3 Hour Fly Fishing Challenge // Dry fly fishing & euro nymphing my local river
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 лют 2025
- I spent a great October day out on my local river fishing for Rainbows recently but I didn't do the usual spot jumping. I went to one location and fished for 3 hours to see what would happen. Overall I think it went pretty well and we learned a few things along the way. Is this something you have ever done out on the water?

Nice, thanks
No problem 👍
I’ve had REALLY good luck there in the Fall with a #8 BH October Caddis Pupa!!!
Yeah, I’ve had that experience also
A double sic, good video
Thanks 🙏🏻
I’ve had similar situations where I’ve fished a particular stretch (on the St. Joe) with maybe 15 different patterns(including buggers/streamers). Just as I was about to abandon the water, I strapped on a crippled Caddis dry…..and landed five fish on six casts! It’s really weird when they’re locked on one type of bug…
I bet that was rewarding though :)
That’s a decent afternoon!!! Good vid, man.
Thanks!
Great video as always!!! The last couple weeks the France Fly with a light metallic pink bead has been the ticket 🎟 for me on that water too🙂
Nice! That fly works in a lot of different places :)
Yakima?
If you know you know :)
Another good video! I recognize the spot, that’s where you and I met with Michael about two or three years ago. I netted a sucker fish like that about 3 miles upstream. Congratulations again on your fifth Place!!
Thanks Jim!
Hey, I live in this area, I work in a fly shop, I would love to hit the river together. I want to have fun working with a partner to pick apart
and read water! And I know some good spots! Lots to learn when comparing notes
Maybe even make a video!
Two people filming gives you a lot more flexibility!
Let me know the next time you are out this way
Great video as always ! Had a quick question. Why do you like using a single nymph on your euro so often? Is there something about it that you find beneficial? I’m new to the euro style and would love your input. That’s brother.
I will switch to a single nymph based on the water type I'm fishing. So if it's deeper water I will run two flies vs shallow water where I may use a single nymph. There are other reasons but hard to explain in a comment box :)
@@FlyingTies appreciate the info! keep on keeping on I wait for them videos every week!
Sweet vid! What are the specs on your dry fly rod. 9’ 3wt?
Yeah, it’s a sage x 9’ 3wt
