You are 100% correct about how things are shipped at WM. I am a manager over the “consolidation” portion where orders are out together and boxed for shipping in an eCommerce Walmart center. The associate is told what size box to use and dunnage is placed in it to prevent shifting. There has even been a push to place as many items in padded mailing envelopes as possible to cut costs. However, there is a project underway to come up with new methods and standards with shipping “collectibles” as the company has received a lot of negative feedback from customers about damages created from incorrect or poor packaging. The key factor however would be whether an action figure (toy) would fall in this category or be thought as a collectible by the project planners. Stay tuned!
I appreciate Kyle for going into the explanation. Walmart can be a terrible place to work or buy stuff, but the workers can't be blamed for damaging the "cardboard" (paper). But I agree Hasbro does not have that excuse for damaged packaging. They know they are serving the collectors, and they still do not care.
Dang I just got classified Storm Shadow. I absolutely love everything about him, but I do wish he came with those extra hands. Shout out to Quick Kick also, I hear they're working on him, can't wait for some images of him!
Great review and video! Shockingly my Zartan and Storm Shadow were shipped very carefully in a box with air packs from Walmart, but the card backs are so flimsy mine still came a little warped….but better than expected….
I missed out on mr. retro storm shadow but eventually I will get it once its in stock but I do have the classified version its pretty cool! Nice review✨
I'm not a Joe guy, but this is a cool figure. The Amazon Storm Shadow looks like he was in Assassin's creed. The movie one isn't as cool as the Hasbro ones. This is a must if you're a Joe fan or collector.
Got mine from HasbroPulse & Zartan & Storm Shadow card/paper box came perfect. Idk 🤷🏽♂️ if everyone got there's with a weird shredded paper & I guess it protected them. Great Review brother 👍🏻 👏🏼 👌🏼
I just picked up my Stormshadow about an hour ago at my local Walmart. They had 3 on the peg and all cardbacks were mint. My first Classified Stormshadow and I came to your video to see the differences. I'm glad I got this one, looks the most like the original 3 3/4 from when I was a kid. Ecstatic I finally got him.
I am having trouble deciding which on of these I get. I love the card back GI Joes more, but also love being able to put them back in the boxes. I don't care about the hood. I love the white tip arrows, but I don't like the off white wrappings on the arms and legs. I love the extra hands. Can you put the extra hands on the one that doesn't come with them? This maybe the first classified where I must buy them both ahhhh lol.
Can't wait to get a few of these once they start hitting my area. I had an idea of taking one of them, and removing the Cobra Logo, like he has defected from them and has gone back to his roots with the forearm wrappings etc., or maybe the other way around with the Classified version. The Snake Eyes movie's first 30 minutes or so was interesting...then it was just bleh, with a few cool scenes thrown in here and there. Visually it was awesome, and Storm Shadow's costume design was pretty cool, but they got the color wrong for the figure lol.
I was willing to overlook the changes in the origin stories (Snake-eyes and Storm Shadow), but they pretty much made Snake-eyes into a evil selfish person. And the only reason he was able to join the Joes is because of legacy in his family. There are lame and stupid changes. I was hating the character we are supposed to cheer for. Storm Shadow is actually the hero in the movie. They should have named the movie after him and have Snake be the villain and Cobra assasin, if they are going to change things up.
You could just buy the Articulated Icons white ninja that looks just like Storm Shadow without the logo, I actually used that as my Storm Shadow and added the Cobra Logo decal to his upper chest, guess I should have known he would eventually come down the pipeline.
@@BTT16 I happened to buy 4 of each each color and I use the Black, Grey, and Blue Ninjas as Snake Eye's group/ninja clan, the White, Red, and Purple as Storm Shadow's group/ninja clan, and then I use the Green, Brown, and Tan as Kamakura's group/ninja clan.
It's a slam dunk for me. I haven't found them in stores. Maybe I've been going to the wrong stores. Are they Walmart exclusives? I've been going to target. Because that's where the classified line is. Since I'll be unboxing these ones the thin carding doesn't bother me. I'm keeping my super 7 G.I. Joe figures in box.
