When I was in high school, one day a girl joined our class. I believe she was from China but, anyway, she could just barely say "yes" and "no" and "please" and "thank you." She naturally gravitated to and became friends with another Chinese girl but one who had been here since she was a little kid and could speak to her both in Chinese and in English. So all year long they sat together and I must admit that beyond noticing that, I just kind of forgot about her. Then on the last week of school we were doing a reading exercise -- you know, we all take turns reading a paragraph out of the textbook -- and then our teacher turned to the new (now not-so-new) girl and asks her to read. She stood up and it was obviously a struggle, but she read the whole paragraph. Then the whole class burst into applause. She looked so pleased as she sat down. It was totally spontaneous but it was really one of the loveliest things I have ever witnessed. It made me love everybody in my stupid, pointless, 10th grade religion class. And it made me very proud to be Canadian.
I want to move to Canada so bad! Its the dream of my life :) Its just as if every good thing each part of the world has to offer its just there in that magnificent country.
What I truly appreciate about your videos is the HONESTY with which you put forth your opinion. Thanks a ton for the uploads. Please keep up the good work.
oh my goodness I love Canada so much, I am British but my mother is Canadian, I am a british and Canadian citizen I I love both of my country's sooo much!!
I as a Canadian welcome ALL immigrants! We are a country built on immigrants! Without immigrants, than Canada would never exist! Thank you for choosing my country to immigrate to!
I like all of Canada, I live in Ottawa which is in eastern Ontario. It is a beautiful city that is divided from downtown and suburb by a Green belt. This green belt contains many biking/hiking/nature trails, and a UNESCO canal that runs through the city also.
So True man! French settled here first then came the English, Then slowly slowly this country started developing. More Immigrants from Europe came in Early 18th Century it changed the face of whole Canada And to be honest without immigrants this country is just and empty land. My ancestors came here from Germany like 120 years ago, We can call our self's white canadians but truth is all whites came from Europe in Canada. We welcome Indian community also they have contributed a lot to this country . Nice to have Sikh friends. Welcome Everybody. On behalf of Canadian People.
I am in my teens now and i can say i have never seen more then maby an inch of snow in my life...i have lived in what most people would call a desert due to the fact that we only have summer basically and winter...you only know its winter when you need a long sleeve shirt...thats it no jackets or anything. I cant wait to finish school and go travel the world..but latley, for the past 4 years i have wanted to go to canada...i want my children to grow up their... i really wish i could of grown up their playing hockey...but down here we only have baseball, football, track, basketball..idk just wait canada you'll have a excited newcomer in a couple of years!
Where do you live? Do you know they have ice hockey teams in some hot countries, including the U.A.E. and Qatar! Also the American Southwest. It's even played in Mexico and South America. So you might still be able to find hockey no matter where you live. However, as a Canadian, I'm very pleased to hear how much you like our sport. :)
I AM WANTING TO MOVE TO CANADA, when i am older, i can not describe the country as awesome and safe, i just can't wait to live in Canada and far away from New Zealand, i just hate nz, and i truly LOVE ice hockey.
I am from nz if i say hockey other people saying "what kind of hockey do u mean" there's two types of hockey here there are turf hockey, and inline hockey
Man, i live in new zealand and i love it.. It's so peaceful and it's natural beauty is un-describable. I don't know which part of New Zealand u live in.
Now on a personal note I really enjoyed this video! It shows very real aspects of Canadian life! And as a Canadian citizen I can say that this is a very accurate representation of life in Canada!
This makes me glad to live here. My grand parents on my mother's side came here about sixty years ago from England. While my other grand parents are of German ancestry but had lived in Ontario for at least four generations. What's your story?
Planning to move to Canada next year. My best friend is - with his Canadian girlfriend - working and living there and he has nothing but good things to say about the country. He's in Dawson, BC. The country is beautiful, the people are wonderful, there's money to be earned if you work hard and there's an excellent quality of life... See you next year, you maple syrup loving rapscallions:-);-)
yes i am prepared, im actually looking forward to experiencing it. I know im going to freeze my arse off lol, but i love experiencing new things..btw it does snow in some parts of oz!
