Hi Tracey, in Canada we call those white flowers, Sneezewort, it is a yarrow. It is used sometimes as a "baby breathe" type filler in arrangements. Love your show
Dear Lord, you`re like a fairy living in a fairyland. Bless you! I adore hydrangeas. This year (2024) the heat waves destroyed mine very early on. It`s a pity. No dried hydrangeas for me this year. Thanks for this lovely video.💚🤎💖 Greetings from Slovenia.
Wow Tracy. I’m SO impressed how you find the time and energy to look after your huge garden and property and your home. And of course the wonderful videos you share with us. ❤
Hydrangea bushes in full bloom put on such a gorgeous show in the gardens up and down my neighbourhood. Thank you for your helpful tips. You’ve inspired me to bring in a bouquet today!
Love everything you do and I am a big fan of hydrangeas and tulips myself. Big thank you for all the hydrangea tips. I have just created a wreath with faux hydrangeas for our main entrance, looking forward to drying my own 💚
So nice of you to say, thank you🤗your wreath sounds beautiful, they are such a great flower to work with both real and faux. Thank you for being here🥰🥰🥰
MY goodness! How lovely to have such a beautiful property to forage. I can only imagine all the gorgeous arrangements you will be making for fall. Looking forward to seeing how you use them.
If you let a few parsnips run to seed not only do they make an amazing show in the early summer( an idea nicked from a Cleve West Chelsea garden) they dry easily by the hanging method & make lovely large decor in huge vases. See
Had to watch again. I cut some of the hydrangeas yesterday, now to dry them. Here in the States the white flowers you had are called Cotton Tail plants, I have several plants. I think you called one plant Bull Rushes, we call them Cat Tails, and YESSSS, they cause quite a mess, had some open in the house 🤦♀I hear now you can put Mod Podge to prevent this, maybe matted, unless you want glossy. So pretty. I always learn something new with your posts, I thoroughly enjoy them. Gets me up and moving at 75 🐝🌾🍂🦋 Hugs to your Supervisor Bertie
Absolutely fabulous video, so inspiring especially as they're so expensive in the shops! Thank you Tracey you're by far my favourite channel now 🤗👏. Lx
Great tips … thanks! I was fascinated to see that here in western Canada we have some of the similar wild plants that I dried last fall as you have just picked. 🌾🍁🍂
Wow, so happy I found you ! I love your style of decor , reusing … I also plant and love hydrangeas… can’t stop watching your videos.. 5 years ago I moved back to my home and looking for inspiration for decor
Hi Tracey, I'm new to your channel and I love your style. You have beautiful home and grounds. Thank you for tutorial on drying my favorite flower, by the way beautiful dress!
Another inspiring video Tracy. Loved all the flowers 💐 🌺 the hydrangeas and the broom broom 😅 I can’t wait to purchase our new home in Uk as soon as we’ve sold one of our houses in Portugal 🇵🇹 I do love the different weather’s you have especially Autumn and winter snow, which is something we don’t have here in south of Portugal 🇵🇹. Love your beautiful pink dress by the way.❤
How exciting Lina! Will you divide your time between the 2 countries? It’s not been a great summer here this year, wish I could have spent it out there! 😎Thanks for watching lovely 😊🥰
@RuralRefurb your welcome 🙏 i love your home and grounds, and it's so beautiful that it reminds me of a step back in time. Yes, we have 2 homes here a townhouse and a villa, and both have been put up for sale. Looking into buying around hampshire area and living in uk and Portugal 🇵🇹 xx
I wish I had giant size Hydrangeas to dry. I have one in a pot so I get small ones but they are still pretty. Love your natural garden. I would never be inside !

I am member of a local flower club in sussex and was wondering if you would be interested in coming to give a talk on home drying and styling to our members. Love your drying and styling tips.🎉
Now you know I’m dying to make a Wombles reference here don’t you?? 😂You have to be from the UK and a certain age to know what I mean! Thanks so much for watching and happy foraging! 🤗
Beautiful ❤ I love hydrangeas, but here in north Florida I’ve never seen anything like that before, they are incredible in color and size. Mine bloom in May and they don’t last but a few weeks. I’m wondering also do you have snakes, poisonous ones? You must not the way you’re walking through all the high grasses. It’s truly beautiful there. You are very blessed.😊
We only have 1 poisonous snake in the UK and that’s the Adder… only 14 people have died from Adder bites in the last 145 years in this country!!!! So I think I’m ok 😃Thanks for your question though 🤗🥰
@@RuralRefurb well, God knows we have them in north Florida. One week ago my son killed a rattlesnake. We have a farm and we need to be very careful all the time, we have many different types:( so we keep the area around us mowed.I Enjoy watching your channel. And watching , escape to rural France. That’s an amazing young man. I don’t guess I’ll live long enough to see him finish his château.
❤ this! How do you prevent spiders from coming with the plants? I dried some a couple of weeks ago and I’ve been finding the biggest spiders since around my house. Thank you!!
I enjoy your videos. I moved in a house that has several Hydrangea bushes. I tried to dry some but they fall apart after drying. Would you know what I am doing wrong? Thank You
How lovely that you’ve got well established bushes there, just be careful to pick them at the right time and when dry maybe try hairspray. I often spray paint mine which helps with the shedding. Also I think it depends on the type, Annabelles shed quite a lot whereas mopheads don’t tend to IMO 😊🤗
You could try but they may be too fresh. I’d put them somewhere cool and dark to try. It’s best to pick them for drying when they are just going over on the bush 🥰
Hi, I live down the road from you & I love your posts, I don't know what I am doing wrong, after cutting the hydrangeas, I have tried Hanging and putting them in a vase, but they just wilt, where I'm I going wrong? Help please. Viv
Hellooo!🙌🏼You are probably cutting them too early when they have too much moisture in them. Best to cut when they feel papery, starting to dry on the bush😊🌸
Hi Tracy, I messaged you a few weeks ago about magnolia leaves in your winter display, you told me that you wax them , what wax do you recommend & would I be able to spray them silver etc & wax after , Love your channel from jacqui, Staffordshire 🫶🫶 Ps we live on the edge of a forest, so will be hunting down pine cones & twigs Love ❤️ Light 🕯️& Angel 😇 Blessing 🙏🙏
Hi Jacqui! Definitely colour first then wax. Here is the link to the wax I use😊Annie Sloan White Wax: US & Others amzn.to/45vZaBC UK amzn.to/3x3sTVC Have fun xx
you are probably picking them too late, they need to be picked as soon as they turn brown, just after pollination, then remove any foliage, hang upside down somewhere dark and cool with little humidity then after a few weeks spray with hairspray and display. It’s the same with hydrangeas, when you pick them is key! Hope that helps 🤗
Thank you for being here! It’s hydrangea drying season so please share your ways of drying these gorgeous blooms! 🌸🌸🌸

Annabelle 😊
I used step1..
How do you to them from crumble and shedding
I think it’s down to picking them at the right time, drying in a cool dark space and sometimes I use hairspray😁
@@RuralRefurb Thank you your Home is very Beautiful 😍
I used glycerine for holly leaves and it kept them very subtle but darkens the leaves
Ooooh never tried it with holly! Thanks for sharing 😁

If you spray the bulrushes well with hairspray as soon as you pick them, they won't explode 😊
So true! The power of hairspray! Just wish I’d done it as soon as I’d got home!!!🥴

they look like cat tails. the brown sticks with flyaways there.
