I concur with your assessment. I've got this exact set-up, two prolift jack stands and the plastic covers. No bugger welds on the stands. Works great with my lifted SUVs 👍😎👍

This is the most obscure rant. I respect that. But your comment about the harbor freight ones got me searching. I own a pair of the deadly ones. Had no idea. Just looked it up online and I can get a refund for them. You just saved me $25 towards a pair of pro lifts.

My standard height pro lift stands came as a pair and the notches don’t match at all so It could be a supply chain issue perhaps?

Those pieces are cast so it has nothing to do with it costing more to manufacture.