Theyre all fun but in winter it gets very cold. 4 some1 whose never been there and comes from countries with a temperate climate it takes some getting used 2 4 sure!!
i'm american canada is only a 4 hour flight from where i live now soooo it's not like it's japan are korea which is a completely different culture in language not that those places aren't great to of course i'll visit before living there :)
Me and My friend Dylan Are both 13 and in 4 years were going to Canada to meet up with some friends and are staying in Toronto, Im really excited about going there! we have already started saving, but can some of you guys please give me tips on hotels, Shopping, Gyms etc. Thank You!
Well hotels are very expensive in Toronto. You're going with adults right? They could check out sites that let you rent private rooms in houses, etc... could cut some costs.
This video is in dire need of updating. Moreover, it portrays all of Canada as having a very long cold winter which is not true at all. Victoria has very mild short winters as does Vancouver. Southern Ontario's winters are much shorter than in other areas of Canada.
Yes even Toronto and Vancouver. If as u say u come from a temperate climate then 4 sure the cold will be your biggest challenge u better believe it!! haha There are shopping centers built under ground 4 this very reason! it's quite a novelty .
GeekHellMinecraft Racist? What does my comment have to do with racism? Canada is one corrupted mafia full of poor and cheap labour¤cy slaves. If you think you can follow your dreams and goals in Canada then don't come here because corrupted governments need you here as as a slave who works and pay high taxes to feed crooks. Forget your education and dreams to have a better life, family and enjoyment of life.
Klee i just want to have at least a whole decade of racking in some money and then once i move to canada around my 30s (late 30s? was i drunk?), i can convert that into canadian money and then have a good amount of money before i go there
akiuehi if you wait til you are in your 30's you won't be able to move to Canada, Australia, NZ, UK or any other rich country. Most of these countries have a cutoff at age 30 and the process for immigration can be take years. These countries want young people that will have children and contribute (in taxes) to medicare and retirement. Older people are viewed as drains on these systems. If you can attend a Canadian University (which is expensive) your chances of becoming a citizen and getting a job are MUCH HIGHER.
Thank you for the very important info. I have a dream, and my dream is about to immigrate to this pretty awesome country. Hope that i will there in this decade.
Move to somewhere like Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, or Winnipeg. It's a lot more laid back there than Toronto. Btw toronto is not all bad, but it's pretty crowded there and the winters are brutal. If you want a warmer place, I would go for Victoria or Vancouver. Safe travels :)
Thanks for the video. Some of the information is obvious, but all is essential. BTW this was revised in 2006 even though the original was in 1992. So, what was said below is not enough.
I was so amazed that the Lord brought me this place called Canada in my dream. I hope one day I am able to live in Canada because this place is Heaven on Earth. Amen
Sir diseregard anything this person said to you, I am happy it is your dream to come to Canada! If one day you make it here I will personally welcome you if you are in the general are I am in. Canada is a welcoming country and we would love to have you here!
Security of my life the only I go to Canada and live with, but we do not call us the third world any world, which was cut off by the wishes and dream which can not be achieved never I hope to visiting Canada even once in my life .. Much attention in Canada, I follow all its news every day net and followed all the streets through direct cameras ... I adore
I live in Canada. I'm going to college and I have soooo many options available to me, nomatter my financial situation. It's easy to live here. Oh... Just the snow I hate.
I live in Norway, and i think that Canada and Norway is not that far of, i mean, we are both the *second* country, and we both are peacefull, we both might just have it a little bit cold*a lot of cold* and we both has a beutiful leanguege!
The only thing I'm not too crazy about is the cold weather. Otherwise Canada is an outstanding country. But I don't think they would be too keen on lots of "Muricans moving there.
If you wanna immigrate to canada i recommend Montreal. Therre is a lot to do there and also, there is a lot of job. There is people from all over the world so you will probably meet people that speek ypur language and are from the same place then you. Hope this help!
Canada is an amazing country the only down side is the winter cold. Since I'm in Arizona adapting to the 120°F weather going to -20°F will be a dramatic change for me. 😱😱 That cold isn't easy to bare. I love the diversity and Canadian pride. Far as racism that's everywhere at least in Canada isn't not as common to where it can be a stereotype. "No" Over all Canada is a great place to adapt, learn, and grow.
