Now that Blayst's Guide to TBC Classic Phase 3 & 4 Ret paladin BIS is finally released, such a huge burden is off of my chest. The many sleepless nights breaking out into a cold sweat thinking about to prio cataclysms edge or not, and wondering if he would recommend the Tier 6 Lightbringer Breastplate. Don't even get me started on the pants. I to this day get laughed at by all my peers since that fateful day I picked Chestplate of A'dal. I still have countless nightmares of that moment. Even my mom and EX girlfriend (she broke up with me when she saw it) laughed at me when they saw my character wearing that deplorable skirt and asked "lol didn't you watch blayst prebis video?". I am so excited to finally replace it and finally feel like a reformed man and a true Retribution paladin gamer in the PVE scenario, and it is all thanks to you Blayst.
I wanted to switch from prot to ret fairly quick into tbc. Had also picked chestplate of adal. I leveld a new paladin to 70 just for the expertise legs. (and also didnt wanna drop jc or enchanting for blacksmithing tbh)
@@facuderiverplate not by a lot but its bit worse if you dont need the hit because BoK and Talents gives you + 20% on Str therefore more AP also Shadowmoon will be contested by other Meeles
What do you think aboud the new ZA Badge necklace with only stam/hit/expertise ? I know its a tank item but im missing the vashj belt and it brings me from 12 expertise to 17 would you say thats worth it?
My guild has yet to see ONE 100D drop in our main raids. I hit my main raid and 3 other alt raids every week since T5 dropped and I've only see 2 total, both on our alt runs. Big Sadge.
Seems like you are stacking a lot of haste, almost as much as possible. I've looked at other lists from, for example, the Light Club discord's phase 3 bis lists and they have other pieces of gear over the haste ones you have listed. Are they undervaluing haste? Or is haste just that good over Blood-Stained pauldrons (just as an example of gear I'm looking at). Big fan, thanks!
this video is very informative. I understand the bis list and reasons. Im curious on what the thoughts would be on aiming for bracer and boots for tier. I know everyone can't get BiS, so I figured to ask my guild if i can go for those since it's a lot of expertice and haste. Getting hit in other areas.
No major differences similar to the legs in phase 2 regarding humans and non humans. Armor penetration does not affect seal damage; therefore, it only increases an estimated 60-70% of your total damage. It sims lower than the other pieces and haste set.
I'm still going for Cataclysm's Edge... getting sick numbers on the dos meters is all well and good... but if you don't look good while doing it, what's the point? =D
What is the reason for using Bow-stitched Leggings over Greaves of the Bloodwarder? Is the agility that good that you give up the Strength of Bloodwarders?
sorta, its also the fact that bow stitched give 100 AP, 3 gem slots, some int, crit, AND the agi. bloodwarder has much less crit and a little more AP, allowing you to take pieces with more strength in other slots.
Yo blayst i habe a question my guild is doing preneed bis lists for every class and for band of the aggressor they put wardps/cat>enh>ret does that even make sense in your opinion because for ancestral ring of conquer from ssc i was put to first prio cause ret gets 10% more strength and this is basocally the same isnt it. Small upgrade anyways but was just asking Thanks for the bis list btw great work and keep pumping
T6 shoulders are a great item if you don’t have the hydross shoulders. However, staying with the hydross shoulders gives more consistency from expertise.
hey new ret here, so I been playing with DST for a few weeks now, insane trinket. BUT when I got wings + pot + mongoose proc I just seem to miss more twists than I should, feel like if you miss one twist you get off sync and you've wasted your haste pot. I've been thinking with the new brew trinket wouldn't it be better to just use brooch + brew for full on use AP buff during full CDs? Surely it has to be better than DST messing with swing timer?
If you have it, use DST. I try to get that piece of shit since release and just can’t get my fucking hands on it. Seeing people who got it thinking about not using it is so infuriating.
@@TheRealBlayst My man, thank you sir. We don't run an arms so I'm only going to take if our prot/fury doesn't want for PVP. Also, Luxury sends our regards ;)
Hey, thanks for the video. I'm just swaping roles for ret pal in my guild, and as I'll probably not be abble to get thoses juicy expertise items from t5 raids, I'd like to know if you could help finding a belt alternative ?
A slower weapon makes your weapon do more flat damages If we stack haste it will permit to us to attack faster while conserving those flat damages and so doing more dps
The most difficult item to get for any ret pally is... not DST. It's the Libram. NOBODY in my guild or server ever wants to run Heroic BF. Try as I might, I have maybe gotten about 5 runs in since TBC hit. Never seen the damn thing drop.
Both bow stitched and the t6 legs sim higher for us than the shattrath leggings. If you were human and had all the other expertise items, you could have dropped them last phase. But thankfully, all races can drop them this phase.
18 expertises?! You need 25. So bis gear don’t changes except several items. Shoulders, gloves, legs, belt and ring will be the same as phase 2. And with DST the second trinket will be Tsunami. 2H from Kel or BS crafted sword also gives +- same damage, as 2H mace from BT. Difference between phase 2 and phase 3/4 Bis lists are very pore, about 3-4% critchance and some AP. You can go with phase 2 bis in Plato and damage will not be much lower as phase 3/4 bis.
You are correct that there isn’t much in terms of upgrades for us for this phase. However, the legs will be dropped for the t6 choices. Torch of the Damned is a very big upgrade in terms of damage between both twinblade and lionheart. You can check out the dps differences on these items and sets in the RetSim
arp not great stat for ret? lol... the problem with cata edge is that it has no crit so might agree that tourch can be better. if ret able to stack 800+arp then its totally worth it. once swp comes arp gear will be bis for ret coz u get arp+crit vs just haste. no way to beat items like immortal night legs and bladed chaos tunic, when u compare all they are something like 5% more crit + 1200+arp btw what % of dmg is phys? even with twisting it should be 70%+. so ppl like u think coz 30% is holy we should not use the best stat in the game arp?
Yes. ArP is not a good stat for ret because they can't use it fully because a decent amount of their damage isn't affected by it. Blayst is right, it's not a good stat for ret when you compare it to the other stats when you check the value per stat point. He's not talking about Immortal Night or any of the Sunwell pieces which besides the ArP is really well itemized, he's looking at T6 content and in that phase ArP items are worse for ret paladins. It's not rocket science and you shouldn't look at it in black and white. There's obviously going to be ArP pieces which are BiS as you mentioned yourself, but just not in this phase.

