- Small clip of what it takes to do a timing chain water pump of the vq37. This car came in with a bad water pump leak behind the rear timing cover, we only recommend Nissan OEM timing components that were all purchased from Z1 motorsports

How miles on it"
Do you have a list of parts please
I'm in Fort Mill SC and attempting to do this myself for the galley gaskets. How do you lock the engine to get the harmonic balancer back on and torqued down? I have the chain and sprockets coming but can't understand how to get them off the cams. Do you know of a video? What is your price for just labor for GG and all chains?
I usually just use an impact to run the balancer back on with some lock tight. Or invest in a flywheel holder. Impact has never did my wrong. Honestly I usually never replace the sprockets unless you have an engine that’s had a lot of bad oil burn inside it. And there’s usually a speacilty tool you can lock the came togeather so
You can crack them both loose. I think labor is usually around $1000 for full tear down, replacement, and back togeather.
I’m having the same problem with my 2012 g37. Leaking behind the ac compressor, what all seals and gaskets do I need to do the water pump. Shits stressing me out
I have a 2013 and mine was leaking behind the ac compressor running down the side of oil pan. Coming from weep hole from water pump. I did the job last weekend and no more leak. Water pump seal was no good causing coolant to go around seal and leak from weep hole. There are two o ring gaskets make sure u don’t put on backwards or u will leak coolant into oil. Job was tedious then anything. Take a lot of pics if ur not a skilled mechanic job may be over welding for most. I been a mechanic past 19yrs. So for me no problem.
Question for anyone in the comments. If I need to change my water pump on my m37 is it smart to just swap the motor to a 5.6 if I have access to one?
5.6 are hard to come by. Will be a lot more expensive bc your gonna need wire harness, computer, motor mounts and I would assume they take the same trans hopefully. I usually only charge about $1600-1800 to do the water pump, timing chains, and all seals. That includes OEM parts and labor
@KG Installs thanks for the advice bro so 1500 not bad for the job but I'll still look around to see if I can get a little better price.
I just did this project and what a pain in the ass
My car need a timing chain, how much would a job like this cost me ? And is it hard ?
$1500-$1800
What year G37 is in the video?
09
@@KGInstalls i have a 2010 G37 x / it might be time to order all these parts . would the charge be cheaper with already purchased parts.
How much is this job? I need a new water pump installed on my HR engine, 2010 FX35 and this look very very very time consuming.
$1700 OEM parts and labor if you wanted to bring it to me I do them on the regular.

How much is it usually to repair a water pump on a g37? Also how big of a problem can this water pump break be?
Was leaking pretty bad in the back side of the timing cover. Never want a big leak and risk overheating. This job is usually right around $1500 with parts and labor bc you might as well be doing a full timing job if your already taking it all apart.
What were the symptoms it had before
So this car actually started leaking coolant from the back side of the timing cover behind AC compressor. Any delay or slack feeling in timing chain, over heating, low oil pressure, or coolant leaking would require this job to be done.
@@KGInstalls did it have a ticking?
Great!!!! Thats extactly what my car is being diagnosed for it was in limp mode for a week, did the ticking thing upon accleration wouldnt go over 40mph then 20mph eventually it wouldnt start. Now its in the shop the mechanic is saying it needs a new starter and has a major coolant leak. Most likely its a gallery gasket/water pump/timing chain job
$$$. The VQ35HR has been nothing but a nightmare since I bought it 4 months ago. 😡
@@lgarla23 Nissan V6 is trash after 100K
@@kingofuseddurablecars.ls6040 so my plan is too get this G35 running and sell it fast. What kinda cars do you recommend?
Crank bolt removal method
1/2 Milwaukee drill with weighted socket
What something like this cost I need this done
between $1500 and $2000 depending on a few extra seals that i would recommend hanging at the same time.
So what seals My infiniti friend. ?
@@oskarkarrera full gasket and oil seal kit from Z1 motorsports is the way to go.
Get rid of those Nissan VQ35/37 engines all have timing chain issues 😑. Nissan V8 4.5, 5.0, 5.6 is the way to go trust Me I do this Japanese shitt👌.
@@KGInstalls hell yeah/ z1 is definitely the way to go .
At this much work, why not just pull and replace other gaskets, too
Yes replace everything the first time and should be good for atleast another 100K miles if using all OEM parts.
Wow lol I was going to boost my .. q50 he'll naw not no more I'm good
I had to use a heavy 19mm socket, heat and KROIL Penetrating Lubricant:
Oil valley 😄
You didnt need to remove the rear cover
Coolant was leaking from behind the rear cover.
@@KGInstalls my 2008 sedan is leaking coolant from the driver's side above the side of the pan. pretty sure it's my water pump. how would i know if need to remove the rear cover as well when i go pull it? thanks!
@@vinny6_9did u pull the rear cover
@@rayvettevlogs no, was no need to do that for the water pump.
@@vinny6_9 ok I got a 2013 g 37 sedan. Gonna tackle the job. Mine started leaking last week. I got 223k on engine