Canada's head of state is not the governor General, but the Queen of England. The Governor Generals job is to take care of things when the queen isn't available, which is pretty much always. And yeah I'm an actual Canadian and I don't know why I'm watching this.
It's all relative. The simple reality is that if you have a warm jacket and all of the necessary gear -- you will not be cold. I hope you enjoy your stay in Canada! Please let us know if you any questions or concerns. :)
This documentary is incredibly outdated. As an immigrant, I can tell you that Canada has grown so much economically/socially/etc. in the past few years. Most cities are booming here!
Thank you for the comment! :) Life in Canada is different than life in the states. Different type of vibe and energy. This video was not filmed recently, but all of the information is still correct. :)
It was educated and I could gather valuable information about better life in Canada.I got an idea,"EVERY CANADIAN HAVE RIGHT FOR LIVING FREE OF VIOLENCE ".I wish all Canadians long living with friendly & wealthy health. Thanks government!
Can you pls tell me what are the basic differences between a lifestyle of cities in US and Canadian cities like Toronto? Besides the obvious like weather and high tax rates. Thanks in adv.
I live in Rio de Janeiro. The winter here is wonderful, but summer, umberable. For me, most months in Canada seems to be too "cool" and the winters, too cold. I lived in Portugal (I detested most to live there, but the country is OK), an warm temperate ocean country, but for me, it was cold most of the times. No snow, but too much frosts (at least 3 or 4 months, almost non stoping, every morning) and summer is OK, with only on month we can say it is warm, nearly hot. Some days are hot. I lived in Southern Brazil and in higland areas in my own state (Rio de Janeiro), wich have subtropical to warm temperate climates, really delightful. Colder than that, too cold for me. And I am a mix of many european origins, plus indian and african, almost white (mediterranean stock). My own physical type is more european, which is to say, should be adapted to cooler enviroments, but it isn´t what happens. I don´t like too warm climates, but I hate cold. Anyways, Canada is really a bealtiful country - just to visit, not to live - too cold ! Brrrrrr.
I changed my opinion. After reading about Quebec, I wished I could live there. I loved the French flavour of this city and of that state and also, I wished to see Quebec as an independent country, but still a "kingdom" of Her Majesty (although I am republican, I appreciate the present Queen, but I don´t like Prince Charles as king - I prefer William ... and Kate). As Quebec lived together with the rest of the country in a Confederation since 1867, I wonder what a kind of confederation could exist between an independent Quebec and remaining states (provinces) of Canada. I don´t have a clear opinion about that especific subject, but I always supported the "peoples self-determination" rule. This is why I would like to see Scotland an independent country too (Scotland is a country with it´s own history and heritage, together with two other languages other than English - the Scots and the Scotish Gaelic). Wales also deserve to be independent, as it have it´s own distinctive language and culture, besides a diferent (not very much different) ethinicity than England (England is more German and Scandinavian, Wales seems to be more Celtic and pre-Celtic - too distinct from England). The same would be valid for Britanny and other regions in Europe (like Catalonia, Valencia and Baleares, like Basque Country, Spanish Galicia, etc. If all these countries (Canada, UK, France, Spain, etc., don´t work to a path which will lead to rightfull and equable confederations, I think all these countries will break apart, as the old USSR and Yugoeslavia). God save us from the horrible civil wars that ravaged Yugoeslavia happens too in the other countries I listed above. I don´t see why Kurdistan in Turkey don´t have an authonomous republic "within" Turkey, for exemple, not to mention the Azeris, Baluchs and Arabs who lives in Persia (Iran). India made a good point creating a federation of many states with their own languages co-oficial together with Hindi (and English, I guess). Indonesia is in the wrong path when it try to enforce a centralized government, although it is also a country made of various nationalities. I also guess that Western Australia want to break up with the rest of the country, but there is no clear ethinic difference between W.Australians and the other