Bow stitched leggings are also bis for survival hunter and enhance shaman, so there is some competition there
I was waiting for your bis guide
Awesome guide! Thank you so much
A note to the Cloak of Darkness its only slighty better then Razor if you have a 10Str Gem in it
How are any of the 2 better than Shadowmoon Destroyer tho?
@@facuderiverplate not by a lot but its bit worse if you dont need the hit because BoK and Talents gives you + 20% on Str therefore more AP also Shadowmoon will be contested by other Meeles

those release with sunwell, which is 2 phases away
Do we need a set for shadow resistance ?
Any major differences for human/other races …and what’s the dealio with armor pen?

If you have it, use DST.
I try to get that piece of shit since release and just can’t get my fucking hands on it.

@@JamCie Nah I just decided to not use it lol i like BLB. good luck with grool tho
without LW bracers, what is the next best option? (are the BS haste bracers also worth?)
you can use the LW bracers without being LW. its like the belts from last phase. shoulders you need to be the profession to craft and use them
Hi. Is blacksmithing useful anymore in the following phases?
No, blacksmithing has reached is life span in tbc
@@TheRealBlayst Thank you very much!!!!
band of eternal champions not worth using? Thought the ap proc would be massive for us?
The other 3 rings are superior, however band of eternal champion is good for pvp.
What would you use, Twinblade/Lionheart or Cat's Edge as a filler until Torch?
Cats edge is better than twinblade and lionheart, however your warriors may want cats edge first
@@TheRealBlayst My man, thank you sir. We don't run an arms so I'm only going to take if our prot/fury doesn't want for PVP. Also, Luxury sends our regards ;)
What about trinkets?
I got tsunami + dst, I dont get it why is that not good?
Tsunami’s proc rate for ret is not that good. It’s uptime is not as impressive as other classes. Brooch sims higher than tsunami as well.
If you're dropping BS for enchanting is +4 stats the best ring enchant for ret? I said you had that on seventyupgrades
Yes +4 stats is the best ring enchant for ret, also great for pvp

Please let me know your thoughts on lionheart as human ret and engineering goggles. I went through a lot of trouble obtaining them
What about them, they’re bis for the current phase right now
why is haste good if we want a slower weapon anyway?
A slower weapon makes your weapon do more flat damages
If we stack haste it will permit to us to attack faster while conserving those flat damages and so doing more dps
when are u gonna drop BS? once Phase 3 opens or when you get the new weapon? and I also checked that Cloak of Darkness is still not available.
no one would drop it until they get the weapon from phase 3, no point dropping it once it comes out
The most difficult item to get for any ret pally is... not DST. It's the Libram. NOBODY in my guild or server ever wants to run Heroic BF. Try as I might, I have maybe gotten about 5 runs in since TBC hit. Never seen the damn thing drop.
I dont understand 3% hit
Dont you need 6% even with a boomkin?
3% hit set refers to having improved FF in raid as well as speccing into precision.
6% is referring to no imp FF in raid.
is cataclysm better than lionheart? My raid leader might force me to buy one
Yes, so is soul cleaver for non human.
What about the engineering goggles?
This whole Guide.. are a mess for rings they are the Band of the Eternal Champion which is not in the list?
The 3 rings listed sim better than eternal champion. Eternal champion is good in pvp though.
pendant of the perilous being rare is crazy, my guild has one on all STR using melee and a few to offspec for tanks and healers... yikes
It didnt drop for the first 12 resets for us. Then dropped FOUR TIMES in two raids. Felt completely silly to even have done prio list for it
Tyyyy :))))
ZA is not on a 3 day reset
Whats the reasoning behind us throwing away shatrath leggings, i mean do we not need the expertise from that slot no more? and why not