Hasbro misstepped with the "retro" carded Classified figures. If they had begun the line with these figures and not made them the one-off editions of only certain characters, I think the response from the fans would have been much different. Unfortunately, this line was an early victim to the "plastic free packaging" debacle. The figures themselves, with a couple of well known exceptions, are fantastic.
I love the look of the retro carding, the problem I have is the cards are thin and all the figures I've seen at Walmart look like they have been ran over. Not a single mint card. I ordered one from Walmart online and it came in looking even worse so I'm just not investing in the retro series.
I don't have any of those. But I might just get that wave. I love storm and zartan. Even though I love the super 7s but at 55 I can't justify that. What are your thoughts
I agree spirit kicked ass now I have to rank snake eyes way above the Bruce Lee rip off my bad I mean quick kick but yah I hear ya spirit was way cooler
Well, in the 80s cartoon, Snake-eyes was very non-character -probably because the writers did not know what to do with him as he doesn't speak. The Spirit and Storm Shadow fight was pretty good substitute. GI Joe Resolute did a much better job with the fight between Snake and Storm. I just did not how they changed the origin story for Snake-eyes and Storm Shadows from the comics, which is still one of the best GI Joe and Larry Hama story.
At a price of $25 a piece I’m out unfortunately. I love GI Joe however I am too deep in MOTU and TMNT. Had to vote with my wallet a certain UA-camr would say. 😄
Now this if the Storm Shadow I wanted (Although the Classified one was awesome but didn't include the extra hands and that awesome stand, just with they painted the Cobra logo). I don't think I could have enough Storm Shadow's, at least we know they may do Ninja Force since they released that version first before the one everyone wanted. I did equip mine with the ninja assault pack from Gridiron Studios since I like a little modern weaponry with my figures. I am one of the unfortunate few who are still waiting for this figure to be shipped from Walmart. I have constantly complained on numerous sites about how bad this weak card back is and how they should follow the Marvel Legends team in the hopes that someone from Hasbro would actually see it and make the change. I agree with you 100% right on the lost opportunity and money they lose by not selling the actual stands, small stands that fit the classified figures are very hard to find, the only ones that actually really work well are the Gridiron Studios stands. Also, can Hasbro just get rid of the multilingual file cards, this is A Real American Hero, not A Real International Hero. And since they are a billion dollar corporation why can't they throw us a bone and just include a pre-cut file card inside with the actual figures and just leave the multilingual one on the back if they have to, but they don't tell you really anything about the figure. Since this is a retro release they should have just show the original cross sell on the back even though the 1984 card back had two different versions, one had 32 and the other had 36 total figures on the back but how cool would that be if they did that, it's like Hasbro hires idiots who think they know the line and what people want but don't seem open to feedback, I think the only time they listened was when the first wave of Classified figures came out and found out that people don't want futuristic 6" Joes, we want the old school look, with modernized weapons Joes. Maybe as time goes on they will start releasing other versions of characters from the comics, cartoons. Great review as always, but please remember, Duke will always be the true leader.
SUPER7 Kills the need for a retro line imo. Yes the price point is different, but if your buying retro your probably buying doubles anyway so the money is not that big a difference in the long run
@@GameTime-yj6qv The articulation is definitely not up to par with Classifieds, but honestly the look outweighs the possibility for me and I pose my figs. They look cool in the most basic poses and they dropped in price at EE. I own the retros as well and not enough difference with any of them to truly justify a purchase.
Guess I've been lucky with Hasbro Pulse; I've had maybe one item shipped and received that had any box damage at all. Everything recent has arrived super-fresh mint, boxes or cardbacks. I picked up a Spiral cardback from their Marvel line and man it was so super factory fresh clean I immediately wanted more in that condition. I think if the big retailers up their shipping game it would absolutely give consumers high confidence for their purchases and encourage sales growth.

I bought the retro, and now I'm more excited I did. Love the subtle differences they implemented. Same for zartan as well
I'm waiting to see that one on the shelf, it'll feel like it did in 84.

Looking forward to my retro storm shadow arriving