Australians. New Zealand could be a federation too, as the Maoris should have a state of their own, because they are really another nation within New Zealand, although now they are a minority and cannot claim all the country for themselves and expel the rest of the population (mostly Brittish). Chile should give at least it´s northernmost province to Bolivia, as it had been stolen from Bolivia and Peru in the XIX century and isoleted Bolivia from the Pacific Ocean. Brazil have a good kind of federation, but the Federal Government is too powerfull and exercise a kind of pathernalistic overlordship over many states, which cannot support themselves without the support of the Federal Government. It is made at the expenses of the richer, more civilized and more european states, (South and Southwest Brazil), which are angered by that kind of confiscations. I think that all countries should be federations, except those very small, like Portugal or Greece. Even the small Lebanon should be a federation, as it is divided among many ethinicities and creeds. Israel too would be much happier if a kind of Israel-Palestine CONFEDERATION was created, with Israely capital in Tell Aviv, Palestinian capital at Hebron and the FEDERAL CAPITAL of both peoples and religions at JERUSALEM. It isn´t an impossible dream ... Yemen is on the brink to divide itself agaijn in Yemen and Southern Yemen (Aden and ... Dramahout (?), because of it´s centralistic and authoritarian government. Somalia already divided itself into Somalia and Somaliland. It was a mistake to join the Italian Somalia and the British Somalia in a sole country, under the centralistic regimen of Mogadicio (Italian Somalia). The white population in South Africa cannot ask for an authonomous state for themselves, but they could be repatriated to Europe, or Australia and New Zealand, in order to save them from the onslaught they are suffering now, much because of their own past faults (the horrible aparthaid regimen). Anyways, I LOVE CANADA and, in Canada, I love more Quebec. I hope you in Canada will find a good solution for the Quebec right to have it´s own sovereignity within or without Canada. GOOD LUCK FOR YOU ALL. GOD WITH WE ALL !!!
I wished to move to Quebec, but I am 50 years old, not "quite white" (mixed white), not strong build physic ... Otherwise, I own more than 20 degrees in different areas, but I am graduated in History (license to teach History). I don´t know if it is enough to move to Quebec ... I made a test and they said I had not the necessary skills ... I don´t know what more is necessary. I think the biggest problem is that I don´t speak or write French ... But It would be easy for me to learn French language... I really would like to live in Quebec. I don´t like USA very much, due to it´s imperialism and Canada, specially Quebec, isn´t an imperialistic country. The best country in the world, with a large part latin ... I would love to live in Quebec. I love latin culture and I already made an experience to live in USA and it´s culture is too different for me. I fit better in latin countries, both from Europe or Americas. I am not sure if there are very much discrimination for people not white in Quebec, and it is a concern for me, because I don´t fit a hundred percent on this category... There are this kind of discrimination?
Thank you very much for your kind answer. I fell myself now much more inclined to move to Quebec, a city that I love (I never been there, but I read a lot about Quebec) and I will start my French internet classes very soon. Thank you very much and God Bless You !!!
Oh, there it is in the credits... It was produced in 1992! Very, very old! It's nice to watch it, but the info may not be that useful anymore as the process had substantially changed.
Paulo Lima well life doesn't really change since in 1992 Nunavut didn't exist ( we had nunavut in 1999) so the video surely has been revsied after but it's still quite accurate for the msot part
While I can understand your attachment to your guns, you have to realize that they're outlawed for a reason. In your comment, you specifically praised Canada for its safety, and as an immigrant here, I must agree with you. Ask yourself why Canada is so safe, and what would happen to that safety had guns been allowed. With that said, have you looked into the possibility of keeping those guns at a shooting range or something? I'm not exactly too sure of the laws. Good luck!
Some parts of this video are scary especially when they explain the difficulty of finding a job in your field.Being a junior QHSSE with a prof. Masters already is really scary...
