family who helped us understand the huge inequities in our country and the world.
After 12:41, I'm surprised Mr Blood could hear anything ever again... that buzzer sounding whilst he has the hearing device held to his head! I-o Me-o!!
Not “we’re considered” - they really had no thought of Ill health- “smoke ‘em f you’ve got ‘em!” - the tobacco companies gave the soldiers cigarettes for free (and most came home addicted!). They did do it to calm nerves. …..
All those cigarettes! How sad to learn that Garry Moore was diagnosed with throat cancer and later died of a heart attack, and Bill Cullen & Henry Morgan died of lung cancer.
I love these old shows. I’m so glad they were saved on tape so that we can continue to enjoy them!
It was only due to people interested and was not a common practice. If you notice, this isn't the original recording.

I was born in 1960. I’m really enjoying these old episodes. I especially love the relatives of Celebrity.

Seeing Charles Blood of the Kansas City Star was a real hoot. He retired in 1963, when I was seven, so I remember his column in the paper.

Hilarious! I'll bet they had so much fun!
Jayne Meadow's sister, Audrey Meadows, played Alice Cramden on the Jackie Gleason Show.
They were both very pretty, even though they made Audrey look drab in the Honeymooners.
I loved her as Alice Kramden

This was one of the best episodes of the series

Betsy Palmer was so beautiful, and seemed like a very good person.
Remember, God-JESUS looks at the heart. Betsy must judge herself with Matthew 7:21-27, John 14:21, Acts 2:38-42
89 years old; that was a long life back then. He seemed so sweet ~ and charming as Gary Moore described him.
Silly segment with Jane M. and I felt sorry for the cow.
They did not SWEAR!! I loved THAT!! CLASSY
Jane Meadows was nice looking when she was younger. A real knockout.
I've fallen in love with these folks, all over again.
I watched a few of these. Betsy Palmer looks so cute and innocent and adorable. I wondered what she was in, and what she was famous for. So I googled. And so should you.
She was in anything she wanted lol.!
Betsy appeared on the stage, in films and on TV in numerous productions over many years, but IGAS is what she is most remembered for.

The cow was great 😂🤣😅
All they had was an audio recording of the finale of the previous show.
Winston cigs!! They used to be good for you... Lol WOW😁
Several years later Garry Moore had an Armadillo empty in his hands on To Tell The Truth
After 12:41, I'm surprised Mr Blood could hear anything ever again... that buzzer sounding whilst he has the hearing device held to his head!
I-o Me-o!!

FYI at this time cigarettes were considered good for you they calmed the nerves
"Were considered", you mean, they lied their asses off to us. Get real
Not “we’re considered” - they really had no thought of Ill health- “smoke ‘em f you’ve got ‘em!” - the tobacco companies gave the soldiers cigarettes for free (and most came home addicted!). They did do it to calm nerves. …..
Saved by the cow.
lol the cow
The cow had a cow
Jayne Meadows were known as being the rudest female panelist ever and she sure takes the crown
All those cigarettes! How sad to learn that Garry Moore was diagnosed with throat cancer and later died of a heart attack, and Bill Cullen & Henry Morgan died of lung cancer.
I'll post if before somebody else does: "But Uncle Elmer smoked 3 packs a day and lived to 90."
You correctly predicted Samuel J. Seymour's secret. (seeing John Wilkes Booth shoot Abraham Lincoln in April 1865)
Too funny
All they wanted was some milk, not the pies.
Ah, those shoulders!
That's nice give the old newspaper guy some Winstons, he can write his own obituary. (Cough, cough).
Wait wait wait he reported the Spanish American war?!
The one that happened in 1898?!
Omg
Back when $20 was real money, huh?
Jane; " I'm a MAN"!
Mmm . . . good 'ol MSG. 😬
