- Your Host Dave unboxes the new Hasbro Pulse exclusive Cobra o-rings 2-pack! Are they awesome updates or disappointing duds? Watch and find out!
Thanks for the honest review. I feel absolutely betrayed about the officer figure defect. I personally engineer o ring action figures and I can tell you with certainty the officer leg bending defect is due to the engineer that designed the master 3d model did not provide enough clearance for full rotational range. Look at the gap behind the officer knee and compare it to a vintage figure. Each and every officer and you can bet, the upcoming stinger driver will have this same design defect. We all contacted hasbro about this and the only options they give us are:1. Keep them and like them as they are and piss off, or: 2. Send back ALL of the figures for a full refund! And their product manager Emily that has been aggressively marketing and bragging about how great they are and how wonderful these figures are now ignore, delete, and block any negative comments about this disaster. I was so excited about the o ring line, but after this bullsh** betrayal and disrespectful treatment, I don't think I'm buying anymore. That's why I make my own o ring figures better than them! Fyi, I kept my figures, I ordered 2 packs. I altered the officer figure by cutting the additional required clearance behind the knee area and now he works fine. I also used heat and a brace to straighten the legs because they shoved him into an improperly designed plastic bubble. A bunch of corner cutting, half assed, rush product to market without any consideration for quality jerkoffs! The reaction figures even though 5 poa, are made with a monumentally higher standard for engineering, artwork, packaging and presentation AND EVEN the content on the card! Look at reaction card content! Most of it is about the character! Hasbro cards are all about multi language compliance warnings and identifiers that even get stamped all over the figure!
Thanks for watching!
I agree whole-heartedly with everything you've said. They even made the backpack pegs incompatible with vintage accessories. These figures are not worth the premium that Hasbeen is trying to charge for them. Emily is part of what is wrong with the current GI Joe team at Hasbro. Lazy, low-effort products with low availability that are way over-priced so they don't even have to even produce the quantities for retail. They are not concerned with the collectors, only price gouging the hell out of us because people our age have money to spend on their half-assed junk.
I agree and chalked the warbly leg issue to the softer plastic that Hasbro has been using in all their "retro" figures across a few different lines. The bent, pigeon-angled legs that don't make contact with the stands together are the worst imperfections and A LOT of them have it. Yes, the legacy packs, you are right, do not fit these figs; they just drop out.
The back-of-the-leg stamp doesn't bother me so much as it becomes a 'tell' to let you know that it is not the original or part of an original fig. If you take the figs apart, there are more differences like the arm sockets are angled - hexangular I believe rather than circular open. The rivets are very different and the masks obviously don't have the folds. It will be more difficult to tell Black Major factory customs apart from the '83s.
The superfluous packaging is the main drawback to me. Way too much to open and you are paying to open the elaborate packaging.
A lot of the weapons included were included with foreign releases of the Soldier and Trooper. The broken-down AK-47 being included is a mystery to me as well. Black Major has been doing the same thing and I doubt they collaborated with one another for their releases. A full AK-47 is what I always felt the Soldiers should come with. That and the laser rifle of the Sunbow cartoon Hasbro did in 2008 and Super7 is doing now.
Great video, thanks!
That short barreled looking ak looks like the mini Draco in my opinion, great video 👍I’m torn on these guys
I think one set is a must-have. If it had been two Troopers or a Trooper and any other non-officer troop builder I would have bought a dozen.
The small gun is an "AK 74u" replica.
tq for always review the O ring line❤️😍
They'll always be my sentimental favorite. Thanks for watching!
They look good I am opening mine this weekend
Nice! I didn’t know about these figures until today. I bought the other retro troopers, that don’t fit 3,75” scale. I really need some proper Cobra troopers.
I'm still hoping they'll release the Trooper as a single or maybe a 4 pack. I'd love to buy a bunch.
Hasbro gave me two replacements lol 😂 same issues so they didn’t care to address the offices leg problem but I just ordered another pack so I could have a few more. And yes a troop pack would have been awesome.
Great Video 👏👏
It looks like all the officers legs are like that. I've seen multiple reviews and pictures and all have leg problems. Mine are the same and won't bend past 45°. I will try the heat gun trick you did.
I hit them one more time and they're straight enough to look fine on the shelf. Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching!
Definitely flawed, but the closest thing to the originals. I'll take it.
Great view brother, ordering mine next week. I was born in 1987 so I missed this line of figures. Peace
✌️Thanks for watching!
@@NeedlessThings thanks for the awesome reviews you do for us👍 your review of the cobra fang was hilarious... Lol, I bought 2 as well. I like them except for the fact that both left arms snapped at the elbow on the 2 Cobra pilots, like their barely hanging on to the upper arm ya know. So happy for the o-ring returning! Have a great night friend...
@@NeedlessThings yeah I won't be buying the o ring figs, I'll just stick with the 25th anniversary figures. I read the reviews on Hasbro pulse an the fans were pissed about the shitty quality of the figures. It's a shame... I was all excited for the o ring return but at $52.52 no way. I like the 25th figures! Have a great day sir😀
I just brought these two and you mentioned in the states they’re $41 which is $63 Australian but in Australia they’re $90 🤔
Wow. That's ridiculous.
They should have stayed true to the vintage eyes and legs. How hard one it be to 3D scan an old mold instead of making a thin one. The price point is $45 a figure once you factor in shipping and duty charges when duty charges should not be on items $150 and under
my cobra officer do not have those problems with the legs. Also the officer knees were not design to bend all the way like the vintage or the trooper. I think it is a design flaw. If you keep bending it you could break it.
Nah, they're fine. Just needed some heat. Thanks for watching!
I think the small ak is supposed to be an ak 74u
Thanks for the info!
Awesome in-depth video. Personally I can't bring myself to buy them, just too expensive. Also what's up with the eyes? They are so beady!
They're basically the same as the originals, just with a darker, heavier paint app. It works - evil Cobras should have beady little eyes!
Thanks for watching!
Your wrong about the windowless figures just wait till you buy a figure like I did for my nephew and end up with a different marvel character that you didn’t buy what we need is no trays like back In the 80’s just flooring in a plastic bubble so mint on card people can still have mint on card we don’t need trays for figures and weapons but I do like the weapons crate idea is good and yes we need female cobra troopers and trooper build pack sets and take off that crappy bar code like you said also I hate the super7 sunbow figures love the cards hate that you set back on articulation at there price but love all of there other products that were never made but you can’t replace your old figures with em like the new o ring figures and then display the originals in cases on selves now also need multi ethic troop builders
Thanks for watching!
Dave, I remember you saying on a previous episode of _"Audible Interlude,"_ that it would be too expensive for Hasbro to bring back o-ring figures. Why did you think that it was cost prohibitive?
Because I never imagined they'd have the gall to charge over $20 apiece for an o-ring figure. 😂 By the logic I was using at the time, I was right. I also didn't think they'd really be willing to use Pulse as a direct market seller in the way that they are. As they say in the wrestling business, "things change".
The art work is nice but the stamps are horrible they might wipe off with something