NO doubt it's a good documentary But the results which i get it from that documentary Europe and Canada have the similar problems as I have spent 6 years in uk I have seen the similar problems. After seeing that video I am not expecting that the unemployment is 6.9% I am expecting the much more as many immigrants have the problems with their jobs.Laws are similar just like the UK ,France and other European countries. There are more work for unskilled people as compare to skilled people which I get it from that documentary.but it is a good documentary for new comers and for the People who want to come in Canada

peacefulll???????? you don't know Canada my friend
pompei1968 What makes you think Canada isn't peaceful?
pompei1968 of 196 countries in the world, Canada ranks in the top 10 in peacefulness
Am looking forward to moving to Canada soon.

"No"
Over all Canada is a great place to adapt, learn, and grow.
D'Anthony Smith I lived in Canada my entire life and I'm still not used to he cold xD
im thinking about making the move
Melbourne to Toronto
Justin Street Go for it!
I think I wanna visit Canada...
Hi I would like to work outside the session en chauffeur in Turkey and abroad How do I get my work permit
I ❤️ Canada so much
Canada's head of state is not the governor General, but the Queen of England. The Governor Generals job is to take care of things when the queen isn't available, which is pretty much always. And yeah I'm an actual Canadian and I don't know why I'm watching this.
"Canada is made of a people that the Almighty has blessed with patience, tolerance and compassion, " -- M.K. Gandhi (Mahatma Gandhi)
Thank you for sharing that Tutu, I had never heard that quote before!

It's all relative. The simple reality is that if you have a warm jacket and all of the necessary gear -- you will not be cold. I hope you enjoy your stay in Canada! Please let us know if you any questions or concerns. :)
My teacher has gave me to watch Soo plz write the review of this video
Funny I am watching this and I'm Canadian xD Also the Arctic last I checked is part of the U.S.
+Faith Gerhardt The Arctic is mostly part of Canada. You're probably thinking of Alaska.
This is very old video .. I think you should do a new version of this video passed on the new information
Well can't wait to move to Canada in the future when my dad retires:)
For the record...Canada's head of state is the Queen...not the Governor General.
It shows you're interested in other people's perspective, which is a good thing :)
Can you plz write the review of this video plz
I am searching on Google because I am not understanding this clearly i need subtitles and in written form plz write this documentry
I really love Canada country,It's my dream!
It was educated and I could gather valuable information about better life in Canada.I got an idea,"EVERY CANADIAN HAVE RIGHT FOR LIVING FREE OF VIOLENCE
".I wish all Canadians long living with friendly & wealthy health. Thanks government!
Can you pls tell me what are the basic differences between a lifestyle of cities in US and Canadian cities like Toronto? Besides the obvious like weather and high tax rates. Thanks in adv.
Canada is the most bealtiful country in the world, but it is bitterly cold !
GOD WITH WE ALL !!!
não sei não não You would fit perfectly here. Love from Québec
Thank you very much
and
God Bless You !!!
I pray all day and I hope to come Canada inshallah
is everything is still as it described in this video, as much as I know policies changed so far now and this video kinda old
This video seems pretty old... Any idea on when it was produced? Many things said there must have been changed.
Oh, there it is in the credits... It was produced in 1992! Very, very old! It's nice to watch it, but the info may not be that useful anymore as the process had substantially changed.
Paulo Lima Thank you Paulo. To old to watch.
Paulo Lima well life doesn't really change since in 1992 Nunavut didn't exist ( we had nunavut in 1999)
so the video surely has been revsied after
but it's still quite accurate for the msot part
Q'uen est-il du Quebec? Should be the 4th populous city in Canada.
Very awesome... i hope
.
Imigrate in canada... i love you canada.. wait me here..
New comers and current residents learning about each other would be lovely wouldn't it? Shame it hardly happens.

quest 123 it snows in a lot of places, doesn't mean its a bad place to live
quest 123 Canada is the 6th best place to live
I like canada, its my dream land
Plz write the review of this video
NO doubt it's a good documentary But the results which i get it from that documentary Europe and Canada have the similar problems as I have spent 6 years in uk I have seen the similar problems. After seeing that video I am not expecting that the unemployment is 6.9% I am expecting the much more as many immigrants have the problems with their jobs.Laws are similar just like the UK ,France and other European countries. There are more work for unskilled people as compare to skilled people which I get it from that documentary.but it is a good documentary for new comers and for the People who want to come in Canada
